Jake’s POV
I’ve got such a toxic brother but I accept the fact that everyone has his personal habit that might be irritating to some others, especially those close to you and more difficult to detach from.
“Be right here. I can’t wait for you.”
I receive the mind message again as I increase my pace, with the aim of getting to my destination on time. Jack’s gonna regret a thing very soon, if he doesn’t do what he’s supposed to. I’m not gonna tell him what he needs to do. If he can detect that, he’ll go for it or regret not doing it.
I finally get to the last room in a particular big hall in this college. The room is so spacious and mainly designed for pack meetings. It is said that wolves might end up shifting during meeting due to the decision made that might not favor some set of people.
As I get there, all the members of the pack rise to their feet as Blake also mounts the podium. The room alone is as big as some other halls yet it’s considered a room mainly to keep the secret of the pack. It’s not a secret pack, but it’s a pack to be kept secret from newly admitted students.
“I am Jake and I’m happy to be a member of the Lake Rush Pack. I hope my time in the pack is valued and I indeed will serve you right and choose the protection of your lives and properties as priority. I will not invite any member to the pack without the prior permission of the Alpha and I also hope to become a stronger wolf as the relationship with you all proceeds.” I give my speech and they applaud me accordingly.
“Jake…” A young man with red eyes suddenly mount the position as he calls my name, “step forward.”
I take a few steps forward and he reveals a dagger. I don’t shiver at first sight as I assume the worst he’ll do is stab me with it. My wolf and vampire heal on time as much as there’s not too much sun at where I am wounded or stabbed or hurt.
“Stretch your palm.” He requests.
Blake also walks towards me and stretches his palm. He extends his hands towards him as the red-eyed guy slices his hand and blood oozes out. He turns to face me, almost considering me a coward. I won’t want to be a coward in front of the entire populace. It isn’t a good thing to start with, I mean, for a first impression. I extend my hands towards him and he slices my palm and it oozes blood as well. Blake’s enjoins his hands with mine as the red-eyed guy wraps a red attire around our hands, speaking some words in Latin.
After a few more minutes, he removes the red attire as Blake removes his hands, so do I. He turns to face the crowd, saying, “it’s done.”
They applaud us on the podium as I feign a smile so as to convince them I wasn’t forced into this as a grinning expression might say so.
Blake turns to me with a mild expression on his face as he requests that I follow him to the centre of the podium so he can address the wolves. He’s got a huge chest, muscular and a nice hair. He’s got blue eyes and decent beards and moustache. He’s really the Alpha. I don’t need to be told. Even if he doesn’t mount the podium and only sat in the middle of the crowd as a regular wolf.
Back to how I met Blake. I was at around the corridor, speaking to myself as I watched everyone pass by. My lips didn’t move obviously, but they did, anyway. No one could point at me and say I am running mad for speaking to myself. No one dared say such.
Someone suddenly beckons to me from a distance as I ask my wolf to sharpen my vision to know who that was. He was indeed beckoning to me but I don’t know who he is. I put it in mind that I’ve got enough security, a wolf and a vamp, in case he tries to lead me astray. As I get to him, he walks me to an empty room close to us. The aura around him was just so commanding and I can’t even hesitate to answer his question . He’s not armed I’d say, but he’s more feared than someone armed.
“I’m Blake. I saw you sitting over there and reasoning a lot of stuff. What could be the problem?” He asks, like though he knew me earlier and cared a lot.
I heaved a deep sigh of relief as I assumed he’s not completed his speech yet.
“Okay. I can read your mind luckily and I know your worries. I know your requests and the things you really want. I can grant you everything but if only you agree to be a member of my pack.” He said.
My mood was lifted by that statement as I sought to know about his pack. He wasn’t as muscular and powerful as the one I now see in the big room but he’s got a special type of aura.
“What are your terms and conditions? I need to know before I step into the pack.” I requested.
“I’ll let you know everything after you give me you word that you’ll join the pack.” He said, smirking.
I suddenly wanted to flee but he held me back, and simply said, “agree to be a member of the pack or inform me which way you’d like to die.”
My heart began to pant hard at such word. I couldn’t recall when last I felt threatened that way.
“How do I go about it?” I relented.
“Come to this room by next week Thursday. In the evening. I’d expect you. Remember that you can’t run from me.” He said, and guided me to the room they did use for their meetings. I saw there and mastered the room number and the direction, as I left. I got home that day and it was when Jack started asking me why I got home late. I wouldn’t tell him anything like that in the first place as I assumed Blake’s pack wouldn’t accept that. He never told me to invite anyone yet anyway.
I lied to Jack about what went on with me that made me got home late and eventually, he didn’t ask anything about it anymore. Now, back to us on the podium while we are waiting for him to address the populace.
“Now that you have been initiated, you’ll be informed about the necessary details of the pack. You’ll be instructed. The rules and regulations laid down for the pack will be made known to you. Though I’ve never done this, but I’d like to do it for you. I’ll read the rules myself and if you violate one of them, you’ll be killed.”
I shiver a bit as I hear that but I maintain composure anyway.
“I read.” He simply says as he smirks to the crowd while flipping the pages of the big book where the instructions are written.
