I closed the door of the fridge as I took out a bottle of liquor. ” Urrghh damn”, I exclaimed as I stretched my body out, ” Better check what’s on the news”, I thought as I sat on the couch and turned on the TV.

Meanwhile, another headline as CEO of billion dollar company Kelly Medicals, Ronald Kelly dies of a heart attack. I promise to do my best to make sure that the reputation of Kelly Medicals that my father spent his life building, will be not just maintained but improved upon. Thank you”, he said as he was escorted by his bodyguards to avoid the huge press and paparazzi that surrounded him to take pictures and ask questions……..( Video ends)…..
News Anchor: ” You heard it straight from the horse’s mouth folks. Kelly Medicals now has a new CEO and Tristan told our sources that they’ll here more about his father’s death from him soon. Anyway, back to the financial state of the country, we are largely in debt as the……..”.
I spewed the drink in my mouth as I heard what Tristan said. ” That bastard! I’m the rightful heir to the company. There’s no way dad would hand all his shares to him”, I uttered in anger”. I took my phone to book a flight. ” He is so gonna get what’s coming to him”, I muttered.
” Janet! Janet!!”, I yelled my sister’s name. ” What!”, she responded from her room. ” Get down here!”, I said to her. She stomped her way out to the living room. ” What is it? you’re interrupting me, you know?”, she railed at me.
” Geez, calm down. I called you down for something serious”, I said to her, ” we’re going back to the States”, I told her.
” What! Why?”, she asked.
” Well, it turns out that dad died, so we’ve gotta go back and besides, I’ve got things to settle with Tristan”, I said to him.
” Geez whatever, it’s not like dad used to check up on us much”, she said with a shrug of her shoulders.
” Damn, that’s harsh even for you”, I said , ” well, we’ll be leaving tomorrow. I’d like to take Tristan by surprise”, I added.
” Fine by me”, she said as she turned around and walked back to her room, ” just don’t interrupt me again”, she added as she slammed the door back at me. ” Sheesh, she’s fiesty”, I thought.

” Damnit, I wonder why she doesn’t answer her calls”, I muttered as I couldn’t get through to her through the phone. ” It’s actually been long since we spoke. It’s best I go see her today”, I thought. I got ready that afternoon and took a cab to their Mansion. I hadn’t come here in a while just so I wouldn’t think about dad’s death, but I guess they are family now. I sighed as I rang the doorbell at the gate. I heard tons of huge dogs barking in the premises.
” Geez, wouldn’t want to get on their bad side”, I thought. Then one of the bodyguards came and looked at me and asked for my name. Then he searched the tablet in his hand, probably to check if I was on the friend list. ” Whoa!”, I exclaimed as light flashed into my eyes. It was from the gate which was analysing the picture it took go confirm my authenticity. After about ten seconds, the gate lights turned green as it opened automatically. A golf cart came to pick me up and then drove me towards the mansion itself. ” Why is the security so tight?”, I wondered as I saw tons of armed men in suit escorted by huge dogs littered all over the place. The golf car eventually dropped me right at the front door, before driving off. I climbed up the four-step stairs that led to the front door and rang the doorbell there. I heard little footsteps running with an unharmonious rhythm to their steps. The footsteps stopped for a second before I could hear the door unlock. The door opened up and it was the twins!
” Aunt Maddie! Aunt Mneso!”, they both screamed simultaneously as they ran to me and squeezed my legs with their hugs. ” Oh man, you guys are gonna hug me to death at this rate”, I groaned out jovially. They both chuckled excitedly. They held my hands and pulled me inside the house. ” Aunt Maddie, do you wanna see my new toy?”, Aiden asked as he tugged on my arm. ” Oh yes baby, sure I do”, I replied. This prompted Amelia to also demand that I should see hers too.
