Chapter 48

“Babe”. I felt his lips against mine. Smiling I slowly opened my eyes. He smelt like fresh air; I could smell his shower gel mixed with his aftershave.
“Hi”. I whispered. I felt rested, I didn’t wake up once during the night and that was a first in a long time.
“Have to get up babe”. Staring at his bare chest and the way the towel hung loosely around his hips I licked my lips. I could get used to seeing that every morning. “Stop looking at me like that”. He growled as the towel hit the floor.
I giggled. Pregnancy hormones, I couldn’t help it.
“Shower now. Don’t make me tell you again”. He smirked pulling his boxers up his legs. Stretching out my arms a yawn fell from my lips. “Ava”….
“Okay I’m going”. I sighed as I pushed the covers off and got out of bed. “Is Everleigh still sleeping?”. I asked getting clean underwear from my drawer.
“Nah babe she’s downstairs with your mom”. Pulling his hoodie over his head he grabbed his cut from behind the door.
My mom was here already?
“She wasn’t missing our girls first day either”. He grinned. “I gotta go see your old man-…”
“Blaze, I swear to god if you miss this”. Running a hand through my hair I clenched my fist.
“I’ll be their babe I promise”. Walking towards me he slipped his arm around my waist. “I wouldn’t miss it”. Kissing my forehead his hand slipped to my ass giving it a hard squeeze.
“I love you”. Placing my lips against his I felt his arms slip from my waist.
“I’ll be back real soon”.
“Okay”. About turning I hissed when I felt the sting against my ass cheek.
“That ass though”.
Rolling my eyes I grinned. Blaze was an ass man. Closing the bathroom door, I stripped the T-shirt from my body and turned the shower on.
I felt a little hesitant about leaving Everleigh, but she needed this, we needed this. With Everleigh in preschool, it gave me the chance to go back to work. It didn’t stop the dreaded thoughts from crossing my mind though.
Would she be safe?
Would she make friends?
Everleigh was the most important person in my life. The day I met her it was like falling in love all over again. She was my baby; she would always be my baby.
Rising the soap from my body I grabbed the towel wrapping it around myself. Preschool would be good for her. After getting ready and fixing my hair I applied a thin layer of lipstick and sprayed some perfume.
I was nervous for her. Would she cry when I left her? Did all parents think the same when their kids started preschool? The thought of leaving her was eating me up inside.
No, she would be fine.
Grabbing my purse, I slipped my phone and keys inside. Once I dropped Everleigh off, I was planning to take a trip to the hospital. Now I knew what days she was in I could work out some sort of rota.
“Mommy”. She squealed as I entered the kitchen.
“Morning baby”. Lifting her into my arms I loved the way she slipped her arms around my neck and squeezed. “Hey mom”. I smiled taking a seat next to her.
“Coffees hot, you want some?”. She asked.
“Yes please”.
“Big day for our girl”. She grinned sitting the steaming hot mug in front of me.
“Big day for me too”. Taking a sip of my coffee I placed the mug back on the table.
“She’ll be fine A. This is the part where you get to get back on your feet, you get to go back to work. Don’t worry too much”.
“You’re right”. I sighed.
“Oh, I know I am”. She winked. “Is Blaze meeting you there?”.
“No, we’re driving together. He better get his ass back here on time”. As the words left my mouth, I heard the roar of his bike or should I say bikes.
“Does he know?”. I already knew she was referring to me being pregnant.
“He found the test. I stupidly left it lying on our bed”.
“Wait you weren’t going to tell him?”. She asked.
I wanted to make sure everything was okay before I told him. I know he hates himself for missing so much with Everleigh. I didn’t really want to get his hopes up in case something happened.
“Of course, I was”. Taking another sip of my coffee the back door opened and no surprise Everleigh kicked her way off my lap.
“Uncle Ared”. She yelled.
“How’s my favourite girl?”. He asked lifting her into his arms. “Drop the glare princess. He’s out back”.
My mom laughed before shaking her head. “I’m going to call your dad”.
“I wasn’t glaring”.
“Tell your face that”. He smirked.
