The following morning, Sheila woke up early and prepared breakfast for Lily. She then made sure that the little one took her medicine.
” Mommy, when am I going back to school?” Lily asked. After staying at the hospital for days, she was looking forward to having a normal life again.
She missed her teacher and her best friend Sunny from kindergarten.
” Why? You Miss school already?” Sheila asked as she massaged Lily’s legs.
The little one nodded.
” I haven’t played with Sunny for some time now.” Lily replied.
Sheila felt like her heart was pricked upon hearing Lily’s words.
The young one could not go to public so that meant that she could not attend school.
She will have to stay cooped in the house until the surgery was performed.
Her immune system was weak and getting infected could affect her health even more. Now that they hadn’t found a suitable donor, Sheila knew that they could not afford having any mishaps.
Actually, she had the intention of breaking that news to Lily in the first place.
Now that the little one asked, she had no option but to talk about it now.
” Lily dear, I am afraid you can’t go to kindergarten anymore.” Sheila spoke, her eyes observing Lily’s reaction.
” But why Mommy? I’m feeling alright now?” Lily inquired sadly.
She had thought that now that she was finally out of the hospital, she could go to school and play with Sunny.
” No dear, the doctor said you can’t go out, at least not yet. But don’t worry, I’ll bring you a tutor so that you will continue with school. As for Sunny, I promise to do everything to have her visit you from time to time.” Sheila said, smiling down at Lily.
Although that was not what she wanted to hear, the little one still smiled back. She was no fool to not know that her condition was serious.
” I will listen to Mommy.” Lily replied.
After playing with Lily until the drug kicked in, Sheila left the room.
” I will do everything for you, my Princess.” Those were the words she told Lily before exiting the room.
It didn’t matter what it was, she would do it to ensure that Lily stayed alive.
Sheila was walking down the stairs when she met David who was walking upstairs.
” Why are you here? Ain’t you going to work?” Sheila asked.
Since she took an off to take care of Lily, David was tasked to take care of her Job making him more busy than before.
” I was waiting for you.” David replied in a low voice.
After what he heard last night, he didn’t even get a wink of sleep. He could not allow her to divorce him. That’s why he needed to talk to her and sort out their differences.
He could not let go of her, no matter what and that’s what he wanted to tell her.
Sheila frowned before looking at her wrist clock.
She was already ten minutes late from her and Vanessa’s appointment.
” I am getting late. I have to be somewhere. Let’s talk when I’m back.” Sheila said before rushing downstairs and leaving without another word.
David watched as his wife left without hearing him out.
He could not understand exactly what he did wrong that made her change his mind about him.
Wasn’t she happy about their Marriage? Then why the sudden change?
Dejected, David walked downstairs, intending to leave for the office.
Aunt Meng who had seen the entire scene frowned.
Could it be that the young mistress and master were having a problem in their marriage?
Not intending to ask about it, she carried on with her duties.
David left the house in a sour mood. He drove towards Gabriel’s office.
He would have to seek advice from him about his wife’s plan to divorce him.
Twenty minutes later, he Parked his car at the company and headed Inside the company.
He was heading to the presidential elevator when a security guard stopped him.
” I’m sorry sir but that elevator can only be used by the president.” The Man politely said.
After looking at the Man, he could tell that he was a wealthy man from his dressing to the aura surrounding him.
Before David could reply, John, Gabriel’s secretary , rushed to them.
” Good morning president Brown? May I know if you are here to see my boss?” John greeted him and proceeded to ask with respect.
David nodded without saying anything. He was in a bad mood and did not want to talk to anyone.
” This way please,” John said, ushering David to the presidential elevator.
The security guard from earlier bowed respectfully to both David and John before walking away.
He could not help but rub his chest from nervousness.
He did not want to imagine what would have happened to him if he had been disrespectful to the Man earlier.
David and John rode the elevator in silence.
John could not help but wonder why president Brown decided to pay his boss a visit personally.
When the elevator door opened at the topmost floor of the building, John led David to Gabriel’s office.
After knocking and receiving permission to enter, John opened the door and ushered David Inside.
Gabriel was surprised to see David in his office.
” Welcome to my warm abode, president Brown.” Gabriel said standing from his seat and walking towards David.
” May I know to what honour I owe this visit?” Gabriel added with a smile.
” Can’t I visit a friend?” David asked gloomily. He was angry that Gabriel already figured out the reason for his visit.
” I’m glad that president Brown considers me a friend but we both Know that you are too busy to think about dropping by just to say hi.” Gabriel spoke meaningfully.
” I need your help.” David announced, taking a seat on the coach.
Gabriel proceeded to sit opposite him.
” Get president Brown a cup of coffee.” Gabriel Instructed his secretary.
” I would prefer something strong.” David spoke.
Gabriel turned to look at David with surprise before a smile bloomed on his lips.
” Whiskey it is then.” Gabriel Instructed and John left the two men.
The two men remained silent. No one said anything. Gabriel was observing David who had his eyes covered with both palms.
One look at the man avd Gabriel could tell that something was troubling David.
Although they weren’t that familiar with each other, he could tell that much.
” What’s the matter? Is this about Lily?” Gabriel finally broke the silence and asked but David just shook his head.
If this was about Lily, he would not be this frustrated.
John came back with two glasses of whiskey and served the two men before leaving the room.
As an assistant, how could he stay and listen to what it is they wanted to talk about? He did not have that right.
David swirled the drink in his hands before gulping down the whole thing.
The burning sensation made him frown.
” Easy there. It’s still early to get drunk.” Gabriel said.
Now, he was starting to get worried about the man in front of him.
” You can tell me whatever it is. I can help you .” He offered and lifted his glass to take a sip.
” She wants a divorce.” David said, making Gabriel spurt all the drink in his mouth before he started coughing violently.
Looking at the man’s reaction, David frowned.
” Are you talking about Sheila, your wife?” Gabriel asked after recovering from coughing.
” Who else could it be?” David grumbled.
He was not so sure anymore if telling Gabriel about his problem was a good idea.
” What did you do to her? Are the two of you having a problem?” Gabriel asked, making David frown with displeasure.
What makes him think that he did something wrong?
” I did nothing wrong,” David answered grumpily.
“I don’t believe that.”
