Since they were already there, Edward invited Bella to have dinner together. As a gesture of appreciation, he allowed her to order whatever she liked.
“I’d like the premium Roast Meat with blueberry sauce. For the drink, the ocean squase. That should be more than enough.”
The waiter took note of Bella’s order. Then, it was Edward’s turn to order.
“I’ll have the same from the food menu to the drinks.”
“Very well, Sir. Please wait a moment. Let us prepare.”
Fortunately, the service there was very fast. Just waiting for 15 minutes, what Bella and Edward ordered arrived and was served immediately.
Bella seemed the most enthusiastic. Previously, she rarely ate such expensive food. That’s why she felt lucky to be invited by Edward to a luxurious restaurant, which was undoubtedly expensive.
Bella observed Edward, who was focused on cutting the meat on his plate into small pieces. She thought that after everything was cut up, Edward would immediately eat it. But what happened unexpectedly surprised her. Edward lifted his plate and exchanged it with Bella’s.
“Please, enjoy.”
Bella was stunned for a moment. Her heart was touched by such a sweet gesture.
“Bella.” Edward called out when Bella remained silent without responding. “Are you okay?”
Bella quickly nodded.
“I-I’m fine, Sir.”
“I think it would be better if you just call me by my name. Honestly, I feel uncomfortable being called ‘Sir’ all the time.”
“But, I’m afraid Mrs. Julia will be angry.”
Edward shrugged, uncaring.
“She won’t. Julia won’t be angry with you.”
“Very well.”
“In that case, please try the meat while it’s still warm.”
Bella smiled. She happily ate the meat that Edward had cut for her one by one. While enjoying the meal, they talked for a long time for the first time.
“So, are you really a bachelor’s degree graduate in accounting?”
“Yes,” Bella nodded. “Before, I even pursued a master’s degree while working. But after being laid off and using up my savings to finance my mother’s treatment, I decided to drop out of school.”
“That’s a shame. I think your abilities are excellent. If you don’t mind, after giving birth, you could try working in my company.”
Bella smiled. When it had been so difficult to find a job before, of course, she wouldn’t reject what Edward offered.
“Are you serious?”
While spooning his food, Edward nodded. “You can work in my company anytime.”
“Thank you so much, Sir. Ah, I mean Edward.”
Edward didn’t hesitate. After finishing their dinner, he escorted Bella home immediately. After all, he knew that pregnant women shouldn’t stay up too late.
Upon arriving home, everything went smoothly without any problems. However, as they were just a few steps away from entering the room, Bella suddenly grabbed onto the wall, one hand clutching her side.
“Bella, are you okay?”
Edward, who saw the incident, quickly approached. He helped Bella slowly enter the room and then guided her to sit on one side of the bed.
“You should drink some water first.”
Edward then offered a glass of water. After making sure Bella drank half of it, he approached again to ensure the condition of the woman who was carrying his child.
“What’s wrong? Should we go to the hospital?”
Bella shook her head.
“No… I don’t think it’s necessary.”
“Are you sure?” Edward asked to make sure. “But earlier, you seemed to be in so much pain.”
“No, Edward. I’m not in pain. I was just surprised.”
Edward then furrowed his brows in confusion.
“Surprised?”
“Yes,” Bella nodded. Then, boldly, she pulled Edward to sit beside her. Then, grabbing one of Edward’s wrists, Bella placed it directly on the surface of her stomach.
“Bella, what are you—”
Edward, who was confused, stopped his sentence. His eyes widened when he felt something faintly moving as if kicking the surface of Bella’s stomach.
“Goodness, Bella. I just—”
“Yes,” Bella interrupted immediately. “You felt it, didn’t you? And that’s what made me surprised earlier.”
“The baby in your stomach is moving?”
Bella nodded.
“Yes. It seems like he intentionally kicked my stomach.”
Edward, who was so enthusiastic, then placed his palm back on Bella’s stomach. With a feeling of amazement, he gently stroked it, and immediately, he was responded to with kicks from the baby inside Bella’s stomach.
“Oh my God… it seems like he senses my presence.”
Edward couldn’t even hide his happiness. The small kicks caused by the baby seemed to mesmerize him.
“Tomorrow, I have to call Samuel. Or we can go to the hospital to announce this.”
Bella laughed at Edward’s behavior.
“I don’t think it’s necessary. It seems normal for the movements of the baby in my current stage of pregnancy to start being felt.”
“Oh God, Bella. I’m truly happy.”
Overwhelmed with joy, Edward reached for both of Bella’s hands. He held them gently while looking into her eyes.
“Thank you so much, Bella.”
“Thank you? Thank you for what?” Bella looked puzzled when Edward suddenly thanked her.
“Thank you for taking care of the pregnancy and our future baby so well.”
“It should be that way.”
“By God, I can’t wait for this baby to be born.”
Bella was also happy.
“I’m sure when the baby is born, he’ll look so much like you.”
Edward continued to smile broadly. Perhaps it was because they were both carried away by the atmosphere or the euphoria of happiness they both felt, Edward leaned in to gently kiss Bella.
As if caught in the moment, Bella didn’t refuse at all. She returned what Edward gave. Even when he led her to lie down slowly, Bella complied.
Their kiss lasted quite a while. Until finally, Edward realized, he quickly pulled away. He felt uncomfortable. He was already prepared to get up from Bella’s body.
“Bella… I’m sorry,” Edward whispered, feeling guilty. He was ready to get up from Bella’s body. “I didn’t mean to—”
“No need to apologize,” Bella replied. Then, without saying a word, she wrapped both of her hands around Edward’s neck. Slowly, she pulled him closer, then gave him a kiss, and whispered softly afterward.
“You’re free to do anything.”
