Dorothy was taken aback.
The man’s joyful laughter filled her head. His cold breath lingered in her nose, she had no place to escape.
His laughter made her feel as though everything she had done was simply a joke. She felt angry and hurt.
They hadn’t found a suitable bone marrow donor for Belle yet, and time was running out. She was so worried that her hair was about to turn white, yet he still had the gall to laugh?
She felt as though her body was going to burst into flames. Dorothy was furious, she repeatedly twisted her body about, trying to break free from him, “Credence, let me go!”
“Never.”
Credence’s arm went around her shoulders and supported her gently. He wouldn’t hurt her or let her break free easily either. His other hand gently touched her bulging belly. He stared at her red eyes deeply and said, “Honey, will you finally accept me as your man? Does this mean that you still love me?”
“Credence, stop overthinking this. I don’t love anyone save for Belle and the child in my womb.”
“No, I’m not overthinking it.” He raised his eyebrows, and a bright light flashed in his eyes. “Honey, please say it again. Let me know there’s a place for me in your heart!”
Dorothy bit her lower lip and looked at him with tears in her eyes. “You do have a place in my heart, I’d never forgotten you. No matter how cruel you are to me or how badly you’ve hurt me, I will still love you. Are you satisfied now?”
“Do you need me to grovel and beg?”
She raised her trembling right hand and pushed his chest away. He was caught off guard and his whole body swayed as he tried to find his balance. He almost fell off the bed.
Thanks to his quick reaction, he immediately used one of his arms to hold the edge of the bed so that he wouldn’t fall.
But this time, Dorothy had pushed too hard and pulled a nerve in her abdomen. Her face turned pale and a single tear fell out from the corner of her eye.
Credence was dazed for a second, and Credence’s large hand that was on her shoulder slightly relaxed.
Dorothy took advantage of this and escaped from his grip, lifted the thin white quilt, and climbed down from the other side of the bed. She wanted to get away from him.
She had only taken a few steps before a swift wind breezed past her head and moved towards her. In the next second, Credence was holding her shoulders and hands. She was completely trapped and couldn’t move at all.
He made sure not to be rough with her as she was pregnant, but he was still quite strong. He wanted to ensure that Dorothy wouldn’t break free from him.
Dorothy’s face turned red with anger. Since she was pregnant she didn’t dare to struggle. She turned around and glared at him. “Credence, what the hell are you doing?”
“I’m not doing anything, I just want to talk to you.”
Credence carefully turned her around, gently lifted her up, parted her legs, and sat her down on his lap facing him.
His gesture was way too suggestive.
When she felt his warm breath on her sensitive neck, she lurched forward, as she wanted to get away from it.
Unexpectedly and completely by accident, she rubbed against his groin. The more she struggled, the more her bottom rubbed against him, she could feel something rising, and then stopped. She forced herself back, embarrassed. Her face was burning red hot, tears streaming down her eyes. More and more tears streamed down her face, and she couldn’t stop them.
Hearing her soft gasps, Credence bent over to look at her. His chin was less than an inch away from Dorothy’s face, he looked at her longingly.
He could see tears dripping down her face. She was sobbing silently
As she cried, she didn’t look sad or depressed, there were only tears.
He reached out his long, slender thumb and gently wiped her tears away. “Honey, stop crying! I’m sorry, that was my fault. I really didn’t want to force this on you, I just wanted to know if you still loved me. I’m sorry. I was too harsh with you in the past. I was too cruel, I was such a b*stard!”
“I’m not asking you to forget about those unhappy moments, nor do I expect you to forgive me. I only hope that you’ll give me a chance to make up for my mistakes and for things to go back to the way they were, alright?”
“I’ll give you a chance. As long as you find a suitable bone marrow donor for Belle and cure her. Do that and I’ll give you a second chance!”
Dorothy shrugged off his large hand and stared at him with her reddened eyes. Emphasizing each word she continued. “Otherwise, Credence, you’d better leave me alone. If anything bad really happens to Belle, I’ll never forgive you, ever!”
As she spoke, tears welled up in her eyes. The more she spoke, the more painful it got.
It felt like a long sharp needle had pierced her heart, and she couldn’t pull it out. It constantly pricked her, and her body started to tremble violently.
It really hurt!
He would never understand her pain.
Credence felt sad and uncomfortable seeing her in so much pain and crying so sadly. He gently massaged her stomach while trying to wipe away her tears. He said in an extremely gentle voice, “Honey, don’t cry! I’m here, I will always be here. Belle is our daughter, how could I just stand by and watch her die?”
Dorothy turned her head around, she tried her best to avoid his kiss.
After comforting her for a while, he still couldn’t stop Dorothy’s tears. He panicked and then blurted out, “I was in a hurry to tell Jonathan to find a donor for Belle, and I got into a car accident along the way…”
“What?”
Dorothy was so shocked that she was speechless. She turned her head around and stared into his dark eyes. She asked, “You got into a car accident as you tried to save Belle, why didn’t you tell me about this?”
“I didn’t want to tell you because I didn’t want you to worry. You’re very weak right now, and I didn’t want you to get distracted because of me.”
“I wouldn’t get sad just because you got injured.”
Dorothy was acting tough. She looked down at his legs which were heavily bandaged in plaster. She was shocked, as she reached her hands out to touch them, “How are your injuries? Does it still hurt?”
“No, it doesn’t hurt.”
Credence whispered into her ear. When she lowered her head and revealed half of her smooth neck, his heart was moved. He couldn’t help but move his waist forward and slowly rubbed against her voluptuous buttocks. “Baby, it misses you.”
Dorothy immediately moved away, as though she had been electrocuted. She roared angrily, “Is that all you can think about? Don’t you know how annoying you are?”
Credence was overjoyed by her shy expression and resentful eyes. His face beamed with a happy smile. “Don’t worry about it. I just wanted to prove to you that no other woman can do this to me.”
At that moment, the entire room was as quiet as a morgue. Apart from Dorothy’s own thumping heart, she could feel his heart pounding against her back under his black shirt.
Their movements, along with his familiar cold breath, had firmly held her in place with his strong grip.
She gently turned her body around, got off his lap, and slowly sat across from him. She looked up at his charming eyes and brows, and sighed in front of the bright light, “Credence, be frank with me, how confident are you in curing Belle’s illness?”
