An hour later, Credence arrived at the city hospital. He rushed to the lobby as fast as he could right after he jumped out of the car.
It was almost one o’clock in the morning. There weren’t a lot of people moving about in the hospital. Only the rustling of the wind outside could be heard.
Credence entered the building with a blank look on his face. He walked towards the elevator and waited for it to come down from the twelfth floor. He frowned. Just as he was about to take out his phone to call Jonathan, Jonathan stepped out of a different elevator with his phone in hand.
The two of them bumped into each other.
Jonathan couldn’t dodge in time and was knocked onto the cold floor. Just as he was about to fly into a rage, he noticed that it was Credence. The anger on his face immediately changed into a joyful grin. “What the f*ck! Credence, right on time! Oh, by the way, the little girl’s name is Lily. I hid her well in the lounge of my office. I’m certain that Melanie won’t be able to find her!”
“Then, why are you here?!” Credence yelled out while looking sullen. He raised his hand to signal him to get up from the floor and to get into the elevator.
Why was he so openly talking about their plans? Was he afraid that Melanie would be able to hear them?
Jonathan’s eardrums almost burst from Credence’s sudden shout. His head was buzzing from and he flustered about for a bit before he managed to pick himself up. He then said, “Oh f*ck, Credence, weren’t you the one who called a nurse to tell me to come down? When I heard that it was you, I got so anxious, I immediately stumbled down to find you.”
Now that he thought about it, he felt that something was off.
It was in the middle of the night, how did the nurse know that Jonathan was in his office? She even said that Credence was waiting for him at the front door.
All at once, Jonathan came back to his senses. He was so angry that he cursed, “F*ck! Melanie tricked me! Credence, hurry up, we need to get to my office to save Lily.”
Credence frowned grimly. As soon as he stepped out of the elevator on the top floor, he heard a scream coming from the office. It was a scream that sounded like a little girl.
He slowly shook his head and closed his eyes. When he opened them again, they had turned bloodshot red. “It’s too late.”
Jonathan’s hearing wasn’t as good as Credence’s. He asked, “What do you mean it’s too late? F*ck, Credence, Lily is still waiting for you to save her. Can’t you move faster?”
Credence didn’t bother to explain, but he continued forward at a faster pace.
However, he knew that the innocent little girl, Lily, was already dead.
“Jonathan, Melanie has most likely killed Lily already. Call Marvin right now. Tell him to send in his special forces as soon as possible. They must be absolutely loyal to us, so as not to leak any information. Besides that, make sure they’re fully armed. We’re going to need a lot of firepower.”
Credence looked up at the muttering Jonathan and said coldly, “I know how Melanie thinks. If she is seriously set on taking revenge, this will be as difficult as a drug raid. She will not stop until everyone has been killed!”
“F*ck, this woman is absolutely crazy. She is even more cold-blooded than a cobra.”
Jonathan’s eyelids twitched. “Okay, okay, I’ll call Marvin right away, I’ll ask him to make preparations.”
After that, the two of them remained silent and walked into the office one after the other. The faint smell of blood lingered in the air. Jonathan’s body trembled violently. He felt a cold murderous feeling enveloping his entire body, and his scalp went numb. “Ahem, Credence, that woman… Is she still here?”
If not, why was he feeling like he was covered in snow? He shivered with every step he took!
Suddenly, Jonathan was kicked heavily in his chest and abdomen, knocking the air out of his lungs. Then, he was flung out of the office and collided with the corridor wall. He was in so much pain that he gasped. “What the f*ck, Credence, can’t you give me a warning before you kick me, it hurts!”
Credence ignored Jonathan. Instead, he jumped up and kicked the door shut with a loud bang. The door was then locked.
At that moment, he keenly noticed Melanie’s mysterious and sinister aura.
She was in Jonathan’s lounge, her hands were stained with blood. Innocent little Lily’s blood. She was waiting for him to approach her and to settle things once and for all. She had nothing to fear.
Credence smiled coldly and heartlessly. “I know you’re in here. Show yourself!”
“Credence, you want me to show myself? Okay, but I’ll kill her first.”
Melanie’s cold laughter could be heard through the thick wooden door and into his ears.
He had no idea what Melanie had done, but he could hear the little girl’s screams. She sounded like a wounded animal on its last legs.
His body tensed up. He squinted his long and narrow eyes, steeled himself, and said, “Melanie, come at me. Do you think it’s fun to torment an eight-year-old girl?”
“Of course it is!” Melanie sneered and said, “Credence, if she dies, your baby daughter won’t have long to live. Once she’s dead, then you’ll wish you were dead too, isn’t that fun?”
“My daughter will live through this, but you, you die tonight.”
Credence walked towards the lounge and reached out his hand to grab the doorknob. As soon as he opened the elaborately carved wooden door, his arm was snagged by a slender and callused-looking hand.
He tensed up and pushed his way into the room. Suddenly, he was pushed back towards the door by Melanie.
The door behind him was closed and Melanie was standing in front of him, staring sinisterly at him.
Her hand swept over his pants, it made its way towards his groin, then a chilling spark flashed across her eyes. Her warm breath landed on his forehead as she smiled. “Credence, we meet again! I was sent to prison by your friend, sentenced to death, but I survived. I rushed all the way from prison to Talco City just to talk to you about our good old days. I’m sure you didn’t expect that to happen.”
“All I know is that you will die tonight.”
Credence was motionless for a moment. Then in a blink of an eye, he made a vicious move that aimed at Melanie’s face, he punched her hard.
Melanie stumbled back, pushed her elbow on the wall beside her, and turned around to avoid Credence’s follow-up. She jumped a meter away, raised his head and stared at him. There was anger in her eyes, the kind that looked like it would leap out and explode at any moment.
But soon, her anger dissipated, and she laughed coyishly. “Credence, you started a fight the very moment we met. Is this what I think it is? You only fight with people you care about, which means you do care about me. You want to make love with me, don’t you? Unfortunately, we don’t have any condoms, how about next time?”
“Melanie, you are the worst type of woman I’ve ever met.” Credence said this clearly and with power.
Those words were lethal. They were like sharp daggers that stabbed deep into Melanie’s heart. Her heart was in so much pain, it bled.
She gritted her teeth hard, and the enchanting look on her face slowly turned malicious.
Melanie stretched out her hand from under the quilt, which was on the bed, and dragged Lily out. Lily’s face was covered in blood and fear. Melanie’s fingers were like strong hooks, they were firmly locked onto Lily’s delicate neck, and she laughed viciously. “Credence, stay with me, sleep with me, show me the strength of a real man, and I promise you that I won’t kill her tonight, what do you say?”
