Follow Your Guts

JACK’S POV
“How are you?” I ask the girl in front of me. She can’t be older than I am. Grandfather had asked I and Jake to hunt down five girls for him. Though this doesn’t permit our release, it permits our convenience in the pack.
“I’m good, wanna go hunt?” She asks. She’s definitely an extrovert with the way she reacts quickly.
“No. Not really. Can I see you for a few minutes?” I inquire, squinting my eyes to limit the disappointment when she declines.
“Done.” She responds.
“Huh?” Jake says. This dude should be hunting for more wolves out there, but he’s here with me; such a simp.
“You’ve seen me for a few minutes already. Do you want to repeat it again?” She inquires.
“What’s the name?” I gently ask.
“Prady, call me Prady.” She says with a high-pitched voice and my forehead is creased at that as my voice drops to a whisper, “Prady, be quiet. I’m close to you, you don’t have to shout.”
“I’ll rather have you in my pack. We need you to help us with some tasks and we will reward you greatly.” I inform her and Jake nods his head too. This dude called my twin brother, to me, is just an addition, an auxiliary brother, not a major one.
“Though I am declining this offer straight away, I STILL want to KNOW what your…” She says, alternating her tone, as she continues after glaring at me from head to toe, “… what your offers are!” And she kicks my groin afterwards.
I wince in pain as I roll to the ground. I simply hate to be kicked that way. I am mad at what she did and if she doesn’t care to apologize, I am so going to slap her on the chin. I rise to my feet, not being able to endure her laughter and Jake’s chuckles at my pain. As I intend to deliver a stinging slap to her face, she holds my hands and twitches my bones. I scream on top of my lungs and I’m certain grandfather would have heard me.
Jake starts to feel concerned but one thing I notice – those passing by didn’t give a fuck. Like, yeah, everyone’s busy and heading to work so they won’t be late, but at least, the earsplitting scream should have made them shiver. For a moment, I feel like I am in the spirit realm and I am no longer human.
I blink my eyes several times as I ask the lady, “are you a werewolf?”
She drops my arms and chuckles evilly, “nice question!”
“Why do you think no one is coming to your rescue?” She inquires and my heart starts to beat faster; I just imagined this thought in my head. Not so long ago, at all.
“I-I don’t know, honestly,” I retort sincerely.
“I’ll help you,” she asserts boldly, “but you’ll need to follow me.”
“Sure, why not?” I retort but Jake holds me back. I punch him on the nose and it starts to bleed. My fingers are hard as well as my palm. No one dares confront me, not even in an unwarranted manner.
“Walk into the pothole over there,” she instructs, “we don’t waste time here. Just do!”
My body shivers terribly as I am in between trusting her for a way of escape from grandfather, and doubting her sincerity for a trap to get caught in the underworld for ever.
“Brother, let’s go home,” Jake says but I suddenly move him closer to him as the lady slips out a handgun, strapping her fingers to it with the aim of killing him right away. We haven’t morphed yet, guns can kill us. Even Werewolves that have shifted are affected by guns when their wolves aren’t in action. The joy is that, strong people with good wolves are usually healed quickly by their wolves, unlike omegas or kids without wolves.
“Follow your guts,” Jake finally whispered into my ears. He’s as tall as I am, which is the main reason I feel disgusted when he acts so terribly like being slow at missions.
I scream on top of my lungs, but I don’t move an inch. Prady chuckles at that. Grandfather would be putting me in trouble if this doesn’t end well. I try to remember if there’s a particular and important stuff I forgot in Grandfather’s pack but Jake whispers to my ears, as though he heard my mind, “we don’t forget anything valuable. Grandfather will be on the lookout for us very soon, follow your guts and let’s arrive at a decision now.”
I turn to face Prady, “go first. We’d follow you behind.”
“I can’t go there until two of you get in there.” She responds. It reminds me of what Amanda said, and how that turned into a trick. Grandfather’s bondage pack wasn’t somewhere easy to stay, to conveniently say.
I shut my eyes and lift my hands to the moon goddess, hoping she considers me. I want to live long, puhleeze!
I scream on top of my lungs and now, I jump high and land into the pothole. I scream till I reach the bare floor. I lower my head and when I raise it, the dude in front of me was being beheaded. The next one before it gets to my turn was asked to lower his head so he would be beheaded too. I look back and more people are behind me, but Jake isn’t here. Neither is Prady.
My heart begins to throb as I feel my nightmare coming true. It is now my turn to be beheaded but I glare at the masked man, growling like though I have a wolf. I had mastered the tone so well.
He grumbles to one of the workers right there, “I told you to come with young Werewolves that haven’t shifted yet. What did you bring?”
The lady responds, “I didn’t bring the dude. We can wait for whoever brought him.”
