Sheila was surprised upon seeing the people who came to congratulate her and witness her memorable day.
Lily was the first to run towards her. ” Slow down baby, you might trip and fall.” Sheila warned but the little bundle of joy did not pause. Seeing her running towards her with open arms, Sheila crouched down to meet her embrace. Lily threw herself into her beautiful sister’s arms. She couldn’t explain how happy she was. Finally her incompetent father did something worth her recognition.
She lifted her head to look at David and Saw the smug expression on his face. It was like he was telling her,’ See, your father is awesome.’ Lily rolled her eyes at him, making David’s veins pop out one after the other.
He was the one who managed to convince Sheila to marry him, why did it seem like his daughter was not impressed at all?
He planned on bragging to his daughter how efficient he was but who would have thought that she would roll her eyes at him and ignore him like he didn’t exist.
‘ This child!’ David could only complain inwardly. His daughter has never had any faith in him. What did he expect from her anyways? Not like his daughter’s praise mattered! If she didn’t want to praise him, she might swallow her praises.
” Beautiful sister, congratulations for getting engaged to my father.” Lily’s sweet melodious and childish voice echoed in the ballroom caressing Sheila’s heart. The little one was so sweet and adorable. ” Thanks baby!” Sheila received her congratulations with a loving and gentle smile on her face. The girl always melted her heart into a puddle.
Amidst the short silence, Lily produced a bangle. It was an emerald green bangle bracelet and Sheila fell in love with it in an instance.
” Beautiful sister, I specially prepared this gift for you.” Lily said, stretching her little hands and handing the bracelet to Sheila who was momentarily stunned. She didn’t expect this at all.
” This one’s for me?” Sheila asked after she recovered from the shock and Lily nodded her head. She then helped slip the bracelet to Sheila’s arms. The green colour brought about a beautiful contrast to the white skin colour.
” Thanks baby.” Sheila said. She was touched by the little girl’s act.
It was the first time she was receiving a special and Intimate gift from someone and she loved it very much.
” No beautiful sister, I bought this gift for you to request you to allow me to call you mother.” Lily uttered those words sweetly and the whole venue fell into complete silence.
David felt a pang of guilt hit him upon hearing his daughter’s words.
She has always wished to have a mother but he was convinced at first that she didn’t need one. As long as she could get love from him, that would be enough for her. How wrong he was!
Everybody else in the hall was stunned too. Well nobody expected that move from the little girl. She was full of surprises tonight.
Sheila who was presented by a sweet and loving request had a mental breakdown after hearing lily’s words. Tears welled up in her eyes. Be her mother? Of Course she wanted to be the girl’s mother! Who wouldn’t be? After all, the little girl was bright, lovely, sensible and beautiful. She was the perfect description of an adorable little princess.
” No baby!” Sheila found herself saying.” It’s not you who is supposed to ask me that! I should be asking you about that baby.” She said and removed a chain from her neck. David identified that chain instantly, that was the chain that never left Sheila’s neck. What was she planning to do now? He wondered but still did not voice out her words.
” This is the ring my mother gave me after they adopted me into the mason’s family. It is the only valuable thing I have with me now.” Sheila said and laughed nervously. ” So baby, with this chain to link us as mother and daughter. Will you accept me as your second mother, to care and to love you always?” Sheila asked, looking at Lily who broke into a huge grin. Well her beautiful sister was lovingly asking her to be her daughter, how could she refuse?
” Yes I do.” Lily replied and Sheila helped her out on the chain and hugged her.
” M.. Mother?” Lily tested the name in her mouth and it rolled out smoothly.
” Yes baby?” Sheila.
” I purple you.” She said ever so sweetly, melting Sheila’s heart yet again.
” I purple you too my baby, very much.” Said Sheila. She couldn’t control the tears threatening to fall so she let them have their freedom tonight.
David who was standing besides the two most important women in life was getting jealous. This is because the proposal just now seemed to outdo his earlier performance. He wondered what his daughter was up to.
Besides, the little girl was dominating his fiancee and he didn’t like it one bit.
Someone hearing his thoughts at that moment would facepalm! That’s his daughter for crying out loud. The fact that he did not understand the meaning of the coded language the two just used did nothing to restrain his jealousy.
After the mother and daughter duo separated, Vanessa was the next person to wish her best friend best of luck.
” Am so happy for you girlfriend. I can’t imagine you are now an engaged woman. I envy you alot.” Vee said and Gabriel who was standing besides them chimed in.
” Don’t worry sweetheart, very soon, I’ll make you my wife.” He assured her and vee blushed.
Blake, Fred, Alicia and other close people also came to congratulate Sheila. Even though Blake was still not over Sheila, he was happy as long as she was happy and he had seen how happy she was.
Despite not having a good impression of David after the guy practically threatened him to stay away from his woman, Blake could see that he had genuine Love to his junior sister so what more could he ask for?
He understood that only David would make her happy but Fred was not satisfied. He really thought that Sheila and David were unmatched. First the guy was already a window, he was older than Sheila and had a daughter already. He thought that it was unfair for Sheila. She deserved better and that better was obviously not David Brown. But alas! What could he do? Nothing, except for watching as the woman he loved was happy in another man’s arms.
