“Surprise!”
Edward immediately looked up. Casting his gaze towards the door, he saw Samuel and Kairos suddenly visiting his office this afternoon. Whether it was for what business, seeing Kairos’s mysterious smile truly made Edward feel uneasy.
“What are you two doing here?”
Samuel smiled. Sitting down immediately, he answered Edward’s question without beating around the bush.
“Kairos had the idea to meet you at the office. He said he was in a good mood and wanted to treat us to lunch at an expensive restaurant.”
Kairos folded his arms in front of his chest. Putting on his usual arrogant expression, which made Edward feel nauseous.
“Ah, I’m busy!”
Kairos clicked his tongue.
“Oh, come on. I haven’t splurged in a long time. Today, you’re free to choose the restaurant. Let me treat you until you’re full.”
“Why not tonight instead? Didn’t we agree to have dinner together?”
Kairos nodded.
“If it’s tonight, it’s your business, Ed. But this is a different story.”
“Oh God, Kairos. Why are you making me dizzy?”
“Come on. Even though I’m inviting you for a free meal. But why complain? You’re so strange!”
Samuel intervened. Otherwise, the argument between Kairos and Edward would never end.
“Come on, Ed. Just go along with it. Besides, I’m hungry because I just finished surgery and Kairos kidnapped me to meet you.”
Edward sighed heavily. Since he couldn’t refuse, he eventually agreed to Samuel and Kairos’s invitation for lunch.
Covent Garden was the restaurant Kairos chose this afternoon. He knew very well that Edward had always liked all the dishes on the restaurant’s menu.
“Don’t you want to say thank you?”
Edward turned his head. His brow immediately furrowed.
“Thank you for what?”
“Thank you because I treated you to a meal at this legendary place.”
“Oh, don’t exaggerate.”
Kairos clicked his tongue.
“Stubborn as always. But by the way, it’s your birthday today. Did Julia remember and give you a greeting?”
Edward casually nodded.
“For the birthday wishes, she just said them this morning.”
“This morning?”
Edward nodded again.
“Yes. Actually, she remembered a few days ago. She even asked me to have dinner together. That’s why I’ve already made a reservation at Nesville.”
“And it turns out Julia went out on your birthday? What kind of wife is she?”
Edward still looked calm.
“Let it be. I’m too lazy to bother.”
Kairos, who was sitting in front of Edward, then leaned forward. He looked seriously at his friend.
“Don’t you suspect your wife at all?”
“Suspect what?”
“Well, who knows if she actually went abroad not for work but to have fun with another man. You’re wealthy, Ed. Why not hire someone to watch over your wife?”
“Kairos…” Edward understood where Kairos was going with this conversation. However, suddenly, he remembered the incident this morning when talking to Julia on the phone. He was actually curious. But because he was too lazy to bother, he ignored it as usual. “No need to blow it out of proportion.”
“I’m not trying to provoke you. I just want you to open your eyes a little. Don’t regret it later.”
Edward fell silent. His face changed to an uncomfortable expression. And realizing that, Samuel immediately changed the topic of conversation.
“Tonight, are you taking Bella out for dinner, right?”
Edward turned to Samuel.
“Yes. I’ve invited her to join us.”
“Good, then. Just so you know, Bella also needs entertainment, Ed. Pregnant women can get stressed if they’re kept indoors for too long.”
“So, what do you think I should do?”
“Just let her go out of the house occasionally. Ask your assistants and drivers to take her out for a stroll.”
“I will do that.”
“And one more thing…” This time Samuel’s face was more serious than before. “We both know that Bella’s pregnancy has entered the second trimester. There’s something you need to know and understand.”
“What about?”
“About the increased sexual desire Bella will surely experience.”
Edward coughed. He was stunned by Samuel’s words.
“What do you mean?”

Edward immediately punched Kairos’s arm. He couldn’t let the man blabber recklessly.
“Don’t be ridiculous!”
“Stop,” Samuel intervened. “That’s not what I meant.”
“Then what, Sam? Don’t beat around the bush!”
“I’m not done yet, but you’re already cutting me off. The point of this notification is that I want you to remind Bella to focus more and exercise regularly. If you’re too embarrassed to tell her directly, I can help explain. Or you could ask Clara to explain to Bella so her focus shifts to other activities.”
“Ah, the best and most effective way everywhere to channel sexual desire is through intimate relations. How can exercising make someone forget and divert their focus? So, if Edward agrees, I’m ready—”
Edward quickly silenced Kairos with his hand. He wouldn’t let the man blabber recklessly.
That night, as planned, Edward got ready to go out to dinner with Bella and their two friends.
Sitting in the living room, Edward deliberately waited for Bella, who was getting ready. Five minutes later, she finally came downstairs. Approaching him, she greeted him.
“Mr. Edward.”
Edward turned. Seeing Bella in her evening gown and looking very beautiful, he was immediately captivated.
“Mr.?” Bella addressed him again when she noticed Edward was silent.
“Ah, y-yeah. Let’s go.”
Bella nodded in agreement. Following Edward to the car, they headed to Nasvile, the restaurant Edward had booked.
Upon arrival, neither Kairos nor Samuel were anywhere to be seen. Even after waiting for more than 30 minutes, the two men still hadn’t shown up. This made Edward wonder and decide to contact them one by one.
“Sam, where are you? You didn’t forget about tonight’s event, did you?”
“Edward… I don’t think I can make it to your dinner event. There’s a patient who needs to undergo a cesarean section. I apologize for not being able to attend tonight.”
“Well, it’s okay. I’ll just contact Kairos then.”
Edward then contacted Kairos. Although reluctant, he also had to make sure if his friend remembered or if he might already be on his way.
“Where are you?” Edward asked when Kairos answered his phone.
“I’m on the way.”
“Oh, thank goodness. I thought you forgot.”
“No, Ed. I’m not on my way to the restaurant.”
“What do you mean?”
“Kimberly just called. She’s in trouble for getting into a fight with some guys. I’m asked to help her out.”
“Oh, God. So, you can’t make it?”
“I’m really sorry. I hope Bella is with you right now. If so, just enjoy dinner with Bella. Besides, there’s no harm, right?”
Edward hung up and took a deep breath. Both Samuel and Kairos unexpectedly didn’t show up tonight. He could cancel, but the food had already been ordered. Besides, he knew Bella hadn’t had her dinner yet either.
“Why, Sir? Is there a problem?” Bella dared to ask, sensing that something was amiss.
“No, there isn’t.” Edward shook his head. “Just now, Samuel and Kairos told me they couldn’t make it.”
“So, should we just go home?”
Edward shook his head again.
“No. We definitely don’t need to. Besides, isn’t it okay if it’s just the two of us tonight?”
Bella nodded with a smile.
“Of course.”
Bella smiled. Whether they were four, three, or just the two of them, it didn’t matter. What mattered was she could have dinner with a man as handsome as Edward. This rare moment might not happen again tomorrow or the day after. So, she would just enjoy it.
