It seemed like there was no end to the hillside.
Dorothy curled herself up as best as she could. She used both her hands and legs, as well as her head, to protect her belly with all her might as she continued to tumble down.
The grass rustled as she rolled by, and from time to time, sharp corners of rocks would scrape on her face, chin, and her skin. She could feel tiny cuts all over her body.
The small wounds didn’t hurt that bad, but there were so many wounds of all sizes on her that she was in immense pain. She frowned and hiss as she endured the pain.
Her vision was blurry as she rolled down. She could barely make out what was around her as she tumbled into the dark.
Apart from the whistling wind, she could faintly hear Credence’s hoarse shouting. He continued calling out to her. HIs toned sounded worried but also was comfortingly familiar to her.
“Honey, look out! It’s dangerous!”
Dangerous?
What danger? Where was it coming from?
She couldn’t even stand up. Apart from rolling down helplessly, how else was she supposed to avoid it?
Just as Dorothy was thinking about it, she heard a sound coming from above her head. Before she could react, Melanie appeared in front of her. She was holding a snow-white dagger in her hand, and nearly stabbed her head…
“Weak little b*tch, go to hell! Once you’ve died, Credence will finally change his mind and fall in love with me!”
Through the faint moonlight, Dorothy saw the sharp dagger, as well as the cruel sneer on Melanie’s face. She finally understood what Credence was shouting about. If Melanie really did pierce her skull, both her and her baby wouldn’t survive past sunrise.
When a person is on the verge of death, a miraculous and explosive power would erupt from within them.
In order to protect her and her baby, she would be an exception.
She gritted her teeth and endured the pain from her entire body, as she whined, turned around, and ran forward. She instinctively waved her hands in the air to avoid Melanie’s deadly weapons.
Luckily, when Dorothy waved her left hand forward, she knocked away the dagger in Melanie’s hands.
The dagger fell onto the grass, like a drop of water falling into the ocean. All at once, it disappeared without a trace.
Luckily, she avoided Melanie’s murderous attack. Dorothy didn’t even have time to think about how lucky she was. She hid in a pile of grass, her hands were protecting her faintly aching belly. Her entire body was sweating, and it drenched her blue dress.
The child in her womb must have felt uncomfortable from the pain just now, so it started to make a fuss inside her once more.
She did not know whether the child was using its hands or legs, but it kicked Dorothy hard from the inside, and she cried out of pain. Her forehead was covered in sweat that slowly dripped down her face.
“Hiss! Ouch! Ouch!”
It hurt, it really hurt. It hurt so badly that she wished she was dead!
Dorothy couldn’t even roll away as quickly as she did earlier. She had used up all her strength, she didn’t even have the strength to lift up her hands.
“You weak little b*tch, how dare you even think about running away!”
Her dagger had fallen to the ground. Melanie used her feet to search around, but she couldn’t find it. She simply stopped looking. Within two quick steps, she reached Dorothy. She swiftly grabbed Dorothy’s neck. Like an eagle holding onto a chicken in its claws, she easily lifted Dorothy’s entire body with one hand. She was suspended in the air, as Melanie sneered. “Why are you crying? Are you pretending to look miserable? I hate disgusting, weak, and pretentious women like you the most. All you do is act silly, sweet, and weak in front of Credence. B*tch, you deserve to die.”
She choked, “Cough cough…”
Dorothy’s legs were suspended in the air, and Melanie was clenching her neck. She couldn’t breathe, she felt dizzy. She had never been so close to death in her life before.
At that moment, she could feel Melanie’s murderous intent. She immediately used her hands to scratch Melanie’s hands which were around her neck.
Even if she couldn’t move or break her grasp, she wouldn’t give up. She would not let Melanie choke and suffocate her to death.
She didn’t know what Credence was doing. She didn’t know why he wasn’t here yet. However, she needed to save herself before he arrived. She needed to stall for as long as she could.
Only by infuriating Melanie could she make her extremely angry and cause a commotion. That was her only chance of escape.
Dorothy stayed calm and laughed. She took a deep breath and hissed with a sneer. “You’re such a vicious woman. Cough… Even if I die, Credence… Credence won’t love you, ever!”
Sure enough, that was the last thing that Melanie wanted to hear. That Credence would never fall in love with her. She was so angry that she gripped her neck tighter. “You look so weak. I didn’t expect you to have such a sharp tongue! If you want to die now, just tell me, b*tch, I’ll grant you your wish!”
Dorothy immediately felt a suffocating pain from her neck, and she couldn’t breathe anymore. However, her face was calm as still water. “If you wanted to kill me, you would have done so a long time ago. You didn’t have to wait until now. My guess is that you still want to use my life to negotiate with him.”
Melanie’s conditions were simple. She wanted nothing more than to force Credence to sleep with her and only love her for the rest of her life. She wanted to be with him until the end of time.
Dorothy couldn’t help but shake her head and laugh.
In this world, no matter how extraordinary a woman was, once she’s fallen in love with someone, she would behave just like an ordinary woman. She would cry and fight for that man. She would do all kinds of stupid things and even risk her life and stain her hands with blood. The woman would be stubborn and crazy.
“That’s right, I want to use your life as a bargaining chip against Credence. To tell you the truth, if it weren’t for the fact that he still cares about a weak b*tch like you, I would have killed you a long time ago.”
Melanie sneered coldly. Her hard and demonic face had long been soaked in blood, making her look even more terrifying. From the corners of her eyes, she saw Credence, hobbling towards them on his injured leg. He was holding a pistol that he had picked up in his hand. He aimed the gun at her without hesitating. All of a sudden, he felt a heart-wrenching pain.
Credence was standing two steps away and looked at Melanie with his cold eyes. “Let Dorothy go!”
“Credence, would I let her go just because you asked? What about my dignity?!”
Melanie laughed grimly. She turned her eyes towards his right leg, and her pupils shrank a little.
He reached Dorothy much later than her because one of the tendons in his legs had almost been cut off by her.
If he forced himself to reach her sooner, his right leg would have been crippled.
And she had paid a heavy price as well
Her abdomen was almost shattered by his fists. Melanie had completely lost the ability to be a mother.
This heartless man didn’t care about her at all. He only wanted her life.
Therefore, she wouldn’t let him go, let alone the weak b*tch in her hand.
Out of the three people left, she would be the only one to leave alive!
As a top assassin, Melanie had trained bitterly, and her five senses were very sharp. She caught the familiar smell of a nearby river in the damp air.
Seeing the pitch-black muzzle in Credence’s hand aimed between her eyebrows once more, Melanie quietly took two steps back until she reached the edge of the chill. If she took another step, she wouldn’t be on solid ground anymore. Instead, she would fall. She squinted at the man not far away from her and said, “Credence, it would be wise not to force me. You should know, once I go crazy, even I would be afraid of myself! What do I have to be afraid of? At worst, we’ll just die together! What about you? You have power, status, a wife, and children. Will you be willing to accompany me to death?”
Seeing Dorothy’s neck still being held firm in Melanie’s hand, his breathing became fast and panicked. He didn’t have time to react when he arrived on the scene. Credence looked like he was on the verge of death. He looked up and stared at Melanie’s bloody face. He asked coldly, “What the hell do you want? Tell me your conditions!”
