Dominic’s POV
It is the dead of the night and time to try our luck retrieving the once lost pack. The rogues are readily prepared as training sessions have been going on for hours now.
I slowly tilt my head as I ask one of them, “what if this doesn’t work out? No, don’t tell me to be positive. I am just asking.”
“If it doesn’t work out, we’ll return to the woods. Right here. There are no two words for it.” He says.
“Then we must make it work,” I say, as I clear my throat, “huh?”
“It’s great to realize that you now see the need why it just work out.” He says as the master whistles for all of us to converge at a corner.
“We are about to take off now. It’s 2am. I’ve made some research on the pack and they have strong security measures against rogues. We can’t do anything to our being rogues apart from this we’re doing now.” He informs.
We trail behind him as we head to my pack. As we get there, I notice that the pack is still active. Seems some warriors are training at the moment. Nonetheless, I allow the master to guide us, and inform us of any danger ahead.
“They’re still active. I mean the military men.” He say and turns to face us.
He begins his speech after clearing his throat, “we are at a stone’s throw to the pack now and it’ll be so ugly of us to shiver in front of our enemies. I didn’t count them when I came here as a spy. Don’t lose guard. Anyone might attack you from behind. Also, remember that bullets don’t penetrate into your skin just easily. You’ve been cursed by the moon goddess and your skin has thickened triple of your normal wolf skin.”
He turns to face Harley and I now, “I’ll advise both of you to hide at a corner and finish off any warrior we don’t get to kill or we don’t see coming. Don’t let them notice you. Mask your scent and never use it to mind link nor track anyone. It’ll be exposed and it can reveal where all of us are, as well. Do not say I didn’t warn you. We need to get this done. We might be fewer but it’s not about the population. It’s about smartness and strategy.”
We both nod our heads to the affirmative as Harley clutches to me while we march towards the pack. He knocks on the gate, hoping one of the warriors will come open the door. No one deserves to be shot on the spot for just knocking. Afterall, he’s got no weapon with him. I’m glad that the warrior doesn’t shoot him after opening the gate. He waves at us to come over and we rush at the door but silently.
“Eh, don’t shoot. We are your friends.” I suddenly confuse as he’s about to pull the trigger.
I reach for the back of his neck while he faces other people as I slowly slip out the little dagger with me. I slash his neck with it and he begins to bleed. He drops to the ground as I slash his neck deeper till his head is about to drop off.
As soon as he drops to the ground, his fellow warriors begin to fire shots at us as Harley quickly runs for shield. The rogues around me defend me against the bullets since bullets don’t get to them easily. As I get off from the warrior I killed, I begin to find Harley so we can hide at a spot together but I’ve been warned never to use the mind link during this fight.
Many warriors begin to approach as I see Harley hiding at a spot. I rush at her and hold her hands as I run deeper into the pack. We reach a junction where I suddenly hide when I see more warriors being dispatched. I ask her to employ me as her ladder to climb the roof and she struggles to do so. After she gets to the roof, I employ my wolf energy as I climb the roof as well. We both crawl on the roof as we watch everything happening in the pack.
I already stole the gun from the warrior I killed and I’m certain many bullets are loaded there. There’s a particular warrior about to slash one of the rogues helping me in the neck just the way I killed the first one, their colleague. I don’t bother screaming his name. I don’t even know it. I rather strap the gun to my fingers, aim him, pulling the trigger.
“Won’t they trace the direction of the sound of the gun?” Harley asks. I roll my eyes at her but cuddler her up when I remember she is only a female, a weak vessel, and someone who’s been comforting me ever since I lost so many things, one of which I’m about to regain.
I begin to fire shots as the warriors multiply. I fire bullets at their skulls instead as fifteen of them died on the spot. I am not sure they are wolves. They are mere warriors, human beings. I am actually waiting for when the silver wolf will come out so I’d shoot her. Once the leader has been taken down, it’s easier to take down her subjects.
The rogues begin to get tired as some of them climb the fence and run out of the pack. I jump down as I tell Harley to wait for me. I run towards them, firing many bullets as possible. I strap up to four guns to myself, from the dead warriors, as I run back to meet Harley.
I begin to fire bullets at them as I give her one of the guns to use as well. By dawn, we have killed up to five hundred warriors but I’m sure there are still up to two hundred or more inside the pack, being instructed not to leave the pack.
On a regular day, by this time of the day, the members of this pack would have resumed work for the day but no one is in view. They all have heard of th strong intruders.
The rogues that jumped down from the fence suddenly reenter the pack as they wave at me. They can see me.
They scream, “get down. Let’s get in and kill them all!”
I jump down after Harley does. She winks her eyes at me, wanting some kind of compliment for jumping down without my help.
