Sheila could tell that the guy was in a good mood, making her wonder why so.
He was all smiles as he whistled down the Streets and through the outskirts of the city.
Fred would occasionally steal some glances at her making sheila feel a little bit unconscious.
After driving for more than thirty minutes and leaving the city far away behind them, Sheila decided to ask exactly where he was taking her.
With his mysteriousness, of course he didn’t give her a definite answer, Fred just grinned at her, exposing his pearly whites.
” We are almost there.” Fred announced before Sheila saw a wooden gate ahead of them.
Taking a closer look, the gate was snaked with vine like flowers giving it an ethereal beauty.
Sheila admired the place as they made their way through the gate and along the pathway.
After a minute of driving, Sheila was greeted with the most magnificent sight.
Before her was the house of her dreams.
It was nothing fancy, just what she always envisioned in her mind.
A wooden cabin, with flowers surrounding its perimeter, a good view to the mountains peeking from a distance and cherry blossoms surrounding the periphery of the house.
Not waiting to be ushered outside, Sheila stepped out of the car as her eyes shone at the beautiful scenery in front of her.
Words alone couldn’t explain just how beautiful the place was. It’s cool breezeway, washing away the city smell and bringing about a relaxing feeling.
” Wow! it’s beautiful here!” Sheila exclaimed, awed by the picturesque before her.
When Sheila heard that Fred was taking her out, all she thought was maybe they would be going to a fancy restaurant or even a beach, this was the last place she thought about, not that it even crossed her mind that she would be brought here.
” Do you like it?” Fred asked, a doting smile on his face.
He could do anything in this world to have her smile at him like that daily.
Her smile was like a morning by the shores, beautiful and enchanting.
” I don’t just like it , I love it!” Sheila replied, flashing him her signature smile.
” Thank you Fred.” She added.
She was truly thankful for his consideration.
The city was full of pollution, getting such fresh breath was not something easy.
Who would have thought that just miles away from the city, such a beautiful place could exist.
” You don’t have to thank me, if you like the place, I can transfer the deed to you.” Fred stated.
Although his tone was casual, Sheila knew that he meant every word he said.
But how could Sheila accept that?
She might have fallen in Love with the place at first sight but that did not mean that she would just accept it as a gift.
Owning a piece of land especially around the city could cost you millions of money, she could never accept that generosity.
Fred really wanted to give Sheila the house.
Afterall this was specially built for her.
He had remembered every thing she said in their childhood and had been working hard to be the perfect candidate for that position.
He had missed his chance years ago when his parents discovered his plans to date her.
His parents never disliked Sheila but they always reminded him that the two were from completely different social classes.
Fred was a heir to the Cooper family company while Sheila was a daughter of a poor couple, worse, nobody knew her true roots, afterall she was adopted.
Taking him to study abroad was their plan to keep him away from her.
Now that he was back, he was hell-bent on making her his woman.
He w
would do anything possible to have her in his arms, he wouldn’t allow anybody to separate them, not even his parents.
” No, that’s not appropriate, I can’t take that.” Sheila opposed the idea. She had to make her stance known to him.
She knew wouldn’t accept anything from him even if he forced her to.
” Why not, it’s just a small gift.” Fred insisted, baffling Sheila at the choice of words.
Just a small gift?
What was small about a house that sat on almost two hectare land?
Sheila could swear that to afford that piece of land, she would have to work her ass off for years.
The value of money ranged from the rich to the poor.
What she saw as a fortune could be another one’s breakfast Cash.
” I don’t need it Fred nor can I accept it.” Sheila replied, her voice Stern.
Fred knew that she was getting pissed off so he dropped the topic.
Taking her hand in his, he pulled her up the stairs.
The two came to an open window after passing through the pathway.
The scenery was even better from this point compared to when they were downstairs.
Closing her eyes, Sheila inhaled the cool and fresh air. Her hair was blown away by the soft wind gracing the area.
Looking at her, Fred was Sure this was the Kind of life he wanted for himself.
A woman he loved and desired with every fibre of his being by his side and children playing around them, their children.
Moving to her side, he tucked the loose strands of her hair behind her ears while gazing at her lovingly.
” I know that this may sound sudden coming from me but I want to speak out something I have been keeping in my heart for years. Ever since we were small, I have always liked you Sheila.” Fred confessed.
” I hid in the shadows of being your elder brother, concealing what I felt for you. For years I suffered, hiding the pain of not being able to tell you what I felt. I listened to you talk about the man of your dreams. I remember making fun of you saying that such kind of men never existed but deep down, I swore that I would become exactly what you wanted. I did everything just how you liked it. I would act as a gentleman in front of you even if it killed me. All I ever wanted was to please you, Make you see me as something more than a friend and a big brother. I wanted you to see me as a Man, a man you can rely on and Lean overtime.” Fred paused to breathe.
He never knew that confession could be this hard.
On the surface he was calm but only God knows the storm brewing inside him.
” We were separated for years as I went abroad for my studies. Everyday I would think about you and work hard so that I could finally be able to come back to you. I wanted you to be proud of me when I came back so I worked extra hard in school, passing all my tests.
Then I was allowed to return home, you don’t know how happy I was. The moment I landed, the only thing in my mind was seeing you so I called you.
When I laid my eyes on you after years, I knew that this was the lady I wanted to grow old with. So Sheila, will you do me the honour of being my girlfriend?”
