Dorothy was still looking up the professional terms that the doctors told her in the examination room with her mobile phone. Germaine poked her arms gently, and she looked up only to see her passionate man who was waiting in the elevator.
She could feel the warmth from the corner of his eyes and the tips of his eyebrows. She could feel it even though they were a few meters away.
Germaine was somewhat envious, however, she also knew that if she was caught as an annoying third wheel, Credence would glare at her so sharply that it felt like being stabbed by a knife.
For the sake of that huge sum of money, she decided to leave for the time being.
“Dory, I’ll take Belle back to the ward first. You and Mr. Scott can go ahead. I’ll look after Belle, I promise that she won’t lose even a single strand of her hair.”
Dorothy looked at her helplessly and said, “Belle is already bald. She doesn’t have any hair left.”
“Ahem… sorry, my bad.”
Germaine secretly glanced at the man with a terrifying aura, and she received his signal for her to leave. She was so scared that she took a deep breath, turned around, and quickly entered another elevator as though escaping from a monster behind her. She left without looking back.
When Dorothy saw this, she found it amusing. Germaine had always been a fearless woman. However, every time she saw Credence, she was like a mouse looking at a cat. It was so funny.
She stood in front of the man, lowered her head, and said softly. “Germaine is my best friend. Can’t you be nicer to her?”
“I will only show kindness to you!”
Dorothy was left speechless by that beautiful sentence. She suppressed the sweetness she felt in her heart and glared at him helplessly. “Your words are getting sweeter by the day. Where did you learn all of this?”
He allowed her to gently push him into the elevator, Credence held her white little hand tightly and moved it close to his heart. He said faintly, “After Benjamin came back from Kowloon City, he had the urge to buy a lot of books that taught him how to flirt and pursue women. When I got bored, I would read them from time to time. I remembered most of the general information inside and used it!”
“However, Benjamin studies these things attentively day and night, he even practices it repeatedly. Even so, he still hasn’t made any progress with Ivana. He was so angry that he gave me all of those books.”
“Benjamin is young and handsome with an annual income of over a million dollars, he has a bright future ahead of him. Is Ivana really that difficult to handle?”
Dorothy was quite surprised, but she suddenly came back to her senses and withdrew her hand. She looked disdainful as though she was blaming Benjamin. “She looks down on Benjamin because she is thinking about you, isn’t she?”
“As long as I have a wife, it doesn’t matter how badly other people think of me, it would all be in vain.”
Credence’s eyes were sharp and his hands were nimble. He grabbed her other hand and held it firmly by his side. In the depths of his long and narrow eyes, there was an extremely gentle and earnest expression. “Honey, I don’t love anyone else apart from you!”
In the closed and confined space, the airflow was slow, and the man’s deep and charming voice lingered in Dorothy’s ears for a long time. She couldn’t forget about it for a very long time.
There were no enchanting flowers or romantic candlelight dinners. However, Dorothy would remember this moment in the elevator for many years to come. She would remember how the man she loved the most, told her that he would only love her for the rest of his life in a narrow and confined elevator.
If she didn’t understand his heart back then, then, at this moment, where the two of them were the only ones in here, with her looking at the love and gentleness in his eyes while she heard her own excited heartbeat, she finally understood him. It felt like a hundred flowers had bloomed all at once in front of her, and she was intoxicated by the dazzling light.
She felt that every despair and pain she had suffered in the past had completely dissipated.
However, it was difficult to guess what a woman was thinking.
A second ago, Dorothy felt that it wouldn’t be difficult to forgive him, that she was able to forget about their past. Then, in the next second, she changed her mind again. She felt that even if she forgave him, she shouldn’t tell him so soon.

She only mentioned their daughter. “Back in the examination room, the doctor gave Belle a full-body examination. He said that her physical condition wasn’t that bad. As long as she doesn’t catch a fever or a cold in the next few days, the surgery can be arranged in three days’ time.”
It was a Monday, which meant that Thursday would be the day of the operation.
This meant that the illness which had tormented Belle for the past six years would finally be gone.
Dorothy could not help but smile. Finally, finally, she was finally about to let go of the huge and heavy burden that had been hanging in her heart. She felt so happy, she wanted to explode.
Seeing how happy she was and how she was smiling like a little girl, Credence couldn’t help but laugh. He smiled and gave her even better news. “Honey, once our daughter is healthy again, I’ll allow you two months of rest at most. After that, we will hold a wedding ceremony again. I will make up for everything I’ve owed you in the past!”
As a man, no words were sweeter to a woman than giving her a spectacular wedding to express his love for her.
Dorothy widened her eyes wide in shock, tears welled up in the corners of her eyes. They flowed down quietly, filled with excitement. Her tears and feelings were boiling hot, and they burned her cheeks and heart.
She looked at him with tears streaming down her face. Her pink and soft lips were trembling, and she couldn’t say a single word.

For the next three days, Dorothy felt like she was in a dream. She felt as if she was in a wonderful dream, a dream which she never wanted to wake up from.
Belle brushed her teeth and smiled. Dorothy helped her finish her food and read some stories to Belle, they laughed and smiled wherever they went. In the end, after Belle had fallen asleep, Germaine pulled down her long curly hair. She really couldn’t bear it anymore. As a single woman, she had a lot of grievances in her heart. “F*ck, Dory, can you stop smiling so foolishly? We had once made a promise that we would never look back. Do you know how unscrupulous you’ve been these days? I have the urge to beat people up.”
Dorothy was in a good mood, so she didn’t pay attention to her teasing. She went to the bedside, took out a few pieces of paper from under a pillow, and handed it over to her leisurely. “Keep this well, this is for you.”
“If you want me to keep quiet, you should at least give me a mansion, a sports car, and a credit card. What the hell is this?”

Thousands of crazy thoughts ran about in her mind.
“I don’t know much about science, however, I do know that this was your first time. Jeremy must know about it as well. What do you plan to do with him in the future? Will you two treat each other indifferently or let go of the past to pursue the future together?”
“Don’t mention that b*stard!”
Germaine’s heart seemed to have been stabbed by a knife. Just a while ago, she was scared out of her wits, but she immediately came back to her senses. She gnashed her teeth and said, “We only had a one-night stand with each other. After we put on our pants, I don’t acknowledge him anymore.”
Dorothy couldn’t listen any longer, she didn’t want to push her too hard. She frowned and said, “Germaine, there is no reasoning with love. If you can’t forget him, don’t be stubborn. Try to accept his good side and his bad side, perhaps your life won’t be as bad as you think.”
“I love him, but he only takes me as a mistress. What can I do? I’m so desperate.”
Germaine sighed, it was a long sigh. After that, she stood up and staggered out, leaving Dorothy sad and depressed.

At 9:30 in the morning, Belle’s surgery began on time.
Every moment was crucial, Dorothy was concerned if the heart-wrenching surgery would succeed in one go. She didn’t have any more energy to worry about Germaine, so she could only let Juelz handle her and hoped he would help her avoid making stupid mistakes.
Under Credence’s powerful insistence, everyone on the second floor, which was where the operating room was, was evacuated, leaving only the professional doctors, Dorothy, and their friends and families.
Yezoo and Ysabelle came as well. They waited quietly on both sides of the corridor.
Dorothy and Credence had changed into disinfected suits with gloves. They were fully protected as they pushed Belle into the operating room.
