Jake
It’s dark. Very dark outta here. I can’t recall the last place I was before I came here or was led here. I can’t even recall who brought or forced me here. I wipe my face with my palm, hoping for a clearer eyesight. I squint my eyes just to see my brother being treated by a wolf healer. Did he involve himself in an accident already?
I hurry over to meet him but hide behind a tree close to the lady and my brother.
“I know you’re right there. Identify yourself or die.” She suddenly materializes herself behind me, with a sharp knife in her hands aiming to stab me immediately.
“Do the chills. I’m his brother.” I mutter and Jack sneezes suddenly. She quickly returns to check up on him. After a few more treatments, he becomes hale and hearty and I’m not confident enough to face my brother. He’s almost an hooligan, maybe because Alex made him undergo hard training so as to terminate any thoughts of being an hooligan. But if he’s called a bully, it’s also correct.
Though I have developed a few skills during my time here, I can now recall, but I still can’t muster the courage to face me. I feel him trailing behind me as I walk out of sight. He quickly catches up with me, grabbing my shirt forcefully and spitting onto my face.
“Guy, what the hell did you just do?” I feel annoyed at his weird moves but he only chuckles evilly.
“Simp, I ran to catch up with you. Won’t you even appreciate that?”
I roll my eyes at him, warning, “don’t look for me. Go your way.”
His expression changes at that moment. I feel I’ve achieved a goal by speaking those words as I walk out on him with confidence. A few steps away and I suddenly fall to the ground. He kicked me from behind.
“Who is your mate? I can injure you or deliver you into the hands of the killer wolf. Don’t trespass any further, OK?
His stern tone forces me to cooperate as I mutter, “OK.”
He smirks in return, “now, follow me back home.”
“I don’t want to see Dominic.”
“Same here. I guess that’s only the similarity between both of us.” He comments and drags me up, as we hurry out of sight before the silver wolf can catch up. But I hear a voice, probably hers, before we move out of sight, “somebody help me!”
“Do you know where you strolled out to?” Jack inquires, punching my chest when I take time to respond.
“I didn’t stroll out here. I think I was forced to come here. Maybe manipulated with drugs.” I respond honestly.
“You’ll explain to the pack.” He says but I stop walking, annoying him more.
“Let’s go, kid!”
“Not until you promise to keep the secret safe.”
“Promise.” He says with a smile far from being genuine on his lips.
“What about mum? What about Alec?” I ask but he shrugs his shoulders.
“My uncle is in the pack. Don’t ask about anyone until we’re together, alright?”
I nod my head affirmatively. It’s not too cool to have a bully as my twin brother, anyways.
Dominic bumps into us before we can reach the hallway leading to the dark rooms in the pack. Jack’s leading me to another eerie room and I can’t decipher what his intention is.
“My boys! Finally, both of you are here. We have to throw a feast for your arrivals.” He bursts into joy while expressing himself.
“Spend that amount of dollars on your mate. Don’t waste your life.” Jack rebuffs but I step back before he picks me instead.
“Scared idiot. You can’t even talk back at your uncle?”
“Now, I won’t take that.” Dominic frowns. I’ve gotten a tip from this argument now. I have to call Alex my father and Dominic my uncle.
“What about mum, Alpha?” I inquire with a gentle tone.
“Do you have a wolf, weakling? Stop checking up on wolves. Kids like you shouldn’t belong to a pack yet.” He derides.
“You’re so poor in composing sentences.” Jack attacks. “I really hope you can begin from the first grade again.”
“Jack, you’re passing your boundaries already!”
“Shut up! Didn’t you lock mum up? The silver wolf told me. She knew mum was locked up, by no one else except this dragon of a thing who happened to be my uncle.” Jack talks back at him as each words erupt from his lips like volcano. Dominic grits his teeth and sprints forwards to retaliate but Jack kicks his groin, holding my hands and leading me to the room where mum is. I look back at Dominic and his stares are suspicious – he could be thinking about the real terror in his pack. He will surely reconsider giving the Alpha position to him, probably he’ll choose me for having a cool nature.
We reach the room now as Jack forcefully kicks the door but it doesn’t budge. We hear some strange sounds inside the room like someone being whipped severely.
“It’s an iron door. Concrete walls. Damn.” Jack says as he hits his head at his palms. He scans the doors around the room and he eventually finds one which requires code before you can get in.
“Do you know anything about codes?” I inquire, my eyes brimming with tears. “I can never love this man.”
“I should try. And about love, I don’t want to hear it again. We will kill him. Don’t be so loud about it anyways.” He says and after a few trials, the door opens.
“The code is correct! Genius indeed.” I comment but he smirks and rearranges his coat, feeling the joy from the praise. We realize the door doesn’t open quickly so he checks the code again. It opens widely now but shuts before we can get in and that makes me stunned. Who could have done that?
