Aubree didn’t trust him and didn’t want to go with him, but she was completely new to this place and didn’t know where to go to find Sydney. In the end, after hesitating for a bit, she followed him with careful steps.
“Do you call him Uncle Sydney?” Walking in front of her, Josiah tried to initiate a conversation.
“Yeah.” Aubree answered vaguely.
“And there’s nothing else between you two?” His voice raised a bit as he asked.
Aubree didn’t understand what he meant. Uncle Sydney was her Uncle Sydney. What did he mean by “anything else between them”?
She couldn’t help but glance at him, not wanting to answer.
Seeing that she didn’t respond, Josiah was about to stop.
“Aubree!” Coincidentally, Sydney came at this moment.
“Uncle Sydney!” Aubree ran over to him like a little puppy to its owner. Sydney was her safe place.
“Let’s go to the wedding hall.” Sydney didn’t even acknowledge Josiah the whole time.
Josiah, who was accustomed to his behavior since long ago, didn’t show any displeasure on the surface. Like always, he was going to find other ways to retaliate.
It was an outdoor wedding. The wedding venue, the lawn, was not decorated very luxuriously, but rather simply and tastefully.
Sydney took Aubree along and sat with her in the front row.
“Uncle Sydney! Whose wedding is this?” Since the wedding was about to begin, Aubree couldn’t hold in her curiosity anymore and asked.
“My father.” Sydney’s tone was full of hatred.
As soon as he spoke, the wedding ceremony started. His deep eyes became dark and unfathomable.
Aubree had never met Sydney’s family. She only knew that he was an only son and only had a father as his mother had passed away.
It turned out… he came here to attend his father’s wedding.
Aubree had never able to see Sydney’s heart. She didn’t know what deep secrets he carried around in it. Actually, Sydney could have a secret too, this thought had never crossed her mind.
So naturally, she couldn’t understand the meaning behind his hateful tone and his dark eyes.
Kaitlyn, who was sitting not far behind on the right, looked over at Sydney with worry in her eyes. Even though she knew that the girl sitting next to Sydney must be Aubree, she didn’t care about her at all. Her eyes were on Sydney’s back, and stayed there for a long time.
However, when Aubrey turned her head to look at Sydney, Kaitlyn’s eyes fell on her.
Kaitlyn frowned, her eyes narrowing slightly. Just Aubree’s side profile was enough to make her jealous.
Aubree was too beautiful.
Throughout the ceremony, not only Kaitlyn but also Josiah, both had their eyes fixed on Sydney and Aubree.
Of course, Sydney knew that both of them were watching him and Aubree. His lips arched in an alluring smile as he looked down at his watch to check the time. The plan was about to start.
Aubree was hungry, but seeing that Sydney was in a bad mood, she resisted the urge to tell him.
But she was naive and could never hide her feelings. Sydney could clearly see it on her face.
“Hungry?”
Aubree nodded innocently.
Sydney couldn’t help but smile at her, “Let’s go. I will take you to dinner.”
He took her to the dining hall. This place was designated only for his family, the out of family guests were all outside.
However, as soon as they entered, someone told Sydney that someone was looking for him outside.
“Eat! I will be back soon.” Sydney led Aubree to a seat and told her.
Aubree knew that Sydney must socialize at his own family’s event, and nodded obediently.
“Good girl!” A trace of worry flashed in Sydney’s eyes, but fortunately he knew exactly what was about to happen.
After he left, Aubree picked out a few of the dishes she liked and tasted them. It was all delicious, she began to eat happily. People began to come in one by one into the dining hall. They all looked at her strangely, making her uncomfortable. Even the food lost its taste as their glances continued…
They were all from the Hudson family, only Aubree was an outsider.
After a while, Josiah walked in. His gaze, without so much of a pretend of looking around and discovering her, was already fixed on the corner where Aubree was sitting.
He walked directly to her and said, “Sydney is busy with some things. He asked me to take you to his room to rest.”
Aubree put down the fork in her hand and looked behind him; there was no sign of Sydney.
However, hearing that Sydney asked Josiah himself, she relaxed and lowered her guard.
“Then he will come there later?”
Seeing that she wasn’t suspicious, he immediately answered, “Off course.”
“Let’s go.” He motioned her to follow him.
Just like this, she followed him to the third floor. All the doors here looked the same, and she suddenly felt that she shouldn’t have just followed him so stupidly.
There was no way to make sure if Sydney really asked him to take her to his room. Only Sydney could confirm that.
“Umm…” She stopped walking.
