CHAPTER SEVENTY-THREE
ASHER’S POV
Rowan had to go back to the training ground while I took Astrid home. When I arrived, I expected to meet Freya in the living room and have her bring up a fight, but I didn’t see her, so I just walked straight into my bedroom with Astrid still in my arms.
Right now, I’m sitting by the bedside with my left hand gently caressing her stomach.
I still can’t believe my little pup is growing in there.
I wonder if she even knows that she is pregnant.
This is adorable.
Astrid carrying my child is the most adorable thing ever and I swear I will do everything I can to make things right …
“Alpha Asher!!” I hear Freya’s voice call from the door outside and I abruptly rise up from the bed and head towards the door. When I get there, I gently open the door and as she tries to force her way in, I stop her by holding her by the shoulders and shoving her outside. I step out as well and close the door behind me.
“You have no right to bring in another woman into this chambers without my permission. We are married now and I have the right to decide who comes in to stay and who doesnot.” Without uttering a single word. I hold her by the hand pull her all the way to the West Wing, into the bedroom we both share.
“Let me go!” She fights back once we are in and I quickly let go of her hand. “What is wrong with you?”
“You, Freya, you are wrong with me. You drive me crazy!”
“Why can’t you just treat me right for once in your life? I am doing all I can to be a good wife to you, but nothing I do ever seems to please you. Right now, you have brought in another woman to come and live with us. What did I do to deserve this kind of treatment” She says crying hard and I give her a disgusted look as I take a step forward.
“Seriously Freya? Tears? You are seriously shedding tears right now? You brought this upon yourself! You brought this upon us, because you thought being a spoilt brat is such a cool thing. You lived in this castle for months, you saw that I feel nothing for you, you saw the chemistry between Astrid and I. You know this wasn’t going to work, but you decided to be egocentric and thoughtless. Look where it has landed you. Can you really blame me for all this? I love Astrid and she is the only one I’m ever going treat right in my life. I don’t love you, Freya and hell will have to break loose before I ever treat you like a human being, talk less of a wife!”
“You are cruel Asher, you are so cruel!” She turns around to walk away but her legs give way and she falls to the ground. I rush over to her and take into my arms, panicking.
She just fainted.
What is wrong with these girls and fainting today?

“Asher, what’s wrong?” Rowan asks as he rushes towards me. We are back in the same hospital corridor.
“It’s Freya. We had a fight about me bringing Astrid in and she suddenly fainted”
“Fainted.”
“Yeah”
“Bro, could it be that she is pregnant as well?”
“Please Rowan, don’t say that. Freya cannot be pregnant as well. That will be a different kind of messed up situation. I’m sure she’s just stressed up because I said a lot of mean things to her”
“This is not the first time you are saying mean things to Freya, bro. She has never fainted before, why now?”
“FREYA IS NOT PREGNANT!” I scold, causing Rowan to jump in fright.
She can’t be pregnant.
She cannot be pregnant.
“I’m sorry bro” He apologizes and guilt stabs my heart like a thousand daggers.
It was wrong of me to do that.
He only cares about me and I had no right to scold him like that.
“Look Rowan… I…”
“It’s okay bro, it’s okay. I understand. I would react the same way if I were in your shoes. I just… I just want you to know that I’m here for you, no matter what happens. We will go through this together. I promise”
“Thank you!” I engulf him in a brotherly hug as tears come streaming down my cheeks. “Thank you so much”
“You are welcome brother.”
“I love you” I confess as I gently stroke his hair with my fingers.
“I know and I love you too”
We both stay in eachother’s arms for quite a while and only break the hug when a voice calls my name.
“Alpha Asher”
I disengage myself from the hug and turn to look at whom I presume to be the doctor.
“Doctor, please tell me she is not pregnant” I plead almost in tears and the doctor looks from me to Rowan, with a bewildered expression plastered on his face, probably wondering why a man would bring his wife to the hospital and wish she was not pregnant instead.
“I… well…” The doctor stutters.
“Just say it” Rowan urges.
“Luna Freya is pregnant”
The announcement hits my ear drums like a loud church bell and I unconsciously lower myself to the floor.
I only hear faint voices and footsteps walking away and soon, I feel someone lower himself by myside. I turn and see Rowan looking at me.
“What?” I ask and he just shrugs.
“Remember one time I was here for holidays, I used to hate going for training” I start to narrate and he chuckles.
“You convinced me to boycotting training and go for a swim in the lake” He continues
“And dad caught us” I conclude and we both laugh. “He gave us the beating of our lives. Mum got so angry that she took us all to her parents’ house. Dad had to come the following day and beg her to come back home and since then, he never beat us up again”
“Yeah, he never did. But he had a habit of locking me up in my toilet anytime I did something wrong. I swear dad was Savage!” Rowan explains further and all I can do is laugh.
Our father was indeed a savage man.
“If he was here, things would have been way better” I say sadly.
“You don’t know that”
“I know”
“No you don’t. Look, I know where you driving to. You are trying to say all these things are happening because you are a bad leader”
“Am I not?”
“No, you aren’t.”
“If I was a good leader, all this would not have been happening”
“You are a good leader Ash, I can bet my life on that. Adolph is a tyrant, that’s why he keeps having his way with us and you keeping letting him not because you cannot retaliate, but because you care about our people. You know what Adolph can do to them and you try as much as you can to avoid it. You could still refuse to marry Freya and let him do his worst, but you decided to marry her to maintain peace. You put your subjects before yourself, before you happiness and not every leader knows how to do that”
“I feel like that’s not enough. I’m not doing enough”
“That’s another trait that makes you a good leader, you always want to do more for your people, but you can’t kill yourself. Relax”
“How can I relax when both Freya and Astrid are carrying my babies? How do I handle this situation.”
“You do believe in the moon goddess, don’t you?”
“Yes, I do believe in her”
“Then stop whining trust her to perform a miracle in this situation” He taps my shoulder and rises on his feet. “Let’s go see Freya. I hate her but I love my niece or nephew she is carrying”
I wipe off the tears from my face and rise up on my feet.
Dear Moon goddess, I’m trusting you to take control.
