Melanie and Zayn were standing beside each other. Behind them, the remaining thirteen men they had, rushed out to confront Credence.
Melanie and Credence exchanged looks. Her eyes were sharp, but she had a faint, sexy smile on her face. “Credence, you’re alone, and there are fifteen of us, how much of a chance do you think you have?”
Credence’s face sank. He was still as quiet as ever, his face was blank, and he showed no signs of giving up.
He stared back at Melanie. The light at the bottom of his eyes was like the endless night, unchanging. He said in a cold voice, “If I don’t die, then all of you will.”
Credence’s words were powerful and unyielding. He gripped his gun tighter.
He only had three bullets left. It wasn’t enough to deal with all of them.
He needed to think of a way to take a gun from one of them.
Credence’s footsteps were so light that no one noticed him at all.
At the same time, Zayn sneered, “F*ck, what arrogance. You don’t think I can kill you right here, right now?”
“What’s the rush? You want to kill him with just one shot? Where’s the fun in that?”
Melanie impatiently glanced at Zayn, and a trace of frigid viciousness flashed in her eyes. “Credence, although you have been ruthless towards me, I have been nothing but sincere to you! As long as you are willing to shoot Dorothy with your own hands, I will forgive you for everything you’ve done to me. I will give you another chance to love me. Otherwise, don’t blame me for what I will do next. I will kill you and your woman, and then throw your bodies to the wolves and let you die as a broken corpse.”
“Credence, you know me. I always keep to my word!”
Upon hearing this, Credence’s long and narrow eyes seemed to have turned ice cold. He glared at Melanie and tightened his grip. He stared back at her, his face was blank. “Love you? I’d never do that!”
Melanie shouted, “Shut up!”
Melanie was furious at his unreasonable attitude. She took a few steps towards him. She was standing less than two meters away from him when she stared at his charmingly handsome face. Her cold eyes darkened with every step. “Credence, would you really waste your life protecting a woman who can’t even fight back? Is it worth it? Is it?”
At this moment, in Melanie’s eyes, there was no going back now for Credence, so she acted aloof and smiled smugly. She even threw the gun in her hand towards Zayn. She stood a few steps away from Credence, crossed her arms over her chest, and smiled enchantingly at him.
“In truth, from the very beginning, I only joined the army because it was a task my superiors gave me. I never thought about getting into a relationship at all. But I happened to meet you and fell in love with you!”
“I am actually an assassin and a special agent. I serve a drug lord in Jenciga, whom I’ve helped acquire insider information. I have always been secretive in everything I do, constantly providing my boss with more information. But I have never exposed my identity.”
“Soon after, I was bored, so I made a deal with my boss. I told him that after I finished a big mission for him, I would leave this industry for good and move on. He agreed, under one condition, and that was to kill you with my bare hands!”
“That is why I shot you several times, forcing you to fall off the cliff. I didn’t know whether you were dead or alive. But in truth, I have already looked through the cliff. It seemed steep, but there is a flat river below. With your skills, falling into the river is nothing at all. You wouldn’t die from that.”
“I knew that Marvin would find you sooner or later, so I didn’t confirm your death and went back to finish up my mission. I planned to get away and change my identity to find you so that I could finally be with you. Who knew that you were forced to quit the anti-drug team because of that stupid mistake and got sent back to Talco City, where you took over the Scott Group.”
“I know you hated me, so I followed you and went to Talco City. I spent so much effort traveling to Talco City which was thousands of miles away. I was so eager to tell you everything, but I was so unlucky to get into a plane crash… Everyone in the plane, all 125 people died, and only I survived.”
“I was seriously injured, and my face was burned and disfigured. Apart from some slight movements with my head, my entire body was paralyzed. Credence, you were in pain. You hated me for betraying you. But wasn’t I also in pain? I betrayed you and hurt you, but I also took your life into consideration. I deliberately chose that cliff to keep you safe.”
“But what about me? I’ve been lying in the hospital for ten whole years! During those ten years, my body felt like it was being burned and tortured by a raging hellfire. I was in so much pain, I wanted to die, but I couldn’t. I relied on my love for you and recalled our past over and over again. Those memories made me cry and laugh, thus I could only grit my teeth and try to live through it.”
“When I had finally recovered, I wanted to find you and confess everything to you. You are the only man I have ever loved. You are the only one, and I only want to be with you! But, you, you found Dorothy, that weak b*tch. Not only did you marry her, you even had a child with her. Now, she’s pregnant with another child of yours. It shouldn’t be like this. I won’t accept it. I won’t!”
“You belong to me, Credence! I am the only woman who has the right to be by your side. I am the only woman who has the right to be with you! Only I have the right to love you!”
Melanie’s face was wrought with overwhelming jealousy and pain
She stared at him who was only a few steps away, her eyes filled with madness and resentment. She sneered. “Credence, if I can’t have you, then neither will Dorothy! I would rather destroy you and scatter your ashes into rivers and lakes than let another woman take you from me! Now, it’s time for you to make a choice.”
“Me or Dorothy? Credence, who will you choose?” Melanie raised her chin to smile, her eyes looked crazed.
“Don’t you think that’s a stupid question? You already have the answer ten years ago. I will choose Dorothy and only Dorothy for the rest of my life!”
A sharp stream of light could be seen in the depth of Credence’s eyes. Seeing Melanie’s hatred surging from his words, Credence heaved a sigh of relief. He was ready to launch a sneak attack against her. Suddenly, in the corner of his eye, he saw the familiar bulletproof car whizzing along like a bullet that was shot out of a gun. It rushed towards Melanie and Zayn.
Credence looked around and saw the huge car behind Melanie. A sharp pain suddenly flashed past his eyes. “Honey, stop! Stop! It’s too dangerous!”
