From what the driver said just now, Aubree got to know the meaning of the words.
She laughed and answered, “No, it is Aubree Wilson.”
The driver also laughed, not arguing, “You are always right.”
When they were home, Sidney had not come back. He was always too busy these days.
Evenly said, “Miss Wilson, have a break please. The dinner is going be served soon.” Recently, she would like to prepare more nutritious food for Aubree since she had to study harder for the coming examination.
Aubree sat on the sofa and got a magazine to read, saying, “All right. Take your time, Evenly. It’ better to start dinner with Uncle Sidney.”
She held the magazine in one hand while touching her new necklace with another hand.
On the magazine, there was a news that Aubree was reading, “Chapman Group contributes to charity; Robert Chapman teaches kids in the rural areas.” She had also read some other news about Robert who was said to be a philanthropist.
Aubree said to herself for several times, “Teaches…” Suddenly, some idea occurred to her.
“Evenly, do you know whether the kids in rural areas are in great need of teachers?” Aubree asked. Now not worried about her own daily life at all, she had a hard time at a too young age.
No wonder she usually thought further when reading some news about such social problems.
Evenly answered, “In those areas, people know little about cities. For the kids there, their parents always come to the cities to make a living. Kids have to stay home with their grandparents.” She was nice to be sympathetic towards those people in trouble.
Aubree said in excitement, “Evenly, I would like to go to teach those kids. What do you think about it?”
To her surprise, Sidney answered before Evenly, “No, don’t go.”
Aubree rushed to give Sidney a hug and said, “Uncle Sidney, you are here! I miss you so much…”
Sidney looked some of tired, but was happy to see Aubree now.
He pretended to have a serious talk with her, “Hey, cut it out. You were not born yesterday.”
Aubree stuck out her tongue at Sidney, not stopping acting like a kid, “No! My dear uncle Sidney. You are the only one to me; I am always a baby to you.”
Sidney did know what to talk, just carrying her in his arms to the sofa to put her down.
He said, “You have something to talk with me? Ok, tell me.”
“I am thinking…”
“But I can promise you everything except teaching in the rural areas.”
“Why? Uncle Sidney, you see the man on the magazine? The man looked so nice, a philanthropist; he was recruiting someone to teach those kids with him.” Aubree showed the pictures of Robert on the magazine to Sidney.
Sidney saw the pictures that made him annoyed, “It’s not a good idea.”
Aubree did not catch the reason why he was unhappy; she had not seen him angry too easily for long time.
She asked in lower voice, “Uncle Sidney, what’s the matter…” Without realizing any mistake she made, she was really scared by his reaction.
Sidney got the magazine from her hands which he threw to the trash bin, “Don’t read the rubbish anymore.”
Aubree was more scared now. She was almost crying and said, “Well, Uncle Sidney, I won’t go. Please…”
Aubree started to talk with him carefully; it made Sidney understand she was much startled by him.
He extended his hand to touch her face softly, “Aubree, don’t be too naïve. I am afraid you will be cheated by anyone else. Promise me, don’t trust anyone easily.” He talked with her seriously.
Aubree had tears in her eyes and answered, “Uncle Sidney, you will be the only one I trust. Are you ok with me?”
Sidney was touched by her words, just looking as normal. “No, sometimes I am not the only one you can trust.”
Aubree burst into laughter, “Are you kidding me? Uncle Sidney, you are too busy to remember it.”
Sidney smiled sightly. In his mind, he wished he was too busy to remember it instead of talking about the truth.
