“Marvin and Jonathan are ready. They’re waiting for us.” Credence gently supported Dorothy as they walked into the hall of the hospital. He briefly told her about Lily’s parents, and also mentioned their unreasonable requests.
Dorothy looked away calmly and took a deep breath. “We are all parents. I can understand how they feel. After all, Lily is their only daughter. If we can help them with their requests, then we should.”
Credence held her small hands tightly and nodded. He only said one word, “Okay.”
Apart from the obvious things, he still chose to conceal their secret plan from her. He didn’t reveal everything to Dorothy for the time being.
It was about Melanie, she was like a ticking time bomb that had been set up beside them. At some point, the bomb would ignite and explode with a loud bang, and the two of them would be blown to bits.
Therefore, he would take advantage of this trip to Kowloon City to lure her out. Then, he would seize the opportunity to attack her with Marvin following closely behind. Just like that, Melanie would be killed in Kowloon City, and their troubles would finally be over.
There was no need for Jonathan to tag along with them.
He still had more important tasks to carry out. That was, he had to continue finding a bone marrow that was a match with Belle’s.
Everything was arranged, and everyone had their own tasks to accomplish. Their ultimate purpose was for Melanie.
When they arrived at the morgue, Credence stepped in first. Dorothy, who was pregnant, did not follow suite. Instead, she stood at the corridor three or four meters away, and waited for them to come out.
About ten minutes later, Credence and Marvin came out first, followed by Lily’s parents. The two of them seemed to be in their 30s, they were honest people, but they were sad. They held the coffin containing Lily’s body and walked slowly, wiping away their tears as they walked.
Seeing Lily’s parents, Dorothy immediately agreed with Credence’s guess that someone had to be behind this. That was why they had asked for them to accompany Lily back to her hometown even after receiving a huge compensation.
As for the mastermind behind it, Dorothy thought for a while before she frowned. She was somewhat certain about that person.
It must be Jeremy. Apart from him, there was no one else.
She remembered Credence telling her that Jeremy despised the entire Scott family. However, he hadn’t told her the reason yet. He only promised her that he would tell her everything after the matter had come to an end.
However, just what kind of incident could have happened? What was so terrible that it has caused him to want Credence dead so badly?
All of this was like layers of fog, it was greatly confusing. When Credence walked up to her with a smile, she was still frowning as she let her imagination run wild.
Credence stretched out his hand, took her small hand, and they slowly walked forward together. “What’s on your mind, what were you thinking about?”
“Nothing. My child just kicked me. It’s a little uncomfortable.”
Dorothy answered him casually. She lowered her eyebrows, and suddenly clasped her fingers together. She held on to his big hands and asked worriedly, “My heart is beating so fast, will anything bad happen?”
“Honey, nothing will happen as long as I am here.”
Credence’s tone was soft and calm, it was enough to soothe Dorothy’s uneasy heart.
Based on her understanding of him, if he wasn’t completely confident, he wouldn’t say such things with such certainty.
Moreover, with him by her side, she really felt secure.
In the past, when she raised her daughter alone in Monticello, she had Juelz and Germaine who accompanied her through various difficulties. Her heart was always elsewhere though, she was anxious, and wasn’t able to relax.
She also realized that it was only when she was with Credence that she could be fearless. She wouldn’t have to worry about money, she wouldn’t have to worry about taking public transport and missing her stop, nor did she have to worry about Melanie’s fatal assaults on her. In short, she had nothing to fear, so long as he was here.
It was probably because she completely trusted him, she entrusted her life to him.
Two hours later, they arrived at the airport.
In order to get to Kowloon City as soon as possible, Credence told Benjamin to reserve a small private jet, which was chartered to transport them and Lily’s coffin.
Just as they were about to board the plane, Dorothy suddenly heard people talking behind her.
“Hey, did you see today’s headlines? Yezoo of the Sherman Group reconciled with his daughter who had supposedly died 29 years ago! Who is Yezoo?”
“Even if you don’t know him, you should have heard about the North Ocean Garden, the forbidden area in Talco City! The Sherman family founded it… Humph, what the hell did they mean by reconciling with a daughter who died 29 years ago? If she was dead, then did she come back to life? These rich people live very different lives from ours. We really don’t know anything about this at all.”
Those people must have noticed some eyes were staring at them, as they suddenly stopped talking. When they realized that it was a beautiful woman, they were about to greet her. However, Dorothy looked away and stared at the news on her phone.
The light in her eyes was delicate and crystal clear like diamonds, but a sense of helplessness and depression could be seen within them.
Her life was really filled with twists and turns. She hoped she wouldn’t encounter anymore for the rest of her life.
She was still quite appreciative of Yezoo.
It wasn’t just because their facial features were somewhat similar. It was also because when that elegant man looked at her, his wise and old eyes would shine through with kindness.
When he looked at her, his face was filled with joy, and his expression was like that of a loving father to his beloved daughter.
As for Ysabelle, when she looked at her, it seemed like she was looking at a stranger. She didn’t show any signs of motherly love at all. She only knew how to force a fake smile, which looked horrible and awkward.
She didn’t look like a kind woman, yet she was actually her biological mother. It was really hard to accept.
Dorothy sighed. She felt depressed, turned off her phone, and was ready to board the plane. At that moment, she heard a kind and ecstatic voice behind her. “Dorothy, the results of the paternity test are out. You are my daughter. You really are my daughter. That’s great, I am so, so happy.”
Upon hearing this, Dorothy’s body trembled. She slowly turned her gaze towards Credence, who was beside her, and asked softly, “Did you bring him here?”
“No!” Credence shook his head. “Mr. Sherman must have gone to the hospital to see you, but no one was there. He must have asked Juelz and Germaine and got the information from them.”
Hearing this, Dorothy felt helpless. She slowly turned around and looked at Yezoo and the person behind him, who was getting closer and closer. They were silent and did not say anything.
