“Are you feeling much more comfortable now?” Kairos asked Bella. This morning, they were indeed enjoying breakfast together. Although it felt incredibly awkward, from now on Kairos was trying to get used to it. He wanted to make Bella feel comfortable and not stressed while staying with him. If necessary, Kairos would help Bella forget and erase Edward’s name from her memory.
“I’m okay, Kairos. Thank you for all the help you’ve given me. I swear, I don’t know how to repay you. I feel bad about it.”
Kairos smiled faintly. He understood what Bella was feeling right now.
“If it makes you feel bad, just give it to the cat.”
“Huh?” Bella was confused by Kairos’s joke.
“Besides,” Kairos continued. “Don’t hesitate or feel bad. I’m doing this purely because I want to help you.”
Bella nodded. She was very grateful in her heart for what Kairos had done for her.
“But, someday, I promise I’ll repay your kindness. You can hold me to my word.”
Kairos just laughed. He invited Bella to continue enjoying her breakfast calmly. After they were full and sat for a while, this time Kairos invited Bella to go for a check-up.
“I’ve made an appointment with Samuel today. Since you still need to have your check-up, I’ll take you there.”
Bella didn’t immediately agree. She stared at Kairos for a moment after he expressed his intention.
“A check-up? But… what if when I leave the house, I accidentally run into Edward or even Julia.” Bella then shook her head. Her face immediately showed fear.
“Don’t worry.” Kairos tried to reassure Bella. He convinced her not to keep feeling afraid. “I’ve made sure you won’t meet Edward or Julia while having your check-up today.”
“Are you sure?”
Kairos nodded repeatedly. Rising from his seat, he reached out his hand, inviting Bella to get up from her seat.
“Let’s go. I’ll take you. I promise you won’t meet them both.”
Looking up, Bella looked at Kairos while diving into his blue eyes. From there, after seeing that Kairos was sincere with his words, Bella agreed to get up and then follow where he led her.
Arriving at the hospital, Kairos accompanied Bella first to Samuel’s practice room. Since they had made an appointment, they didn’t need to queue or wait any longer.
“We finally meet again, Bella.”
Samuel warmly welcomed Bella as she entered the room. Samuel immediately invited Bella to lie down on the patient’s bed. After that, he approached Kairos and spoke to him for a moment.
“Sam, please check as usual. Then take care of and accompany Bella here,” Kairos ordered.
“Aren’t you coming in?”
Kairos shook his head.
“There are important matters I need to attend to right now. If everything is done, I’ll come back to pick up Bella.”
Samuel nodded understandingly. He didn’t refuse to do what Kairos asked him to do.
“Alright. I’ll keep Bella here.”
“My people will watch and supervise outside. So, you don’t need to worry,” Kairos whispered afterwards.
“Oh my… this is a hospital, Kairos. No need to exaggerate. Who would cause trouble here?”
Kairos shrugged his shoulders.
“Who knows. Besides, I’m just anticipating unwanted things. Anyway, I have to go now.”
Kairos then entered the room, approached the patient’s bed, and spoke to Bella.
“Bella… I’m going to leave for a while to finish my work. You can stay here comfortably to have your check-up with Samuel. If you need anything or something happens, my people outside are ready to help you.”
Bella nodded. She allowed Kairos to finish his work.
“Alright then. Thank you so much for your help, Kairos.”
“It’s okay. I’ll leave now. I’ll pick you up later when everything is done.”
Once Kairos left, Samuel, as usual, performed the check-up. To avoid awkwardness, he engaged Bella in conversation as usual.
“How’s your pregnancy been lately, Bella? Any complaints?”
While lying down, Bella shook her head softly. Fortunately, there were no significant complaints she felt.
“No, doctor. It’s just that, these past few days, I’ve been having trouble sleeping soundly.”
“Is it because your baby is too active? Or perhaps you’re having trouble sleeping due to having a lot on your mind and being stressed?”
“Maybe everything,” Bella replied then chuckled softly. “Lately, I can’t deny that my mind is filled with various thoughts. Starting from my mother, my baby, the complicated issues I’m facing, and also about—”
“Edward?” Samuel guessed as if knowing what Bella was about to say. “I’m sure the main reason you have trouble sleeping is because you’re thinking too much about Edward. Am I right?”
