*** At Kelly Medicals***
” What is it?”, I asked my secretary as she stood in front of me with an envelope in her hands. Then she slid the envelope on my desk. I picked it up and looked at it.
” Later of resignation?”, I asked as I stared at her. ” Yes sir. I’m sorry I didn’t give you any prior notice. Something urgent came up and I need to travel to visit my parents at the countryside “, she said. I looked at her and sighed.
” Fine, you may leave”, I said as I continued my paperwork. ” Thanks a lot for everything”, she said with a slight bow before walking out of my office.
” The nerve of some people”, I muttered to myself as I continued sorting out some files. Then I picked up my phone and dialed the CHRO.
” Good morning sir”, he said as he picked the call, ” how may I be of help?”, he asked.
” I need a new secretary ASAP”, I said, ” the current one just tendered her resignation letter this morning”, I explained.
” I’ll get on it right away sir”, he said before I hung up. ” Ungrateful bitch”, I cussed and went back to sorting out my files. Just then my phone rang. ” Dammit, who the fuck is it this time?”, I cussed angrily as I picked up the damn phone. ” Who is it?”, I asked sternly. ” Geez man, looks like you woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning”, a voice answered. It was the voice of Alberto, the kingpin of the Purple Mafia.
” Oh Alberto, sorry I thought it was someone else”, I said. ” It’s no problem Amigo, but I’d advise you to check who’s calling before yelling next time”, he said.
” Sure, no problem. Got any updates?”, I asked. ” Yes yes, my men are currently following your brother’s limo and it seems like he’s heading to some mansion quite far away from town”, he said.
” Oh yeah, that’s my dad’s vacation home”, I said, ” are you guys ready to do the job?”, I asked. ” Sure, I’ve got some of my boys there already. We’ll attack by midnight”, he said.
” You guys be careful though, the guy is…..”, I was saying before I got off by Alberto. ” You worry too much muchacho, we’ll handle him properly. You just stay put okay? we’ll talk price later”, he said as he hung up. I was a bit worried. I wanted them to take Jared out in one mission or else we’re all doomed. The guy’s ex-military, a former high-ranking Navy seal officer. ” I just hope they don’t get themselves killed”, I muttered and went back to work.

*** At the Maldives***
” Mummy mummy, look what I drew”, Coco yelled excitedly as she ran to show me her art. ” It’s beautiful baby, I didn’t know you could draw vultures so well”, I said with a smile. Then she looked at me with a surprising frown. ” What’s the matter baby?”, I asked as I knelt down in front of her with her face between my palms. Then looked at the drawing and in a sulky voice said, ” That’s not a vulture, it’s a butterfly”, pouting as she said it. I was surprised honestly, because there wasn’t even the slightest resemblance to a butterfly in her drawing. ” Of course I knew that, I was just teasing”, I said.
” I’m gonna draw another one”, she murmured as she went back to her room. ” Geez, that must have really pissed her off”, I muttered. ” Anyway, I better figure out what we’ll have for lunch”, I said and just then, the doorbell rang.
” Who is it?”, I asked as I walked towards the door. I looked through the small fish-eyed lens on the door and saw Pedro. Hesitantly, I opened the door.
” Good afternoon Mi Amor”, he said as he walked in. He looked around the living for a few seconds. ” I like what you’ve done with the place”, he said and then looked back at me, ” oh and here, I got you these”, he said as he gave me a bouquet of flowers.
” I never asked for any flowers”, I said nonchalantly, staring at the bouquet. ” Come on Amor, please take it. It’s the least I can do”, he urged. ” Urrghh fine”, I said as I reluctantly took the flowers from him.
” Now where’s my precious daughter?”, he asked looking around. ” Coco, daddy’s home to see you!”, he called out to her. On hearing her dad’s voice, she dashed out of her room. ” Daddy! Daddy!! is that really you?”, she yelled excitedly as she ran towards the living room. On seeing him, she stopped and both of them looked each other in the eye. She gave him a big smile, while Pedro seemed like he was about to cry from the joy of seeing her.
” Come here Mi Coco”, he said as he spread his hands wide open for a hug. Then she ran into his arms and he carried her up, and both of them hugged each other like there was no one else in the world.
” I missed you daddy”, she said as she put her little arms around his neck. ” I missed you even more, my baby”, he said. I had never seen Pedro so emotional before. ” What has come over him?”, I thought.
” What would you guys like for lunch?”, I asked. ” No my love, let that be on me today”, he said to me, and then turned to Coco, ” now who’s up for some pizza and fried chicken?”, he asked. ” Yay!!!”, Coco exclaimed as she jumped around. ” Alright, I know a nice place. Go put on some clothes okay? Let’s go out, you too Mi Amor”, he said.
” You know you’re acting weird right?”, I asked him. ” Maybe so, but I’ve got to make it up to you guys especially you, my dear”, he said. ” Alright, give me a few minutes”, I said as I went into the room to get changed.

