Juelz’s heart was a chaotic mess of emotions as he saw Jonathan walk off. It felt as though his heart were viciously torn to pieces. The pain was so unbearable, he couldn’t sit still.
He pulled away from the quilt that was covering him, rolled out of bed, grabbed his car keys, and headed for the door.
He had only taken two steps before he was stopped by Germaine.
“Germaine, get out of my way. I am going to the Sherman family mansion to ask Yezoo for an explanation.” Juelz’s face was extremely pale, and his eyes looked blank.
Dorothy was very likely to be his cousin, this came as a huge shock to him.
“I don’t believe it! How can I believe it? The night hasn’t even ended, how could Dory suddenly be my cousin?”
“What’s even more outrageous is that Ysabelle, that shameless woman, is her biological mother!”
“She is the one person I revile the most in my life. She’s the f*cking b*tch that tore the Sherman family apart and left us in ruins!”
He was full of rage. “If that woman hadn’t taken Jeremy back to the Sherman family, my parents wouldn’t have died in that staged car accident. Grandpa wouldn’t have gotten so furious that caused him to have a stroke that paralyzed him, and the Sherman family property wouldn’t have fallen into Jeremy’s hands… But why, how could she be Dory’s actual mother? How?”
If he was going to exact his revenge on Ysabelle and Jeremy, he would still end up hurting Dory.
She didn’t know any of this. She was still sleeping on the bed in her ward.
After being together for so long, Juelz knew that in her heart, she had always longed to be in a loving family.
“Sh*t, Juelz, can you calm down? Don’t be so impulsive! Look at the time! It’s almost three in the morning… You plan to just rush over to the mansion and tell Yezoo that his daughter is back from the dead? Won’t that just shock him to death?”
Germaine grabbed Juelz’s right arm and gave him a deathly serious look. “Juelz, I know you can’t accept it, honestly, neither can I.”
“However, I’m very confident with Credence’s diligence and attentiveness to detail. It would be impossible for him to make such a huge mistake. So, it’s very likely to be true.”
“Since Dory has found her real parents, we should be happy for her!”
“Juelz, other people may not realize this, but you would, wouldn’t you? Dory has had a hard life. If you want her to be happy, then you have to let go of all that hatred you have kept inside.”
“All this hate has been engraved into my bones. I can’t just f*cking forget about it!”
Juelz cursed and glared at Germaine. “Germaine, let me ask you this. Can you forget about all the pain Jeremy has caused you? Are you able to forgive him?”
“I…” Germaine shook her head. “I will certainly try! I want to live in peace. I will let nature take its course.”
Juelz sneered. “See, you can’t ever forgive him. What makes you think that I will forget about the people who have harmed me?”
“Then, are you willing to hurt Dory?” Germaine smirked. “Juelz, just admit it! I’m willing to bet you five whole sandwiches. For Dory’s sake, you’d never do anything to Ysabelle.”
“I refuse! Five isn’t enough, It barely counts as a meal.”
Juelz snorted and didn’t say anything else. He turned around and walked back to his bed. He threw his car keys onto the bedside table.
As Germaine saw this, she didn’t get angry, nor did she blame him. She walked over to the sofa with some grapes and sat down. As she ate, she muttered, “Juelz, go to sleep. If there is anything you want to say, we can still talk about it first thing tomorrow. Your eye bags are getting darker. If you don’t get enough rest, then when you start comparing yourself with Credence again, you’d look ten years older than him. Then you’ll have even less to work with to get Dory.”
“But to be honest, I am quite happy about this. If Dory is my cousin, Credence will have to consider me as one of his relatives. When I think of how the most powerful man in Talco City is related to me, I don’t feel so bad.”
Juelz was silent. He had no intention of referring to that damned b*stard Credence as his brother-in-law.
He just wanted things to go back to the way they were before, where he could continue to pursue Dorothy without any repercussions.
Even if Dorothy wasn’t receptive to him, he’d still enjoy competing against Credence.
Finally, when it was dawn, Juelz opened his bloodshot eyes and grabbed his phone to call Yezoo.
Yezoo had already gotten up. An old housekeeper and another male servant supported him in his wheelchair. As soon as he entered the study room and sat at his desk, he heard his phone ringing. Yezoo’s face sank and he signaled the old housekeeper to bring his phone over to him.
After receiving the phone, Yezoo looked down and glanced at the screen. He noticed that it was Juelz calling. He frowned in confusion and asked aloud. “It’s so early in the morning, why do you think Juelz is calling me?”
The old butler was startled and said. “Perhaps the young master has thought it through.”
“Let’s hope he has.”
Yezoo sighed, raised his arm, and signaled to the old housekeeper and the male servants to leave. He pressed the answer button and put the phone to his ear. With a faint smile on his face, he said, “Juelz, it’s me. Why are you looking for me?”
“What? What did you say? I couldn’t hear you. You… please repeat it one more time.” The smile on Yezoo’s lips disappeared. He coughed heavily. His face dropped as he shouted, “Juelz, you found my daughter, the one who died 29 years ago? Really? Where is she? Where on earth is she?”
“She’s in the hospital? She’s weak and almost had a miscarriage? You are saying she’s in a coma as well?”
For a moment, Yezoo’s mind was in a mess. After listening to Juelz, his eyes were filled with tears of sadness and joy. He spoke rather hoarsely. “Okay, okay, good. I’ll go over there right now. Right, I’ll bring your aunt and Jeremy along too.”
“If Jeremy won’t go, then I will drag him with me! I’ve been his foster father for 20 years. Shouldn’t he accompany me to see his younger sister?”
“Alright, that’s all, I’m hanging up now.”
After hanging up the phone, Yezoo closed his eyes and tried hard to calm his fast-beating heart. Only then did he slowly push his wheelchair and rolled out of the study room towards the bedroom.
This was delightful news, he could not wait to tell Ysabelle.
“Ysabelle, I’ve found our daughter.”
Ysabelle was already awake. She was dressed in a pair of lavender-colored pajamas and was putting on a moisturizing mask. Suddenly, Yezoo burst into her bedroom like a gust of wind on his wheelchair. He excitedly bellowed out. “I’ve found our daughter.” She sneered at him with a look of disgust. “Yezoo, have you gone insane? Our daughter died of a serious illness weeks after she was born. Didn’t you see this for yourself? We’ve buried her little body beside the ancestral Sherman family grave. Have you forgotten all that?”
“No! This has to be real. Although Juelz can be reckless and impulsive, he would never lie to us.” Yezoo stared at her indifferent face and sighed. “I understand why you don’t believe it. In fact, I couldn’t believe it at first either. But Juelz is reliable, so I have to believe it! Ysabelle, you should go to the hospital with me to do a paternity test. Even if she isn’t our daughter, it’s no loss to us. Yes, we have to call Jeremy and get to join us.”
As Ysabelle continued listening to him, her stomach filled with anger. She was about to chastise the old man when a crazy thought flashed across her mind.
This crazy thought of hers completely changed her mind.
“Yezoo, this girl you are talking about, is it Dorothy?”
“Yes, it’s her!” Yezoo nodded in agreement.
Ysabelle clenched her fingers. She suppressed the faint anger rising towards her face. “Okay, I’ll go to the hospital with you.”
She wanted to see what this stupid and mindless woman was up to now!
“Call Jeremy.”
Ysabelle nodded. “I’ll call him once I’m in the car.”
