Chapter 30

Peeling my eyes open I frowned. I was lying in a hospital bed an IV sticking out my arm. What the hell happened? Where was Blaze?
“Don’t take it out”. Josh warned. “You’re severely dehydrated, that right there will give you a little boost. Doesn’t look like you’ve been looking after yourself Ava”.
I was fine. A little under the weather but I was dealing with it.
“I’m a little sick”. I shrugged. “How’s Jared?”.
“Always concerned more about other people”. He sighed. “Jared is as good as he can be right now. If anything changes, you’ll be the first to know. Now stay put you need-…”.
“Cage I swear if I fall out this wheelchair, you’re dead”.
Ally?
“He’s doing my head in”. She groaned as he pushed her into the room. I couldn’t help but grin. It was nice to see them getting along again. Josh had left and Cage had gone to find Blaze. “He’s been fussing over me since I got brought in and you can guess his reaction because he has to help me pee”.
Trying to stifle my laughter I sunk my teeth into my bottom lip. He was some boy, but I knew she wouldn’t have him any other way. “I heard what happened to Jared. Will he be, okay?”. I couldn’t help the guilt I was feeling. If I hadn’t of said those things to him, he wouldn’t be here. He didn’t deserve to be here.
“I know that look Ava. None of this is your fault”. Wheeling herself forward she grabbed my hand. “You can’t feel guilty for something you didn’t do”.
“If you’d have heard what I said to him”. I whispered swallowing the lump that had appeared in the back of my throat. “He didn’t deserve it. He’s been so good to me over the past few years, he’s so good with Everleigh”.
“Don’t cry my gal”. As she let go of my hand, she pulled herself up onto my bed. “This is harder than you think”. She huffed finally falling back beside me.
I couldn’t help but laugh. “Ever told you how much I love you”. Leaning my head against her shoulder you could imagine the look we got when Cage and Blaze walked in.
“Finally decided to leave us for each other, can I get in the middle?”. Cage smirked.
“Don’t even think about it”. Blaze warned.
“Aw man you ruin all the fun”. He pouted. “Come on love muffin let’s get you back to your room. It’s time for your sponge bath”. He winked helping her back into the wheelchair.
“I’m seriously going to punch you and not to fast”. Cage was already wheeling her out the room.
“I knew you were still sick”. As he closed the door, he climbed up beside me. “You should still be in bed, resting”.
“I am in bed resting”.
“You know what I mean”. Lifting my left hand, he stared at my ring. “Don’t want to wait forever Ava. I think we’ve waited long enough”.
“I haven’t even told my dad”. I whispered moving my hand so I could link our fingers together. I didn’t want people finding out before I told him. Turning onto my side I threw my leg over his waist resting my head against his chest. “He has to hear it from me”.
“Babe did you think I popped the question without asking your old man, fuck A he would have my head and I ain’t letting the old prick shoot me again”.
“I don’t want to wait forever, and we won’t, but we have to wait a little bit longer. You need your best man before we can get married”. Jared was his best friend but, in some way, he was mine too. We couldn’t get married without him being there.
“I just want you to be my wife, I wanna spend the rest of my life making you happy”.
Sitting up I leaned my arms across his chest so I could look at him. “You already put the ring on my finger”. I grinned leaning closer and placing my lips against his. “You’ve already got me”.
“Always did”. Winking at me he leaned forward stealing a kiss. “Let’s get you home and into bed”.
..
I didn’t get much sleep. I was already on my 3rd cup of coffee, and it was only 5am. I couldn’t stop thinking about Jared. I had no idea where Sasha was, no one could find her, and she wasn’t answering her phone. I wasn’t even sure if she knew Jared had been shot.
Finishing off what I had in my cup I placed my mug in the sink the ring on my finger catching my attention. I had finally said yes. I was going to become his wife. We had finally made it. After all those years of arguing and fighting we came out strong.
I never thought it would have worked out the way it did, but somewhere deep down I knew I would always find my way back. This was my home and everyone in this clubhouse was my family. I tried to push them away, I tried to keep my distance, but you can’t choose your family and I wouldn’t change mine.
“Sitting in the dark?”. His voice was full of sleep as he slipped his arms around my waist. Leaning back against him I closed my eyes. I would always need him; I would always want him. I fell in love with the outlaw biker, and I wouldn’t change it for the world.
