Chapter 481 Do You Feel Guilty?

Juelz was caught off guard by Dorothy’s question. He lowered his head to look at her, only to find that her long hair had covered most of her face.
After a while, he spoke in a hoarse but calm voice, “Dory, did Rosalie tell you all those things just now?”
“Yes, she told me everything.”
She was keenly aware of Juelz’s silence and realized that he must have known as well.
She painfully closed her eyes and hid the bitterness in her eyes. After that, she slowly opened them again and stared at the white tiles at her feet. After a long while, she said softly, “Juelz, Jeremy, and Credence are half-brothers from the same father. Ysabelle is also the mistress who had interfered with Credence’s parent’s marriage. You knew, didn’t you? When did you find out about it? Why didn’t you tell me earlier?”
If she had known about it earlier, she wouldn’t have broken up with Credence. She might even hesitate on deciding if she should continue her relationship with him.
Her own mother had harmed Credence’s parents, she indirectly caused him to lose his mother, the one person who truly loved him when he was young.
And her brother, Jeremy, had been going against Credence all these years. He had concocted several plots and attempts, all to kill Credence.
Between her and Credence was an entire generation of complicated relationships filled with love, hate, and grief. Dorothy couldn’t tell whether Credence owed her more or if she owed Credence more.
Juelz’s heart skipped a beat. He reached out and lightly touched Dorothy’s weak shoulder. He looked dazed and worried. “What good will it do if I told you? I’d just be piling on more worries on you. Besides, Credence hadn’t told you yet, I don’t want to be the bad guy here. Credence must have thought the same.”
“We’re both men, and you, you are the person that we want to protect. So, we’d refrain from doing things or meeting with people that would hurt you. We’d do this so that you can live happily and feel at ease.”
The more he spoke, the softer he became. By the end of his sentence, he was whispering.
It was at this moment that he finally understood why Dorothy loved Credence so deeply.
Because he made Dorothy the most important person in his life. He placed her above everything else. Everything he did, he did it for her, he would think about her before doing anything, all for her happiness and her safety.
Credence would carry all the heavy burdens and embarrassments on himself, he would slowly deal with everything.
Credence was a man who was willing to sacrifice his life for Dorothy!
After listening to Juelz, Dorothy relaxed. She breathed a sigh of relief and turned around. She dragged her entire body forward like a clumsy penguin.
Juelz was right behind her, and his heart started beating faster when he saw her moving away. He shouted, “Dory, where are you going?”
“I’m going to the emergency room. I’m going to wait for Credence.”
Dorothy turned around and gave him a gentle smile. “Juelz, thank you. I finally understand now, about some things that I didn’t before.”
So long as Credence loved her, no matter how much of a tough spot he was in, it wouldn’t matter to her.
If there was love in their hearts, then there was nothing for them to be afraid of.

Dorothy walked out of the elevator and bumped into Yezoo and Ysabelle.
Yezoo couldn’t find her in the ward, so he asked Ysabelle to push him to the emergency room to check on Credence. At that moment, he saw Dorothy and was relieved to see that she was alright. He said with a smile, “Dorothy, I’ve been looking for you. I was so worried. How are you? You’ve just recovered, you shouldn’t be running around. Your health is of the utmost importance, you have to take care of the child in your womb.”
Dorothy nearly burst into tears seeing how sincerely this old man cared for her.
She raised her hand and gently pressed her temples. Then, she slowly walked towards Yezoo and affectionately called him “Dad”. She lowered her head and smiled softly at him. “I’m fine. The doctor told me that I just need to rest for a few more days.”
“Oh, oh, Dorothy, you’re finally willing to call me Dad. I’m so happy, I’m so very happy.” Yezoo’s heart was beating wildly, as though he had been running for hours, but he was elated.
His daughter had come back to life. She even forgave his clumsiness and was willing to acknowledge him as her father. He was overjoyed.
He was so happy that he could die a happy man now. He didn’t have any regrets in his heart.
Ysabelle chuckled, “Yezoo, your daughter just called you ‘Dad’. It’s time for her to call me ‘Mom’ too.”
Perhaps it was because she felt guilty, or maybe she just couldn’t get along with her daughter. Ysabelle wasn’t happy to see her daughter.
However, for her plan to succeed, she needed to make use of Dorothy. She had no choice but to force out a kindly smile as she looked at her.
Dorothy glanced at Ysabelle and smiled mockingly. She stared at her fake face and told Yezoo, “Dad, you should head to the emergency room and wait for me there. I need to ask her about something.”
This woman was the mistress that Credence’s father kept and she had indirectly killed Credence’s mother. Yet, she was still living well and even married Yezoo. She must have kept all her dirty secrets from Yezoo.
With how reputable the Sherman family is in Talco City, and with Gordan’s bottom line, Yezoo could, at most, take on a wife or even adopt a new family member. He could never accept a mistress who was also a murderer into his family.
“Okay, you two have a good talk. I’ll go and see how Credence is doing.”
Yezoo patted Dorothy’s hand with a smile and turned towards Ysabelle, also holding the same gentle smile. He then happily rolled off in his wheelchair.
Dorothy watched quietly from the side. She was keenly aware that Yezoo loved Ysabelle and was very sincere with his feelings for her.
As a husband, he really loved his wife.
If he found out that his beloved wife was an evil woman who looked prosperous on the outside but secretly tore other people’s marriages apart, he might not be able to stomach the pain.
After all, no man could accept a woman with such a terrible past.
Dorothy sighed quietly as she saw him leave.
Since he was her biological father and loved her very much, there was no need for her to make things difficult for him.
As soon as he left, Ysabelle went back to being indifferent. Her face was tense, but there was a hint of forced kindness on it. She whispered, “Dorothy, what do you want to talk about?”
“I wanted to ask you about your relationship with Credence’s father, why you meddled with their marriage, and why you secretly conceived a baby then used the baby to push Credence’s mother away.”
Dorothy walked closer and stood in front of her. Her stare was cold and indifferent. “You are my birth mother. Whenever you see Credence, as the person who murdered his own birth mother, doesn’t your conscience hurt?”
“Shut up!” Ysabelle was angry. She raised her hand and violently slapped Dorothy across the face. “Is this how you behave in front of me? How terribly rude of you. I am still your mother. You dare to talk to me this way?”
She slapped very hard, much more than she had expected to.
Dorothy was caught off guard and took the slap in its entirety. She stumbled back before she felt the stinging pain on her face!
