” What you are saying is, you want to invite me to your new product launching?” Sheila asked, just to be sure.
” Well yes, don’t you want to come? ” Blake replied.
” Of course I want to come. I feel honoured to be invited. I’ll be there for sure. ” Sheila acknowledged.
” Alright then, I’ll send a formal invitation to your husband. ” Blake informed her. After chatting for some time, they bid goodbye to each other.
Today was the day Vanessa was leaving country A with Gabriel. They were flying to country B, Gabriel’s home country to visit his parents.
As her friend was taking such a big step in her life, Sheila decided to see her off at the airport to wish her good luck.
David, who had become extra caring ever since she became pregnant, insisted on tagging along.
Sheila could only agree reluctantly. She loved David but his degree of overprotectiveness was starting to get on her nerves.
” I’ll Just send her off, you don’t need to accompany me everywhere.” She had said to David, hoping that he would at least listen to her and stay behind at the company.
” I’m not accompanying you, I just love being with you.” David shamelessly declared, giving her the same reply he had been giving her in the past days wherever she asked to go anywhere on herself.
Sheila rolled her eyes before walking out of the company.
David followed behind her like an obedient puppy.
The employees who saw him were shocked to see their respected president acting like a lackey In Front of his wife.
Jordan was already waiting at the lobby with the car ready. He was about to take the wheel when his boss pushed him away.
” There are files waiting to be sorted out on my table. Make sure they’re done when I come back.” He instructed coldly.
He wanted to have some alone time with his wife. Hr could only get rid of his personal assistant who wanted to tag along.
” Okay, president.” Jordan said with a bow.
Although feeling wronged, there’s nothing he could do about it.
The car soon left the company and headed straight to the airport.
Twenty minutes later, the car pulled off at the parking lot.
David was the first one to alight before he walked to his wife’s side to help her.
Sheila did not reject his help, she knew that her husband derived happiness in taking care of her, so how could she rob him of that?
Besides, which woman doesn’t love it when her husband takes care of her needs?
When Sheila stepped down, she spotted Vanessa immediately. With her new blonde hair, it was easy to spot her.
Sheila could identify her friend anywhere. The two of them were too familiar with each other, coupled with Vanessa’s unique features.
She was medium in height, with a well proportioned body that made men turn around to have a second glance.
” Vee,” Sheila beamed, walking towards Vanessa who had spread her hands wide for her friend.
Without a word, Sheila lunged to her friend and the two shared a warm hug. Looking at them, one would think that they haven’t seen each other for long when in fact, it had been only three days since they said their goodbyes.
” I’ll really miss you when you are gone.” Sheila said, pouting her lips.
” Don’t be such a drama queen Sheila. Vanessa answered, rolling her eyes.
Sheila burst out crying, feeling offended by her best friend’s words.
Vanessa was taken aback. She turned to look at Gabriel who was as clueless as her and then to David who was now glaring at her.
He had the look of ‘ This is your fault ‘ on his face, rendering Vanessa clueless.
“Relax sweetheart, she didn’t mean anything with what she said. She just doesn’t want you to worry about her. ” David explained in an attempt to calm the now bawling Sheila.
Ever since she became pregnant, her moods started flipping faster than how a chef flips pancakes. She is often emotional and would burst crying out of nothing.
He at some point thought that she was sick, that’s until the doctor told him that it is very normal among pregnant mothers.
” Yes dear. I didn’t mean to upset you. I just don’t want you getting worried about me. You know me sweetheart, I’ll never want to hurt you.” Vanessa coerced, hoping that her words would make Sheila stop crying.
She couldn’t believe that her ever senseful girlfriend was becoming so insensible thanks to her pregnancy.
If that’s how she would become after getting pregnant, she started to doubt whether she wanted to be pregnant.
After sniffling for some time, Sheila finally wiped her tears clean.
” Really? But I can’t help but miss you darling .” She announced, her hands wrapping around Vanessa’s intimately.
Looking at the scene, one would think that the two were a couple.
Gabriel and David who had been casted aside could only grit their teeth in annoyance.
” If you miss me, I’m just a call away.” Vanessa comforted her friend. After witnessing her friend break down over a comment she made casually, she was now afraid of saying something, lest she pull that stunt again.
” But I want to see you. A call isn’t enough.” Sheila said with a pout.
Vanessa, who was not used to this side of Sheila, could only look at David, hoping that the man could come to her rescue but he ignore her, like she didn’t exist.
” How about I video call you every night?” Vanessa proposed. Sheila was behaving like a clingy boyfriend who is afraid of separating with his woman and it was creeping her out.
” Okay, you promise?”
” I promise.” Vaness confirmed.
Sheila smiled happily.
Gabriel who was standing besides David nudged him.
” Seems like your wife’s unborn son is already in love with my woman.” He remarked to only receive a glare from David.
” It’s a daughter, not a son. ” David declared.
” Or maybe twins.” Gabriel said, looking at Sheila’s small baby bump.
” What are the two of you gossiping about?” Sheila turned to ask the two men murmuring.
David straightened his back and Gabriel coughed awkwardly.
” Sister, I was telling your husband that you can tag along if you don’t want to be separated from Nessa.” Gabriel said only to jump the next moment after David pinched his thighs.
” What’s the matter?” Vanessa rushed to Gabriel, inspecting his body to see the source of his discomfort.
” It’s nothing.” Gabriel replied, turning to look at David who had a calm expression on his face like he just didn’t pinch him.
” I guess we should leave now before we miss our flight.” Vanessa announced and Gabriel nodded in agreement.
” I prepared a present for your future mother-in-law. Give this to her, I hope she will like you and the present too.” Sheila said, removing a necklace with a butterfly pendant.
Vanessa immediately fell in Love with the necklace immediately.
” Wow, it’s so beautiful.” She gasped. She had seen many of her friends’ designs but the necklace before her was unmatched.
” I made it specially for her. You two will meet for the first time, it’s good to give a meeting gift.” Sheila said, passing the necklace to Vanessa who received it with two hands.
” I don’t know what I would do without you. You are so good to me.” Vanessa said sniffling back her tears.
How considerate of her friend to even remember to prepare a gift for her mother-in-law?
“You are my sister, of course I’ll do anything for you.” Sheila answered, hugging her back.
” We should get going.” Gabriel said.
He was touched by Sheila’s actions. Although his mother lacked nothing when it came to jewelry, the piece she presented was beautifully crafted. It was a gift from the heart and that’s what made it special.
Sheila and Vanessa shared the last hug before bidding goodbye.
Sheila and David watched as the two disappeared to the waiting area.
” Let’s go back.” David said, his hands snaking around Sheila’s waist.
” I’m hungry.” Sheila whined.