“Couldn’t sleep”. Turning around in his embrace I slipped my arms up and around his neck. “Too much going on inside my head”. It was like my brain wouldn’t shut off, my mind working overtime.
“Time have you been up from?”. I always knew Blaze had trouble sleeping when I wasn’t beside him. It was like he sensed I wasn’t there. If I couldn’t sleep, then he wouldn’t. “Ava”. He warned when I didn’t answer. I knew if he knew I’d been awake for hours he’d send me straight back to bed.
“Not long”. Trying to get out of his embrace his arms tightened. “I’m not tired Blaze and besides Everleigh will be up soon”. As his arms slipped from my waist, I went straight to filling up the kettle. I was going to need it if I was to survive the day ahead of me.
“Gotta start taking care of yourself Ava. You’re still sick and you won’t get any better if you don’t rest”. I knew he was pissed because I put everyone else before myself, but I couldn’t help it. It’s just what I do, it’s what I’ve always done.
“I’m fine”. Pouring hot water into two cups I added a little milk and sugar and passed him one. “I’ll ask my mom to take Everleigh this afternoon and I’ll take a nap. Happy?”.
“Do what you want Ava, you always do anyway”. He muttered as he turned and walked away.
“Blaze”. I sighed. I couldn’t believe he was starting something over nothing. We hadn’t had a moment like this in so long. I didn’t want to fight over nothing, and I damn well wasn’t going to. Throwing out my coffee I stormed my way through to the bedroom.
He was sat up smoking a cigarette.
“Are you seriously pissed because I’m up?”. Folding my arms across my chest I watched as he continued to puff on his smoke. “Are you not going to answer me?”. I hated when he acted like this. I wouldn’t stand for it like I did all those years ago.
“Come here”. Like the stubborn ass I could be I refused. I wasn’t getting back into bed. Stubbing out his cigarette he smirked patting the space beside him. “Just get you stubborn little ass back into bed”.
Fighting back my smile I shook my head.
“Don’t make me come get you”. He grinned already pulling back the covers. “Look babe you don’t even need to sleep just get over here and chill out”.
“Just chill?”. I smiled already stripping out of my clothes. Pulling on one of his t-shirts I climbed back into bed. I forgot how at ease he made me feel. Already wrapped around him with my head against his chest I could feel my eyes start to get heavy.
“See, now that wasn’t hard”. He whispered kissing the top of my head.
We both fell into a comfortable silence. The more he stroked my hair the more tired I was becoming. I had everything to think about now. I had my job to get back too, Everleigh was starting pre-school very soon and now I had a wedding to plan.
“You’re frowning”. As he sat up, I moved over slightly leaning my back against the headboard. As he lit a cigarette I glanced down at my ring. I needed to get him one. Was it bad I didn’t know his size?
“Where do you want to get married?”. I asked.
“As long as you’re standing at the bottom of the aisle I don’t care for much else”. Grabbing a hold of my hand he laced our fingers together.
“I want to get married here out back”. As soon as the words left my mouth, I felt him tense. “This place is special to us. I don’t want a big fancy wedding Blaze. Here is where my family is and here is where I’ll become your wife”.
Watching him discard of the cigarette I bit my bottom lip. Did he not want to get married here? Before I knew it, I was under him my arms pinned above my head. “Can you get any more perfect”. He whispered placing a kiss on the side of my mouth.
I was far from perfect, but I was his perfect and I was okay with that.
“One thing I need you to do for me though sweets” His eyes locked with mine and I couldn’t look away.
“Anything”. Lifting my head up I placed my lips against his. “For you”. And I meant it. I would do anything to make him happy.
“You might not be so eager when you know what it is”. Sighing he fell to his side of the bed. Frowning I matched his movements leaning my upper body over his chest.
I was racking my brain but coming up empty.
“I need you to wear your cut over your dress”. I had yet to officially wear my cut but what better way to break it in than marrying the love of my life.
“Blaze”. I whispered leaning closer to him; I could feel his breath against my lips.
“Babe its tradition and I know you’ll want everyone to see your dress but-…”. Pressing my lips against his to shut him up I pulled back and grinned.
He was rambling.
“I don’t care about the dress. I know how important the MC is to you and how important it’s becoming to me. I’ll wear it Blaze”.
“I can’t wait to marry you sweets”.
“Me too”. I whispered my lips finding his.
And then it went from there. His hands found the bottom of his tee, pulling it over my head I fell flat against his chest as the t-shirt hit the floor.