“Uncle Ared I go to school”. She laughed. “Come see unicorns”. Clapping her hands, she kicked her legs for him to put her down.
“Unicorns?”. He asked.
“Go and see Uncle Ared”. I winked.
Away they went hand in hand for Everleigh to show him her new backpack.
The bond they two had still amazed me. I was grateful that she had him, I was grateful she had them all. It meant she always had someone looking out for her.
Taking another sip of my coffee I froze as the words left his mouth.
“Are you allowed to drink that?”.
He was like creeping Jesus or better yet a silent assassin. Always creeping in without making a sound.
“It’s one cup it’s not going to hurt me”. I probably shouldn’t be drinking it, but I always enjoyed my morning coffee. It helped set me up for the day ahead.
“One cup too many”. Taking the cup from my hands he finished what was in it.
“Next you’ll be telling me I can’t have a smoke”. I joked. I didn’t smoke with Everleigh, and I certainly wouldn’t be this time around either.
“That better be a joke”. He glared.
Rolling my eyes, I got to my feet. “Of course it’s a joke”. Taking the cup from him I washed it out before sitting it on the draining board.
Wrapping his arm around my waist he lay his hand flat against my stomach. “I can’t wait to see you round and fat”. He growled his breath tickling my neck. “Can’t wait to see how big your tits get”.
“Tits…. Mommy tits”…
I could already feel his body shaking with laughter. Another word our daughter has learned from her dad.
“Stop laughing”. I hissed slapping his leg. If we didn’t acknowledge her saying it, then I was hoping it wouldn’t come out her mouth again.
“Uncle Ared gave me monies for school”. And knowing Jared it wasn’t going to be a dollar. Rolling my eyes I moved away from Blaze.
“Come and get your shoes on”. Holding out my hand I laughed at her little grin. She knew she had everyone in here wrapped around her finger.
“Love you mommy”. Slipping her hand in mine I bent down to her level. My precious girl. One thing I was sure about and that was Everleigh. I would protect her with my life.
“I love you too baby”. Kissing her forehead, I felt Blaze behind me. I could already feel my emotions getting the better of me.
“Little bear, are you ready for your first day?”. And just like that she was jumping into his arms. “Let’s get your new shoes on”. He smirked at me before throwing me a wink.
I wasn’t against any of them buying her things or spoiling her, but it was constant. Anything she wanted she got. Everleigh wasn’t a greedy child, but I still didn’t want her turning out spoilt.
“So, your dad can’t make it”. My mom sighed.
“He’ll see her afterwards it’s okay”. It wasn’t that much of a big deal. As long as Blaze wasn’t going to miss it.
“Leighton’s going into elementary school next week. That should be fun. He’s so much like your dad it’s scary”.
“He’ll be riding a motorcycle before you know it”. I laughed.
“Oh, it’s already on the Christmas list. The boys obsessed already”.
That without a doubt was going to happen. He was going to grow up and be exactly like dad.
“Mommy I go”. Everleigh came running into the kitchen backpack at the ready.
“Let mommy take a picture first okay”. Grabbing my phone from my purse I snapped a few shots. She was going to break hearts when she was older and if her dad has anything to do with it, it wouldn’t just be hearts that get broken.
“Send they pictures to me later”. My mom bent down kissing her forehead. “Have fun baby”.
“I’ll call you later mom”….
Taking her hand, I grabbed my bag before we made our way outside. It was hot today, the air humid. A laugh fell from Blazes lips, both leaning against their bikes smoking a cigarette. Unlocking my car, I placed Everleigh into her car seat making sure it was secure before closing the door.
“You ready?”. I asked.
“We’ll follow behind babe”. Flicking his smoke to the ground I couldn’t help but drag my eyes over his body. His beard had grown, his hair scraped back into a man bun. This man right here was mine, he screamed sex.
The smirk he was wearing already had my panties wet and best of all he didn’t even know I was staring. Damn pregnancy hormones were driving me crazy already. Shaking my head, I blinked a few times before getting into the driver’s side.
I needed to calm myself down before I asked him to fuck me in the street.