Bella laughed bitterly. Ashamed of herself.
“Yes, I’m not talented in lying to a doctor. To be honest, I regret putting too much hope in Edward. As you know, it ended up like this, I swear, I’m not interested in being close, let alone getting involved with him.”
“Don’t blame yourself,” Samuel said as he continued to listen. “This isn’t entirely your fault, Bella.”
“But… doc. I admit, I’m the stupid one here. I shouldn’t have had high expectations from the start. It’s not easy to melt, let alone fall in love with a man who’s clearly married. I thought, by being in a relationship and successfully winning his heart, I could be the only woman by his side. Turns out I was wrong. Edward doesn’t truly love me.”
“But, in my opinion, Edward does love you, Bella,” Samuel tried to speak candidly. “If I may, Edward clearly seems to love you more. It’s just that, as Kairos said, he’s foolish and indecisive.”
Bella laughed lightly.
“Yes. He’s so indecisive that he can’t even make a choice. And in the end, he still chooses to go back to Julia. Then, what does he consider our time together? That’s why I say I’m the dumbest one here, Doc. Why fall in love and hope for more with the wrong man?”
Listening to Bella’s seemingly deeply wounded words, coupled with her melancholic expression, made Samuel feel pity.
“Be patient, Bella.”
Bella nodded.
“Of course, doc. Every night I pray for these nightmares to end soon. And one thing I’m sure of, may those who try to harm me or even try to kill me, someday receive just punishment.”
“Regarding the despicable acts Julia has done, don’t worry. Kairos will deal with that crazy woman.”
Bella nodded confidently. Even Kairos said the same thing. He would settle the score and wouldn’t let go of Julia, who was clearly a venomous snake.
“And about your baby…” Samuel continued. “Aren’t you interested in telling Edward its status?”
Bella hurriedly shook her head.
“I think the right decision is not to tell him from the beginning. Especially after Edward openly chose Julia, claiming he wanted to protect me. Oh my, doctor, I really don’t want him to know that the baby in my womb is our child. That’s why I chose to leave and pray to never meet him again.”
“If this is your decision, I’ll also continue to keep the status of this baby secret. I hope, in the future, you and your unborn child can live peacefully and, of course, happier than now.”
Samuel then continued to examine Bella’s pregnancy. He reached for the ultrasound lever, then aimed it directly above Bella’s abdomen. Checking the baby’s condition, then for a moment looked surprised.
“Why, doc? Is there a problem?”
Bella, realizing Samuel’s strange demeanor, immediately asked. Worried that something might happen to her baby.
“No, Bella. I was just surprised by what I saw.”
Bella raised both her eyebrows, curious.
“Surprised? What happened?”
“Just now, I saw and I believe that the baby in your womb isn’t just one. But it turns out there are two.”
Bella was immediately shocked to hear Samuel’s confession.
“What do you mean, doctor… twins?”
Samuel nodded. He confirmed Bella’s question.
“Yes. And this could happen. Because Edward himself was born as a twin. So, it’s possible his genes passed down to your children. Congratulations again, Bella. Hopefully, these babies will be healthy until the time of your delivery.”
Bella was touched. She considered this a blessing. Who would have thought that the baby in her womb was twins? That meant she would get two little babies who would accompany her days at once.
Meanwhile, elsewhere, Kairos was seen having a meeting with someone. They seemed to be engaged in a serious and important conversation.
“So, Julia is really pregnant?”
The man nodded.
“Yes.”
“Do you already know who might be the father of the baby?”
“I don’t know,” the man replied. “But, most likely, Julia hopes Santiago is the one who impregnated her.”
Then, the man handed something over.
“This is the schedule that Julia will follow in the next few days. Everything is complete and already included in the folder.”
Kairos nodded. He took the brown folder given by the man in front of him. Then he read and examined it carefully.
“So, today and tomorrow this promiscuous woman will spend time with Santiago Moralez.”
The man nodded.
“Yes. Julia has to serve Santiago for these two days.”
“Such a crazy woman. Still finding time to cheat at a time like this. In that case, keep watching. Let me know if there’s any other important information before tomorrow I put on a big show.”
