Penelope is full of courage. She glanced around and sat down as usual. She didn’t even greet others next to her.
The director sitting next to her gave a signal to a staff member. The attendant immediately goes to check the owner of the two invitation letters. Then, it is not difficult to guess who Penelope is.
“Director, those two invitation letters were sent to Mr. Duncan’s.” The attendant says with the headset.
“Mr. Duncan from Duncan’s company?”
“Yes.”
“I know.”
Penelope looked at the phone, which lay quietly, with no messages or missed calls.
“Penelope?” A light female voice rang, breaking the strange atmosphere that lingers around her.
Penelope looked up, seeing Katherine Foster walking towards her in a red skirt, dignified and charming.
“Miss Foster, what a coincidence.” Penelope
stood up and greeted her.
“What brings you here?” Katherine asked with a smile as she pulled her hand.
“I felt bored at home, so I’m out to get some fresh air,” Penelope said casually.
There was a burst of tumult. It is so abrupt that Penelope has to notice. “What happened? What did I say?”
Kathrine pulled the female director over, smiling. “The show is carefully handled by her. She may not be happy with your words.”
The female director finally had the opportunity to speak with her without losing her identity. She reached out and said, “I am Suki Williamson, who is in charge of this show.”
“Oh! Nice to meet you. I’m Penelope Seinfeld.”
Katherine quickly cut through their conversation, “Where is Warren? Is he coming?”
“No.”
Katherine does not seem disappointed. She slightly shrugged, “Well, he wouldn’t be interested in this type of event.”
Suki stretched her hand and poked her shoulder. “What type of event? Doesn’t my show deserve your presence?”
“Please don’t misunderstand, I’m talking about the difference between men’s and women’s preferences, but I didn’t mean to belittle your talent.” Katherine, holding Suki’s shoulders, smiled very intimately. They seem to be very close friends.
The lights of the runway dim. Katherine sat at the empty position on the left side of Penelope, and she whispered, “My seat is a little remote. Do you mind my sitting here?”
She asked uprightly, and Penelope was too embarrassed to refuse.
It’s the first time that Penelope is able to enjoy a show sitting in the front row, it is wonderful! It’s like being pulled into a gorgeous ball, people around her dance with music elegantly. She is in the center. Though all the scenes are spinning around her, she is still unable to integrate into her surroundings.
This is a bad decision. She should not sit here. Compared to sitting right up front, she preferred whistling in the crowd while enjoying the event or making comments freely when watching it with her friends.
Penelope looked around for a while and quietly stood up when everyone was involved in the scene.
She hitched up her skirt and walked out. No one noticed her leaving.
Suddenly, she withdrew her eyes and saw Warren on the red carpet.
His dark blue coat was wide open, revealing a white shirt inside, and the cloth was slightly raised. He put his hands in his trouser pockets. It seems that he was waiting for a long time.
“I guess you can’t sit still.” He smiled at her gently.
“How long have you been here?” Penelope was surprised while seeing him.
“Ten minutes.”
“Why didn’t you come over?”
“I was hesitating, if it looked interesting, I would come in.”
“If not?”
“Just like now, you will come out on your own. And I can just wait for you here.
Penelope let go of her dress. She put her hands behind her back and looked at him with a pair of beautiful eyes like shining stars.
“I’m a bit hungry.”
“What do you want to eat?”
“I heard that the lobster is delicious.” She winked at him.
“… Okay.” His answer was so brief, yet he knew he was being persuaded.
Katherine looked back, seeing them leave.
Two hours after midnight, Penelope knocked on Warren’s bedroom door in unkempt pajamas.
“What happened?”
Penelope pulled his hand over her stomach. She is overwhelmed with her eyes widened.
“You touch it! You touch it, hurry up!”
Confused, Warren raised his hand, landed in her belly, and gently felt a powerful vibration under his palm, as if someone inside was dancing to a drum beat.
“I feel like he’s playing around my stomach. What should I do?” Penelope looked at him nervously.
“Is this normal? Will it break my stomach?” She added nervously.
Warren took back his palm and said, “Don’t worry. Go change your clothes. Let’s go to the hospital.”
“We may go tomorrow, and it’s just a little vibration, nothing else…” Before she could finish talking, her tone abruptly turned down. And she bends over, clutching her stomach.
He reached for the coat on the couch and wrapped it around her. Then, he asked, “Can you still walk properly?”
“Well, there is a little bit of pain…” Penelope bends over with her eyebrows squeezed into two caterpillars.
She never called out with pain easily. At this time, she was frightened by this strange reaction.
Warren supported her with his hands and took her downstairs. Penelope noticed that he was still dressed neatly, except that his coat was covering her shoulder.
“Don’t you go to bed?” asked Penelope.
“I didn’t finish my work.”
During the day, he spent time accompanying her at the show and then dinner. His time is very valuable. He now has to make up for lost time and money.
Penelope felt a bit guilty. She hastily said, “Next time, you don’t have to stay with me. It’s not good to stay up late working.”
He placed her in the chair. Then he walked to the cab, sat down, and fastened the seat belt. He assured her, “I’m used to it, and it has nothing to do with you. Does it still hurt?”
Penelope sat in the back seat and looked at the back of his head. She gently answered, “It didn’t hurt.”
When he was with her, she was very comfortable.
