After getting a call from Julia, Edward immediately rushed. Behind the man, Kairos was seen standing waiting.
“Shouldn’t I just go alone?” Edward asked, making sure. He was worried about the repeated threats Julia had directed at him.
“Letting you go alone? Are you crazy!” Kairos exclaimed, disagreeing. Besides, he had his own calculations. “I’m worried Julia might do something reckless if she knows I’m coming with someone else, especially since you plan to bring the authorities along. For God’s sake, Julia could recklessly harm Bella.”
Kairos sighed. This was what he didn’t like about Edward. Apart from being reluctant to take risks, his thinking was also nAaron. Too cowardly and often underestimated things that clearly hadn’t been tried. Pathetic!
“It’s precisely because we both know Julia likes to be reckless and is capable of doing crazy things that I won’t let that woman act recklessly. That’s why I’m considering all possibilities.”
“What about Bella?” Edward asked, making sure. Anyway, he was worried the woman might be in danger, especially if she got hurt.
“Don’t worry,” Kairos replied casually. “I’ll make sure Bella won’t be harmed in the slightest. I’ll also ensure your future baby mama will be just fine.”
Edward nodded. Believing Bella would be fine, he decided to go to the location Julia had pointed out.
Summoning all his courage, Edward then drove alone to one of the outskirts of the city, a notorious quiet area.
Before reaching there, Edward sent a message to Julia, letting her know his current position.
Edward: I’ll be at the agreed location in five minutes.
Without waiting long, a few seconds later Julia immediately replied to the short message Edward sent.
Julia: Did you bring the money I asked for?
At that moment, Edward immediately sent a photo of the check he had already written with the amount of money Julia requested.
Edward: No need to worry. I brought what you wanted.
Julia: Good. You’re a smart guy. Well then, just wait there for a moment. I’ll meet you soon. Remember! Never bring anyone or I’ll make Bella and your baby disappear!
Upon reaching the meeting point, Edward parked his car. Looking right and left, searching just in case Julia’s car approached. He also checked Kairos’s position, who was completely out of sight. Who knows where he was hiding now.
Shortly after, Edward’s phone rang again. He checked immediately, indeed it was Julia calling.
“Where are you?” Edward asked to the point. After all, he was lazy to waste time.
“Me?” Julia replied immediately. “I’m in the black SUV parked not far from your car. Just find it yourself.”
While holding his phone, Edward looked around. Searching until his eyes caught sight of the car Julia mentioned.
“Ah, I see your car.”
“Good,” Julia replied afterward. “Well then, you can come here to meet me. Don’t forget to bring the check I asked for.”
Edward didn’t reply. After closing his phone, he sent a message to Kairos. Informing him that he would be having the meeting and asked Kairos not to act rashly.
For God’s sake, Edward was worried. Anyway, he was afraid Bella might be in a dangerous position. Especially since the woman was pregnant with his child.
That’s why, when he got out of the car, Edward seemed cautious. Observing his surroundings, then walking slowly towards the car Julia was driving.
Upon arrival, Edward waited for a moment. Then, Julia was seen opening the car window while throwing a wide smile.
“Hi, Honey. It’s been a long time since we last met. I really miss you,” Julia said cheerfully.
Edward immediately responded with a grunt. “Come on, Julia. No need for pleasantries.”
“Who’s being pleasantries?”
“Quickly hand over Bella! Besides, I’ve already complied with your request!” Edward demanded.
Julia laughed again, raising an eyebrow casually. “Why are you so impatient? Besides, can’t you see that your beloved Bitch is fine?”
Julia signaled. Reflexively, Edward glanced at the back seat. There, indeed, was Bella sitting with her hands tied and her mouth taped shut. Exactly like someone being held hostage.
“Julia, quickly hand over Bella. You could hurt her,” Edward urged.
Julia nodded, her face still appearing as calm as ever. “Don’t worry. I’ll hand over that bitch to you. But before I do, please give me what I asked for first.”
Edward took a deep breath. He stared at Julia intently, then after a moment, he pulled out a piece of paper, none other than a check with the amount of money Julia requested, from his pocket.
Edward didn’t immediately hand it over to Julia. He tightly held onto the check and spoke to Julia again. “Can I trust you?”
Julia’s brow furrowed suddenly. “What do you mean?”
“After I give you this check, will you immediately hand over Bella?” Edward clarified.
Julia laughed. “Oh, Edward. No need to be afraid. Besides, why would I take Bella away? I need your money more than I need this bitch. So, don’t worry. I promise, after receiving the check from you, you can take Bella away immediately.”
Edward listened carefully. Once convinced, he handed over the check in his hand to Julia, and of course, this made his ex-wife immediately smile brightly.
“Thank you, Honey. You always keep your promises.”
“Now, hand over Bella!”
Julia nodded. She unbuckled the seat belt that had been wrapped around her body since earlier, intending to get out of the car.
However, before Julia could even open the car door, from another direction, several cars appeared to be approaching, intending to intercept.
“Miss, it seems we’re being ambushed by the authorities!” Julia immediately looked around. At that moment, she exclaimed in disbelief.
“Edward! You’re seeking death!”
Julia tightened her seatbelt again. She signaled to the man who had been driving her car, asking him to step on the gas and flee as far as possible.
Edward, of course, didn’t just sit still. Although regretting Kairos’s hasty decision to alert the authorities, he didn’t want to lose track and immediately joined the pursuit.
Driving his car, Edward tried to catch up. He continued to follow even as the car Julia was in sped up and began to enter the city.
With Kairos and the authorities, Edward continued to pursue. However, Julia seemed relentless. There was no sign of her wanting to surrender.
Knowing the roads they were on, Edward decided to find a shortcut. Hoping that he would be able to intercept and stop the car Julia was driving.
Passing through several small alleys, Edward continued to search for a quick route. Upon reaching the end of the road, he prepared to intercept.
However, Edward seemed to have miscalculated. Instead of stopping or slowing down her car, the driver of Julia’s car immediately crashed. The impact was so strong that Edward’s car was thrown far away and eventually overturned.
The accident was inevitable. Even the car Julia was driving overturned. It was even thrown into the road barrier.

“Bella… are you okay?”

“This is Samuel. Right now, you’re in the hospital’s emergency department.”
“The hospital?”
Samuel nodded. “Yes. Some time ago, you were in a serious accident. Fortunately, your condition isn’t fatal.”
Bella tried to take a few breaths. Afterward, she remembered that she had been chased on the road and eventually had an accident.
“Doctor, i-is my baby okay?”
Bella looked extremely worried. She was afraid that something might happen to the baby she was carrying.
Samuel smiled. “Don’t worry. I’ve checked your baby too, and it’s in a normal condition. You only have some scratches and a little trauma.”