*** Kelly’s Vacation House at night***
” I’m really tired”, Janet said as she yawned. ” Yeah, you better go get some sleep”, I said, ” anyone is gonna be tired after flying for a while. Hell even I feel kinda drowsy”, I explained.
” Well, in that case, see ya tomorrow morning”, she said to me as she stretched and went upstairs to her room. I remained in the living room watching TV for a while until I got bored of it. I turned off the TV and the lights and went to get some cold beer from the fridge. I went back to the couch and drank a few bottles of beer and then lay down there for a short nap.

” We’re right outside boss”, I said to Alberto who I was on a call with. ” Alright Snake, you know the drill. Get in there and take out the guy but don’t harm the girl, kapish?”, he asked.
” Got it boss”, I said before he hung. ” Alright boys, we’re going in”, I said as I put out my cigarette. My men took out their guns and knives and we were ready to go in. We scaled the fence and ran stealthily through the premises. ” Cut the electricity”, I whispered to one of my men, who then immediately went around the house. A minute later, the electricity went out. ” Perfect”, I muttered. Then another one of my men began to pick the lock. It was taking a while.
” Man, we ain’t got all night, you know?”, I complained. ” Yeah, I’m trying. Wait….. almost got it…(*click*)….. yes! we’re in”, he said as I rolled my eyeballs. ” Yeah whatever, get outta the way”, I said. Then I took out my gun and silently pushed the door open. I turned on my flashlight and took a quick glance, before turning it off almost immediately. ” Alright, coast is clear. Let’s move”, I said as I walked in tiptoeing as best as I could with ’em damn shoes. The house was huge. We searched around for a while but saw no one.
” Man this place way too fucking huge”, I complained as I ran my fingers through my hair backwards out of frustration. ” You know what? let’s split up. You two take the left, then you guys take the right, and you, you’re coming upstairs with me”, I said and then we split up.
” Hey boss, you sure this is the right place?”, the idiot following me asked. I smacked my forehead with my palm. ” Of course it is ya dumb fuck, you saw them walk in here, didn’t you?”, I asked.
” Yeah I did”, he responded. ” Then shut the fuck up!”, I said to him. As I was about to keep moving, I heard a gunshot. ” I think they found him”, I said as I ran downstairs and went in the direction of the sound. After running for a while, I halted. ” What’s the matter boss?”, my partner asked. Then I turned on my flashlight and there they were, two of my men laying dead on the floor in a pool of their own blood.
” Perfect headshots”, I said as I analyzed their bodies, ” this guy is no joke. Way too perfect to be luck”, I muttered as I looked around with my gun locked and loaded.
” I see you’re a pro”, I shouted as I walked stealthily searching for our target. ” Oh, I try not to get rusty”, his voice replied before I heard two more shots.
” Oops! I accidentally killed another two of your men”, he said with a chuckle.
” You know I’ll kill you if I find you right?”, I said as I walked in the direction of the shots. ” Oh I ain’t worried about that. I barely even consider you a threat”, he said.
” Oh that’s rich coming from someone who’s hiding from me while talking”, I commented.
” Hey man, I heard you guys are ugly as hell, don’t want no Medusa effect on me bro”, he said. Now he was really pissing me off. ” Show yourself coward!”, I yelled at him. ” Sure, right after I kill this goose”, he said. Then I turned around and looked at my partner. ” Get down!!!”, I yelled.
” What?”, he said trying to confirm what I said before a bullet passed right through his head. ” I told you to duck, you idiot!”, I yelled at him corpse before turning around again.
” That’s real nice”, I said, ” real nice”.
” Thanks, I love compliments”, he said, ” besides I guess whoever sent you here…*cough*… Tris..*cough*.. tan, forgot to tell you weak ass mexicans that I’m ex-military”, he said and then I saw him. He was right in front of me, standing in the doorway of the room directly opposite me with his gun pointed at me.
” I guess ain’t so ugly up close”, he said. I smirked as I stared at him. ” You just walked to your death, chico estúpido”.
” Geez, you Mexicans must really like that word. I heard it from some old geezer back at the airport”, he said.
” I’m done with this”, I said and was about to fire at him, when he threw his gun at me. It hit me in the head, blurring my vision temporarily. Before I could regain myself, a huge punch landed right on my face and soon a huge barrage of punches and elbows came flying into my face. I didn’t have time to react to the speed and power of the punches. I could feel my consciousness fading gradually. Then he picked his gun and hit me and everything faded into darkness.
