Dorothy stood quietly behind Credence. Her heart skipped a beat when she smelled the pungent smell of blood all over his body. She couldn’t help but reach out and touch his straight back.
As soon as her fingers touched his thin black shirt on his back, she felt a moist and sticky feeling. It made her heart skip a beat.
She quickly pulled her hand back and carefully looked at it.
The bulletproof car had probably run out of gasoline and the battery was dying. The headlights of the car weren’t as bright as before, it was dim.
Under the dim yellow lights, Dorothy could clearly see that her fingertips were dotted with red bloodstains. She felt a deep pain in her heart.
He was injured, and there were quite a few wounds on him. His entire shirt was completely drenched in blood and sweat.
But, he was wearing a black shirt, so he blended in with the dark night. No matter how much blood flowed out from his body, she couldn’t see it very clearly.
If she wasn’t standing behind him at that moment, she would never have realized that he was covered in blood. Yet he was still desperately trying to protect her and her child against Melanie and her fierce army of men.
She was too weak, she couldn’t do anything apart from hiding behind him and letting him protect her with all his strength.
Dorothy sighed, and she closed her eyes. She curled up her body to protect her belly. She was between a giant rock and Credence’s back. She stared at the towering and seemingly omnipotent man in front of her with tears in her eyes.
“Credence, you’re protecting me like this is because you love me, right?”
She was afraid that these words would distract him, so she dared not say them out loud. She silently murmured it in her heart over and over again.
As long as this man was by her side, as long as he loved her and cared about her, she had nothing to fear, not even if bullets kept whizzing past her.
After an unknown amount of time, when Dorothy opened her eyes again, she suddenly realized that Credence’s body was covered in wounds, even his face was covered in blood. He had fallen to his knees less than half a meter in front of her. Melanie had lost a lot of people, there were originally fifteen of them left, and then it was down to seven, then four, then two. In the end, there was only Zayn and Melanie left.
Zayn had lost an eye and was lying on the floor three meters away from them as he spat blood out. His pupils were bloodshot red and bursting with an endless amount of hatred. He pulled out his last gun from his pocket.
Credence had already run out of bullets, so he simply chucked aside the useless machine gun, walked over to Zayn, bent down, clenched his fists, and punched his face.
Zayn was badly beaten up by this horrifying man. At that moment, he didn’t even have the strength to get up to fight. He lay on the ground like a corpse, allowing Credence’s iron fists to smash his face in.
Not long after, Zayn took his last breath. With that, the last light of life left his eyes.
Credence stood up. He turned around and glared at Melanie, who was sneering with a gun in her hand.
She squinted, and laughed menacingly, as she stared at Credence’s handsome face. “So what if you’ve killed them all? Your skills are better than any agent. I won’t deny that, but no matter how fast you are, you can’t be faster than a bullet. Every gun around you is empty, and the only gun with bullets is in my hand. I have six bullets. Tonight, I’d like to see whether you are faster than my bullets!”
Melanie clenched the pistol in her hand, aimed it at Credence’s vitals, and mercilessly fired her gun.
Credence had been waiting. He dodged left and right, and was able to dodge the first five bullets, but failed to avoid the last one. He was shot directly two inches above his abdomen, and his chest immediately erupted into a mess of blood.
The intense pain he felt made his entire body tremble several times, but it wasn’t enough to stop him from marching towards Melanie.
He noticed that Melanie had finished all her bullets, he sneered and jumped towards Melanie in two huge strides. He raised his fist and went for her neck.
Melanie immediately threw her pistol away to dodge his fatal blow. She adopted an attacking stance and jumped over him. She raised her right leg and aimed it fiercely at his bloody chest.
With a fierce look in her eyes, “Tonight, only one of us gets to live!”
She threw aside her affections for Credence. Melanie was more vicious than a wolf. She attacked Credence like a vicious snake. She wanted to take his life away. After that, she would kill that weak woman, Dorothy.
She hated him as much as she loved him back then!
After several rounds of fighting, Melanie firmly gained the upper hand, as she trapped him on a rock that was less than half a meter away from Dorothy. She reached out to grab her hidden blade that was tied to her boots.
This was her final weapon.
She was waiting to use this blade to slice the major artery on Credence’s neck. After that, she would watch him bleed and die in front of her.
No, that alone wasn’t enough.
She wanted to drag Dorothy over, she wanted him to watch as she cruelly tortured Dorothy to death.
Melanie laughed maniacally. She held the blade tightly in her hand and slashed it towards Credence’s neck with blinding speed.
Dorothy, who had been neglected by Melanie this whole time, suddenly appeared from behind her. She hit the back of her head with a gun.
“Ah… b*tch, you dare to assault me from behind?!”
Melanie cried out in pain. She suddenly turned around, stretched out her arms, grabbed Dorothy’s long black hair, and pulled hard.
Dorothy was in so much pain that she hissed. She knew all too well that if she was yanked over by Melanie and fell into her hands, she was dead.
She gnashed her teeth and made up her mind, she didn’t just let Melanie pull her away. Instead, she used all her strength to bend her body, as she tried her best to pull it forward.
She didn’t care about her hair being pulled down. She tried her best to escape from Melanie.
“Ah!”
At the end of their struggles, Melanie had torn off some of Dorothy’s hair. It hurt so badly her head stung like fire from the pain.
Her entire body fell to the ground, and she rolled down a hillside.
