Chapter 9

Book:Where We Belong Published:2024-6-4

I was hot.
Not scratch that I was sweating.
Blinking my eyes open I froze. My head was buried in his neck, my arm over his chest and my leg over his waist.
Holy shit what were we doing?. As if he knew what I was thinking his arms wrapped around my body and he held me tight.
“Best sleep I’ve had in 4 years”. Rolling over he pinned my arms above my head the front of his body pressed against mine.
This was not a good position to be in.
“You good babe?”.
I was flustered, my heart was racing but I was good.
“Ally has Everleigh she left a note earlier and I didn’t want to wake you”.
“What note?”.
Don’t be alarmed I’ve kidnapped your child for a day!! Lots of ice cream or my fav girl…. Jokes!! But Cage and I have taken her for the day and night. Please don’t be mad thought you could do with the break and the alone time hint hint…. PS….. Jump on that dick sista haha love you gal!!
And he had read it?! I was going to kill her.
“Interesting note”.
“She always did have a way with words”. I knew my face was scarlet and I knew if I looked at him, he’d be smirking.
“So?”. He asked. “You going to jump on this dick?”.
“Blaze”. I groaned pulling the cover up and over my head so he could no longer see me.
Chuckling he pulled at the cover. “You don’t have to be embarrassed baby”. But I was I always have been when it came to sex. “Besides you don’t have to jump on-…”
Pulling the cover away I hit his shoulder causing him to laugh even more. “I’m joking”. He winked grabbing a hold of my arm he pulled me to him causing me to fall against his chest. “We got all day just let me hold you for a bit”.
And that’s exactly what I did. I’d be lying if I said it wasn’t the best sleep I’ve had in forever. He was mine he always had been I just had to build up the courage to take that chance on him.
“Don’t want you working behind that bar darling”.
“And why’s that?”. It’s not as if I was working at night. I was helping during the day until I got myself sorted and Everleigh enrolled into pre-school.
“Because you don’t need too. Take care of our girl that’s all you should be doing”.
“I do take care of her every single day”. What was he getting at? I needed to work, I needed to earn a living. “I need to work Blaze”.
“Not here you don’t”.
Rolling over so I was leaning against his chest I looked up at him. “Are we not past the caveman act yet? You don’t always have to be jealous”.
“I don’t like the way they look at you”.
“You’re being ridiculous and I’m pretty sure they got your warning after what you did to Jared”. Rolling off him I lay on my back throwing my arm over my eyes.
“Still pissed about that?”.
I didn’t like his tone!!
“Did you apologise?”.
Scoffing he pulled my arm away from my face. “I don’t apologise when it comes to my woman”.
Squeezing my eyes shut I sat up. “You’re an idiot”. Pushing the covers off I tried to make my escape but of course he wouldn’t let me. It was like he had to touch me every chance he got.
“I’ll fix things with Jared”.
“Yeah, you will he didn’t deserve what you did”.
“Damnit Ava, I said I’ll apologise. No wonder I get jealous you’re always fucking defending him”.
“And there you go again”. This time I managed to get off the bed and away from him. “Stop with the jealousy and get it into your thick head. Jared is my friend and our daughter’s uncle. He will never be more than that. I’ve got stuff to do so calm down and I’ll see you later”.
Closing the door behind me I was glad when it wasn’t pulled back open, and I was dragged back in. I was giving him time so think about what I had said, he needed to calm down and cool off. He was always getting angry over nothing.
“Still jealous then?”. Jared grinned; he was sitting at the bar. Where was everyone?
“You heard that?”. I groaned.
“Afraid so sweetheart but don’t worry about it. He’s always been the same when it comes to you, heck the number of times I’ve had to talk him down”. Whistling he brought the beer bottle to his lips. “You’re his old lady he’ll always be jealous, and he’ll always see other guys as a threat”.
“Was his old lady”.
“You’ll always be his old lady Ava we both know that”.
“Why does everyone keep saying that to me? First Marco and now you”.
“If only you could see it from someone else’s eyes”.
Eh?
“Is there a car I can borrow?”.
“You going somewhere like?”.
Rolling my eyes, I ignored him and instead went to freshen up. They always had to know what I was doing and who I was with. Think they forget that I’m nearly 28 years old.
Grabbing my purse, I was eagerly waiting on Ally texting me back. I missed my baby; I wasn’t used to her being gone this long. I knew she was safe, and I knew they would keep her safe but that didn’t stop me from worrying.
With one of his shirts tied around my waist I grabbed my leather jacket from my suitcase and pulled it on. Slipping my feet into my boots I gave myself a once over in the mirror before giving myself a nod. I didn’t know where Blaze had disappeared too, but he wasn’t in the room when I came back.
“Your cars in the garage, keys are behind the bar”. Jared was still sitting in the same position as I left him. Something seemed off he didn’t seem like his normal self.
“What’s going on?”.
“Nothing everything’s just peachy”.
Now I knew something was up with him. I had never seen him like this, and Jared was a hard-faced unapproachable guy, but I knew something was wrong.
“Jared”. I sighed squeezing his shoulder. “Tell me what’s wrong”.
“Everything’s fine darling go do what you need to do I’ll tell him you didn’t go far”.
“Jared”.
“Leave it Ava”. He snapped causing me to pull my hand off his shoulder. I was leaving it. He had never spoke to me that way, never raised his voice to me.
After collecting my keys, I left without another word. If he didn’t want to talk about it, then I wasn’t going to push him to tell me. Just as I stepped outside bikes were pulling into the lot. As their engines silenced, I watched curious as to what they were doing. They only rode together like that if they were on a big run, and I doubted that especially when Blaze nor Jared was there.
And then they removed their helmets, and I realised it wasn’t the mother chapter but Marko.
“Where you off too little lady?”.
“A few errands but can you do me a favourite and get my car out the garage?”.
“Where’s Little Ava?”.
Rolling my eyes, I chucked my keys at him. “Can you please get my car or ask one of them to do it”.
“Sure, but tell me where you’re going first”. I swear every damn guy in here thought they had to know where I was going. I knew they were all worried because of what happened to me but that was a long time ago.
“To get some food and a few things for Everleigh”. He didn’t need to know where I was going no one did it wasn’t any of their business.
“2 of my guys will tail you”.
“No Marko I’ll-….”
“Your dads not here right now darling but I am and 2 of my guys are tailing you”.
“Why are you here?”. I asked crossing my arms over my chest. They only ever came down for parties or when something was going down. I didn’t like it one bit, made me feel uneasy.
“Club business”. And then he threw my keys at a guy I never thought I’d see again.
Duke.
“Get her car from the garage. Duke will tail you along with Bobby”.
“I don’t need anyone to follow me Marko I’m fine and truth be told I don’t want them too”. If I wanted someone to go with me, I’d just take Blaze.
“They’re following you whether you want them to or not. It’s not safe out there darling and you being on your own doesn’t sit well with me”.
“Marko”. I sighed as I watched Duke drive and park my car in front of the gates. “It’s been 4 years since it happened. Please don’t think I can’t manage a simple shopping trip on my own”.
“Not saying that darling just want you safe”.
“I am safe Marko and if my dad didn’t think I was he’d have his own guys follow me”.
“Okay sweetheart but take this”. Pulling out a gun from the waist band of his jeans my mouth fell open. I wasn’t taking a gun.
“No way”.
“Too much?”. He grinned putting the gun away.
“Just a little. I appreciate you trying to look out for me but I’m fine. I’ve got to go”. Making my way to my car I jumped in and took off.