The response reveals a light at the end of the tunnel. I smile at it, cunningly, as the masked man separates me and I wait for Prady. He continues to behead others and no one complains nor does anyone say a word. The machete is just so sharp… or wait… not a machete?
Prady and Jake suddenly drop to the ground and my mood is lifted. I suddenly feel familiar with both of them, like though we share a scent.
“You brought them?” The masked man asks Prady and she nods.
“Get back to the queue.” The man orders and I freeze in fear, “back to the queue?”
Prady quickly reaches out for me before the man will shatter my head into pieces. She glares wildly at me as she pleads with the masked man, “I am sorry on his behalf. Please.”
“Don’t beg me! Let me wound him. Even if the slightest way.” He insists
“No!” She demands. “No, I don’t want to hurt him.”
“I need to either behead him or drop one of his arms or legs or stab him so he can bleed for hours and we would drink the blood.”
When I heard, “… so we can drink the blood…”, I suddenly realize they are vampires and I’ve read about them as well. I plead with the man in Latin and both Prady and him are excited and impressed.
“Use the door,” Prady says as I clutch Jake hands to mine, mustering courage to walk past them. The masked man held the sharp instrument in his hand and Prady looks much wild. I feel like leaving here with her but if I have to be fine with her absence, then it’s all good.
As I creak the door open and leave, the sharp instrument lands on the door and it falls flat. If we were late a second, we would have been slashed that way. I guess the masked man doesn’t like slow moves.
When we reach outside, we are already close to my uncle’s pack. Prady saved us indeed and I am indebted to her now.
“I’m glad!” Jake screams with joy but I kick him to the ground.
“Should you be glad or appreciate me? You’re too dumb to have been rescued. I did all that for you!” I point at him, saying those words.
“If only you knew what transpired between I and Prady while you jumped down, you wouldn’t be saying this.” He responds.
I stare back in shock, “what transpired?”
ALEX’S POV
I drop the werewolf to the ground as the pack healer walks inside Dominic’s room, blocking his nose because of the unpleasant odor exuding from the ladies’ bodies. I wonder why their wolves didn’t heal them.
“Here are they,” I inform him, “heal them please.”
“This is a work to be done by their wolves, not by me. You shouldn’t call me in the first place,” He retorts, trying to go but I hold him back.
I shut the door and lock it, saying, “don’t take any step out of here until I ask you to. Do you understand now?”
“You’ll soon understand why you don’t need me.” He says, and I am facing him but as I face the ladies, they suddenly sprout, rising to their feet. Their wolves have healed them already. I can see Harley as well. They both look weak and tired, and I rush to meet them. I can see the pack healer dropping to the ground when I leave him to check up on the girls.
“Amanda… are you fine?” I ask, planting a kiss on her forehead. I stare at Nora too and she nods her head. I feel a warm touch from behind and when I stare back, Harley’s already pointing her tongues outside. She wants to be fucked again.
“You’re fine, aren’t you?” I ask and she nods repeatedly, demonstrating an action that suggests her desire to suck my cock.
“Hold on, let’s maintain focus,” I say and she begins to take off her clothes.
“I said, hold on!!!” I scream and the pack healer suddenly shudders. My eyes glisten at his direction, he’s healed the werewolf already. The wolf I wanted to kill.
“I thought you wanted me to heal him instead. He’s the one that was actually hurt by a wolf, not even a rogue.” He begins to say. Thought I shouted “hold on” at Harley, he thought I was referring to him.
“Harley, check up on them, let me take care of this wolf.” I say and approach the pack healer.
“Leave, sir.”
“I-I want…”
“Leave, now!” I scream at the pack healer as he unlocks the door immediately, running out of the room. I hope he doesn’t scare or disturb the peace of the pack anyways.
I drag the werewolf up and lead him to one corner of the room after slamming the door shut and locking it. A lot of silver sprinkles and wolfsbane dotes, the liquor, the injection; he can see all and he’s trying to escape.
I push him to the wall as I slip one wolfsbane injection from the drawer.
“Remove your clothes,” I release the grip on him a bit, though he can’t slip out of my hands.
“I swear, I will never reveal this to anyone – not your mate, not your friends, not your brother, not your kids!”
I grit my teeth at his last three words. Who does he think my kids are?
“Who were you referring to?” I question, looking dangerous, judging from my expression.
“Jack… Jake?” He slowly says, leaning his back towards the wall like though he’ll get through the walls and escape.
“When did I tell you that?” I ask again, and he rolls his eyes at nothingness, as he whispers, “everyone knows. I’m a wolf in this pack. Been a wolf here for at least a decade. What are you saying?”
“What am I saying?!” I scream back, “are you nuts?”
I grab a few more injections as I aim to hit him with it so he and his wolf will die on the spot.
“Stop, dad! He’s one of us. Stop!” Jack suddenly interrupts, his voice laced with concern, right from the window side.
