Chapter 389 How Could I Ever Forgive You?

After listening to everything Credence said, especially with how sincere and gentle his attitude was, she felt like she was on cloud nine.
She looked at him in a daze, her mind was a mess and she didn’t know if she should believe him.
After a while, her eyes flickered. She thought of the child that almost died, and her heart, which had gone soft, turned cold again.
She raised her head and stared at him. “Credence, I gave you a chance. But you have failed to live up to my expectations and betrayed my trust. I won’t trust you ever again!”
Every time she believed him, she was severely hurt by him. She never wants to experience such heart-wrenching pain ever again.
Dorothy took a deep breath and smiled. She stared at him with pain in her eyes and said. “Credence, I used to think that you were so much more important than my own life. Back then, I would give you a dozen, no, a hundred chances.”
“However, you shouldn’t have hurt the child in my womb as many times as you did. Six years ago, you killed the child that was in my womb, the child who was supposed to come with Belle. Now, six years later, you almost made me lose another child…”
“How could I ever forgive you? Not all kinds of pain can be forgiven so easily.”
It was difficult for her to finish speaking her mind. Her heart was in great pain, and she was tightly gripping onto her clothes.
Whenever she brought up her painful past, she would feel immense sorrow. It had been so long, but she still couldn’t forget.
Back then, the doctor had analyzed and explained to her the complications her fetus had. Even if Credence hadn’t done anything to her, a deformed fetus would not make it through the later stages of pregnancy.
However, Dorothy couldn’t accept it. Had Credence not done such intense and crazy things to her back then, both of the children would’ve been born successfully, they would have been able to grow up just fine.
On top of that, there was even a slim chance that Belle would suffer from leukemia after she was born. For the past six years of her life, Belle had been to the hospital more times than she’d been to school. Blood tests were more common to her than eating.
Credence had hurt her and her children so badly. How could she forgive him? How could she ever forgive him?
Credence stared at her face, which was filled with anger. He pursed his thin lips, and his face was as calm as ever, but his heart sank.
Having said what she did, she was more than determined to cut off all ties with him.
But, he has already committed to her deep in his heart a long time ago. How could he possibly let her go?
If he really did let her go, then what was the difference between him and a soulless zombie?
Credence forcibly suppressed all of his emotions. A hint of pity and regret flashed across his face.
He lowered his gaze and looked into her eyes. His hands were hanging by his sides. They were trembling. “Honey, I won’t force you. I can wait, I’ll wait until you forgive me! But, you’d better not keep me waiting for too long. I hope that I’m patient enough to wait for that day.”
After that, he gave her one last look. Without hesitating, he turned and left.
“Credence, why won’t you let me go? Why can’t we just have a divorce?”
Dorothy frowned. Her body was still trembling. She widened her eyes and stared at him until he was out of sight. She covered up her aching abdomen with her gown. She then slowly crouched down in the corridor.
They were at a stalemate. Was there any chance for them to still have a happy ending?
Once someone was hurt, they would develop a phobia of that pain for a long, long time. She was scared, she was truly scared to her core.
She didn’t want to lose her children. She didn’t want to lose Belle or her precious unborn baby.
The pain of losing her baby was devastating. She would still wake up in the middle of the night with that same feeling of pain all around her. Her nights had her rolling and twitching about on the bed.
That’s why this time, she didn’t care about the difficulties Credence had. She did not want to forgive him, nor would she care about him.
He could go and be with whatever woman he wanted to be with. He could go and love whoever he wanted to love.
None of them would have anything to do with her.
Dorothy was crouched down in the corridor until her legs turned numb and she found it hard to get up. Only then did she turn to Germaine and Juelz who were still in the other ward. She called out to them, “Germaine, Juelz, come out and help me. My legs are numb, and I can’t get up!”
She didn’t expect Belle to be the first one to run out.
She pouted and stared at Dorothy, who was crouched with her arms around her belly. She was in a great amount of pain. She quickly ran over and stretched out her little hands to pull Dorothy up.
“Mommy, I heard you and Daddy arguing, but Aunt Germaine and Daddy Juelz told me not to go out. They said that you and Daddy had something important to talk about. Mommy, are you really going to break up with Daddy? Does that mean that I won’t be able to see him ever again? Also, have you agreed to marry Daddy Juelz? Do I have to call him Daddy in the future?”
Belle said so much in a single breath. She got a little tired and panted a couple of times. After that, she continued babbling, “Mommy, I like Daddy Juelz a lot, but I still like Daddy more. Can you not marry Daddy Juelz first? How about, how about you only break up with Daddy after he’s taken me to Ocean Park?”
Belle hadn’t seen Credence for nearly half a month, she probably misses him. Almost everything she said had something to do with her father.
After listening to Belle, Dorothy was in a daze. She then reached out and patted her head, and gently asked her. “Belle, do you really want Daddy to play with you every day?”
“Of course.” Belle blinked her big beautiful blue eyes and smiled. “Daddy is the most handsome man I’ve ever seen. Among all the men I know, only Daddy promised to sit with me on a merry-go-round, he is the only one that promised to bring me to see the sharks.”
Looking at how happy her daughter was, Dorothy wasn’t so determined to divorce Credence anymore.
She thought about what Credence had told her.
He said that children who grew up with single parents wouldn’t be happy. He asked her if she was willing to let Belle and their new child go through such heavy psychological burdens.
Dorothy could see that her daughter was happiest when she was by Credence’s side.
For a very brief moment, Dorothy reconsidered her divorce.
Germaine and Juelz walked out of the ward. Seeing Dorothy crouched down with a pained expression, they hurried over. They carefully carried her up from the ground and helped her into the ward. They gently placed her on the bed.
Germaine wiped the cold sweat from Dorothy’s face with a clean towel. “Dory, I heard the whole thing. Don’t think too much about it, it’s useless to worry right now. What’s most important right now is the baby in your womb. You mustn’t get into any more accidents.”
“Okay, I know what’s important and what’s not.”
Dorothy sat on the bed and sighed comfortably. Then, she sipped on a cup of warm tea from Juelz. “Thank you, Juelz, but Germaine is here, she can take care of me. Surely you must have plenty to do in your company. Why don’t you go and attend to your job first?”
Based on her tone, he could tell that she was telling him to leave.
Juelz hid the sadness he felt and pretended to get upset. He raised his eyebrows and said jokingly. “Dory, you don’t need me to drive me away. Cough, cough, my heart hurts so much. It hurts so much that I’m about to die!”
Belle, who was squeezed to the side of the bed, however, took it seriously. She quickly stretched out her small hands and tightly hugged Juelz’s knees. She said with concern in her voice, “Daddy Juelz, where does it hurt? I’ll help you blow on it. It won’t hurt after I blow some air on it.”
This little girl’s words amused Dorothy so much, she almost laughed out loud. The depressing atmosphere immediately turned cheerful.
Juelz bent down and accompanied Belle for a while more before leaving.
He had been away from his company for a few days, and the documents that had accumulated on his desk were piling up fast. There were several urgent matters he needed to attend to.
After he left, Germaine walked up to Dorothy, winked, and said, “Dory, I feel so sorry for Juelz, but you, you drove him away without even batting an eyelash. You’re not so soft-hearted after all! In fact, I can see you still have feelings for Credence, that’s probably because you still love him, and that no one can replace him.”
Suddenly, a ringtone rang out loudly!
It was Dorothy’s phone ringing, and it was ringing loudly!
