CHAPTER EIGHTY-ONE
ASHER’S POV
“Asher” Rowan calls immediately I step out of my car. He rushes towards me and I wonder what’s wrong.
Did anything happen while I was away?
“Rowan, what’s the matter?”
“The Witch… she was here. She has asked us all to meet her at her cottage right now, including Astrid. We need to get going bro.”
“Get Astrid and Arya ready, I need to talk with Freya before I leave”
“I will do just that”
“You all meet me out here in five minutes”
“Yes, brother” He walks over to Arya’s chambers while I make my way into my bedroom where I meet Freya lying on the bed. The moment she sees me, she jumps down and walks towards me looking very worried.
“Baby, how did it go?”
“Was this your plan as well? Did you know about this?” I ask in rage and she gives me a confused look.
“Baby, I don’t understand. What are you talking about”
“Your father promised to let me and my people be if I get married to you. Now I have, but he still doesn’t want to let us be. Was this your plan all along?”
“No… I swear I didn’t know about this. Father promised me he was going to spare you when we get married, I didn’t know he was going to go back on his words. Please Asher, don’t hate me for my father’s actions. Please, for the sake of the child I’m carrying ”
“Well, too bad, because I already hate you! Brace yourself because once this is over and you have my child , I will send you packing out of this pack. You days here are numbered, I promise you that”
I turn around and exit the bedroom before she can say another word.
I meant everything I said in there.
If the witch has summoned us all today, it means now is the time to end everything.
To end Adolph’s tyranny.
To free the people of the Black Wood Pack and to free myself from this bondage called marriage.

When I step out of the castle, I see Arya, Astrid and Rowan already waiting for me.
“What’s going on?” Astrid asks confused and without saying a word, I engulf her in a big bear hug.
This journey is not going to be an easy one for her, but we all will be there to assist her.
“Alpha Asher…”
“Astrid” I call as I hold her by shoulders and pull her a little away from my body so I can look into her charming ocean blue eyes that have got a thousand different emotions swimming in them right now.
“We have to go somewhere important right now”
“Where’s that?” She asks with searching eyes.
“I really can’t start explaining it all to you, but you will understand everything when we get there. It’s going to be a tedious journey, so I need you to be strong for you and the baby. We all will be there to assist you”
“You are scaring me.”
“Don’t be scared love, everything is going to be fine. Come on” I lead her to the front seat of the car where I open the door for her to get in.
Aryra and Rowan sit behind while I take the driver’s seat.
Once we are all settled in, I mindlink Kane to stay alert for any attack from Alpha Adolph before I ignite the car engine and drive away.
I don’t know what lies ahead.
I don’t know what will happen after this, but I pray it all ends well, because I am honestly sick and tired of being confused and frustrated every day of my life.

“I’m glad you all could make it” The witch announces once we get into her house. I lead Astrid over to a chair where I put her to sit down.
She is exhausted from the long walk and I feel so sorry for her. She looks so weak that I’m scared that something is going happen to her.
“Can you please check on her?” I ask the witch and she walks over to us. “She looks so tired. The walk was quite a long one for her”
“She’s just tired. I’ll get her something to drink so she can regain her strength faster.” She disappears into her kitchen and I sit by Astrid’s side and start to take off the sweater she has on.
Her body is completely drenched with sweat.
“Are you alright?” I ask concerned and she nods her head.
“Yeah” she answers weakly. “I’m just tired, that’s all. I’m going to be alright.”
“Here, drink this.” The witch says handing a cup to her.
Astrid reluctantly takes the cup, looking up at the witch with so much fear in her eyes.
“Are you a witch?” She suddenly asks and the witch nods her head.
“Yes, I am”
“I didn’t know there were witches around here”
“There’s just one witch though and that’s me”
“Oh…”
“Drink up so you can regain your energy. There’s alot to be done today” She instructs and Astrid immediately empties the content of the cup and hands the cup to me.
“So, you mean to say all this has to end today?” Rowan asks impatiently and the witch nods.
“May I ask a question?” I ask looking at her.
“Yeah, go on”
“How did this all start? How was Adolph able to defeat Alpha Tarlishi? How did he get so powerful?”
This is something I have always wanted to know and I hope she makes me understand.
“Well, it all started with me.”
“With you?” We all ask in unison and she gently nods her head.
“Yes, it all started with me. Normally, a witch is supposed to live for a hundred years and after that, her powers have to be transfered to someone choosen by the moon goddess and this choosen one will also have to live for a hundred years and the cycle goes on”
“So, what exactly does this witch do. What role does she play in the werewolf world?”
“Well, she is a symbol of peace. The Alphas come to her when they have a dispute to settle, she protects the packs from being discovered by the humans and many other things I can’t start saying right now. She is sent by the moon goddess to make sure the werewolf world is in tact.”
“So… what happened? How did the werewolf world get miserable all of a sudden?”
“I got selfish. I got tired of living this isolated life. I begged the Moon goddess and my ancestors to take the powers from me, but they wouldn’t even though my time of reign was over. I have lived for over a hundred years and I was supposed to be with my ancestors by now, but they refused to take me because they haven’t found someone to transfer the powers to. I got mad so I decided to become recalcitrant. When Adolph came to me for power, I gave it to him. I did everything he asked me to do, little did I know I was literally destroying the entire werewolf world. The moon goddess got mad and decided to punish everyone, all because of me. You all cannot detect your mates because of me, Adolph is the tyrant he is today because of me. When I realized what I did, I begged the moon goddess for forgiveness and I swore to help you defeat him, so she forgave me and gave me time to prepare for the redemption of the werewolf world. Now is the time for your redemption”
“So, you mean to say, there is a way out of all this trouble. There is away for things to get back to normal?”
“Yes, there is”
“Can you please tell us?” I ask impatiently abd she takes in a deep breath as she looks from Astrid to me.
“The first thing you need to know is that you and Astrid are mates” She announces and we all gasp on shock as we exchange confused glances before looking back at her.
“What?” I ask aghast and she nods.
“Yes, it’s true. I have known from the beginning. You and Astrid are mates. Astrid” She calls as she focuses her gaze on Astrid. “Remember the night you heard the strange voice when you were still a slave in your father’s pack?”
“Oh… Yes I do”
“I was the one who spoke to you. Remember I told you you needed to be strong inorder to reclaim what was lost, now is the time. For you to get back your father’s pack, you need to kill Adolph!”
“I would gladly do that!”
“Good. Now that you have mated with your mate, you have the power to do so. The baby in your womb is the main reason why only you can kill him, so for as long as you carry that baby, all you need to do is stab him with the dagger of purity and he will die. Once he dies, the curse on the werewolves will be broken and everything will be back to normal.” She explains and I look at her confused.
“But… how is she going to do that when the dagger of purity has been destroyed?”
I ask totally confused and she smiles.
“No, it hasn’t”
“What do you mean?” Rowan asks equally confused and my mouth drops when she takes out the dagger from her hair and shows it to us .
“How… how is this possible?” Arya asks in pure shock as she pokes her head forward to look at it clearly.
“When you brought this dagger to me that day, I didn’t give you back the original. I gave you the fake one because I knew Freya was going to try to steal it. This is the original dagger and all you need to do is pierce it through his heart and end all this crises.” She explains as she hands over the dagger to Astrid who takes it with trembling hands.
“This is your chance to set things right. If you succeed, we all get our happy ending, but if you lose, we all meet our doom! Now go!” She orders and immediately, we all rise on our feet and exit the magical living room.
This is the end for Alpha Adolph.
