“What are you thinking, Nikki? Challenging one of the pack slut for a duel like this in front of the entire pack? What if you get hurt?” Cole asks while dragging Nikki away to a scheduled place so that no one can hear their conversation as they walk towards the arena in the training ground.
“I know that you are worried about me. But it needs to be done because I know that Clary was not the only one who doubted my capability to lead the pack. Many others questioned me, but she was the only one who came forward. It is the quickest way to solve this problem once and for all. Have some trust in me. I will be careful so that I won’t get hurt,” Nikki said with a smile and kissed him.
“You better be careful otherwise, I will never forgive you if you get hurt,” Cole said, still looking worried.
“I will,” Niki said and kissed him passionately, to which he gladly responded. Then both of them go their separate ways. Nikki goes to the training room to change into combat clothes while Cole goes to the arena with others. After changing their clothes, Clary and Nikki enter the arena, surrounded by the pack.
“Before we begin the duel, allow me to state the rules:
The first one to pin the opponent to the ground will be the winner.
Emma enchanted the clothes you were wearing with spells, so they will not get destroyed if you shift into your wolf form, so feel free to transform into your wolf form wherever you want.
You are not allowed to withdraw from the duel in between the match. So, if you want to withdraw from the match, withdraw before the fight begins.
You are not allowed to kill or severely injure your opponent.
You are not allowed to ask for help from anyone during the fight.
The person who loses the duel will give up on Cole and become the servant of the winner for the rest of their life.
The duel will begin when the handkerchief touches the ground,” Mike explains the duel’s rule to everyone and takes a cloth out from his pocket.
“Begin,” Mike said while throwing the cloth on the ground and getting out of their way so he would get in their way.
As soon as the cloth touched the ground, Nikki and Clary started circling each other, waiting for another person to make the first move.
“Since you are younger than me, I will let you make the first move,” Clary said to Nikki while circling Nikki to guess Nikki’s first move.
“Thank you for your consideration, but I will pass,” Nikki said with a smirk.
“Cocky, much. Well then, don’t mind if I make the first move,” Clary said with a smirk and threw a punch at Nikki, which Nikki dodged by stepping aside. Clary stumbles a bit and catches herself before she falls and turns around to throw another punch at her.
Clary started getting frustrated and trying to throw a punch at Nikki
again and again, but Nikki kept dodging her punch, making her embarrassed and even more frustrated. Seeing that not even one punch reached her, Clary changed her strategy and decided to kneel her on her stomach, but thanks to Nikki’s quick reflection, she stopped it on time.
Nikki clutches her leg in her arms and kicks her another leg to make her fall to the ground. Clary saw Nikki holding one of her legs in her arms, she used another leg to kick her, but Nikki dodged it.
“Why did Nikki keep dodging her attacks and did not attack her?” Stella asks anxiously while looking at their fight.
*That kid, it is not that she can’t attack. She won’t do it. Nikki is watching to analyze the other person’s attack patterns, to make her next move,* Mike thought as he watched the fight from the sidelines.
Vampires and werewolves have different dispositions, but their attitudes when dealing with someone are not that different. It was the basis of battle to understand and grasp the opponent’s pattern of actions to anticipate how they would move and respond accordingly. And Nikki knows to do that at such a young age. No wonder she is the daughter of the moon goddess. The moon goddess would be proud of her if she were watching her from above, Ryan thought as he watched the fight with great interest.
Cole was deeply surprised by Nikki’s calm demeanor. He feared that Nikki would act restless in the duel and get hurt.
“Did you also teach Nikki how to fight in human and wolf form?” Cole asks Emma, who is sitting beside him and watching the match calmly.
“Of course. Did you really think that I would only teach Nikki about magic? Nikki is half a witch and half a werewolf. She needs to learn how to fight in both forms if she wants to protect herself and others.” Emma said calmly, but Cole knew she was proud of Nikki’s progress since he knew she was not the kind of person who showed much interest or went easy on her disciple, but he was grateful to her for teaching her.
Finally losing her cool, Clary shifts into her wolf form, pounces on Nikki, and pins her to the ground.
“Nikki,” Cole, Stella, Rose, and Kelvin shouted and stood up from their seat to run to help her, but Ryan, Mike, and Emma stopped them, shaking their head.
Everyone sighed in relief when they saw Nikki lifting Clary’s wolf and throwing her away. Nikki quickly got up shifted into her wolf form and started to circle Clary, while everyone who hadn’t seen Nikki’s wolf form looked at her with awe.
Clary whimper in pain as she stands up from the ground. Nikki didn’t wait for her to make a move, then pounce on her, then pin her to the ground. Clary tries to bite and hit her with a claw while trying to remove her from her. When Nikki removes her face away from her to dodge her claw, Clary takes advantage of it and pushes her away from her.
Nikki didn’t wait for her to get on her feet again and pounce on her. When Clary tries to push her away, she growls in a warning gently bites her neck, and puts more pressure on her body. Clary gets scared and whimpers in pain and then surrenders herself.
Seeing that Clary had surrendered herself to Nikki, Mike walked toward them and declared that Nikki was the duel winner. Mike orders them to shift into their human form and make Clary take a loyalty oath toward Nikki.
After that, Mike ordered someone to take Clary to the pack’s hospital, told Nikki to return to her room to get a change of clothes, and led everyone to the backyard to resume the party.