” Alright, time out. I’ll come see your toys later okay?”, I said to them as I halted. The both nodded in approval. ” By the way, where’s your mom?”, I asked them. They both stared at me blinking at weird intervals as their silence tarried. ” What?”, I asked them. ” I thought she was at your place”, Aiden said. ” Yeah, dad told us that she went for a visit to your house”, Amelia said, backing him up. ” This is weird”, I thought as I remembered the tight security I saw outside. I suspected that something was going on which I knew nothing about ” Where’s your dad?”, I asked them. ” He’s in his study”, Aiden said pointing in the direction of his study. ” Alright you guys go play, while I meet your dad. I’ll come see those toys right after that okay?”, I said to them. ” Yes”, they both responded as they nodded their heads frantically almost turning it into a competition before running off with Amelia chasing Aiden. As they left, I began walking towards the study. I was trying to make sense of what the twins had said. ” Why would Justin tell them that she’s at my place?”, I wondered. I still didn’t like Justin particularly and didn’t quite trust him either. His dad had killed mine, how was I then supposed to be sure that he wouldn’t follow in his dad’s footsteps? ” He better not have hurt Isabelle”, I said to myself as I knocked on the door of his study. ” Who is it?”, I heard him ask in a voice muffled by the walls surrounding him. ” It’s Maddie”, I replied. ” Come in”, he said. Then I opened the door and walked in. ” Long time no see Maddie”, he said with a warm smile on his face. I could tell that he hadn’t slept in a while. He looked a bit pale.
” Yeah indeed”, I responded as I took a seat on one of the couches in the study. He got up from his desk and walked over to me and sat on the chair opposite mine. ” Would you like something to drink?”, he asked. ” Uhmmm not really, but then again but maybe some pineapple juice wouldn’t be too bad”, I answered. Then he used the intercom to get one of the maids to bring it to the study. After she left, I stared at him though he didn’t know since he was talking about some unimportant formal stuff.
” ….. so you know? that’s how the kids have been doing”, he said as he noticed me looking at him, ” is anything wrong? you don’t like the pineapple juice?”, he asked.
” No it’s not that, it’s just that you don’t look so good”, I said to him, ” you look really stressed out”, I said.
” Oh that”, he said as he bent his head down as if trying not to sob. I didn’t know what was going on but I felt bad for him. ” Come on, what is it? tell me”, I said to him in a soft voice as I walked to the couch and sat beside him, patting him on the back. He raised his head and looked at me, ” It’s your sister Isabelle”, he said.
” Isabelle? what happened to her?”, I asked. ” Could she have broken up with him? did she leave him?”, I wondered as I remembered what the twins said earlier. ” Did you guys have a fight?”, I asked. ” A fight”, he echoed with a sarcastic chuckle, ” I wish it was a fight. I really wish it was “, he said. ” Then what is it? you’re making me worried”, I said.
” Can you handle hearing the truth?”, he asked me as he locked eyes with me. Unable to talk with his gorgeous face so close to mine, I simply nodded. ” Fine”, he said as he turned his head to the floor, looking down.
” It all started when she gave birth to Nathan”, he said, ” she seemed alright for a while before I noticed that she was forgetting stuff she normally wouldn’t forget. So I took her to the hospital for check up, but the doctor told us that she had a tumor in her brain and that she would eventually lose all her memories even if we performed surgery. She soon forgot all the kids and even me. We decided to take the surgery route, but while she was at home preparing for surgery, the nurses and doctor that usually came home to take care of her said they needed to conduct an examination on her in the hospital. I allowed them, but then the doctor kidnapped her and hasn’t been seen again since then. I’ve put the whole police department on the case, I’ve even solicited help from a Mexican Mafia just to get her back”, he explained. I was at a loss for words truly. ” Why didn’t you tell me or my mom?”, I asked him. ” I didn’t want you guys to be worried like I am that’s why”, he said, ” I still planned on telling you guys, but only after I’ve found her”, he explained. Now I get why he was looking like this. He was the only one carrying this burden. ” I want to help you find her”, I said. He looked at me and then nodded.
” Do you have an idea of who kidnapped her?”, I asked him.
” Yeah. It’s Dr Luke from Kelly Medicals, but he left the country right after the kidnap took place and no one knows where he went yet”, he said.
” Oh don’t worry, I’ll find him for sure and he’s gonna pay along with everyone connected with the kidnap”, I said with determination in my words.
” I’ll give you all the help you can possibly need”, he said, ” I’ve gotta get her back. I’m losing my mind without her”, he said in a melancholy voice.
