Credence stepped out of the car and strode into the hospital. Boden spotted him and quickly ran over with a serious look on his face. “Mr. Scott, I asked the doctor who was attending to Mrs. Scott, she said that Mrs. Scott had a nightmare, and she felt severe pain in her stomach.”
Boden was bold, precise, and skillful. Benjamin personally selected him to lead Dorothy’s team of bodyguards. Aside from him, there were a dozen other men strategically placed around the hospital.
The men were dressed up as ordinary people. They could blend in easily if they were thrown into a crowd. If anyone were to rush into Dorothy’s ward and hurt her, they’d have to get through them first.
As for the nightmare, Boden had explained it to Benjamin over the phone, and Benjamin notified Credence about it in detail. Credence frowned after listening to Boden’s report. He stepped into the hall with a blank face.
Marvin followed close behind. He had a faint smile on his face.
Credence hadn’t thoroughly considered the damage Melanie had caused. Not only did she physically hurt Dorothy, but she had also mentally traumatized her.
No wonder Dorothy pushed him away.
He didn’t know what he could do to coax Dorothy to change her mind this time.
The more he thought about it, the more he began to look forward to it.
Marvin considered his own problems, frowned then followed Credence into the hall.
As for Boden, following Credence’s orders, he returned to the entrance of Dorothy’s ward to check on her.
…
In Dorothy’s ward.
Not long after the doctor left, Dorothy’s stomach began to hurt again. It wasn’t as painful as the one before, it was just a faint throbbing that subsided soon after.
After a while, her forehead was coated in sweat. The fresh hospital gown she had just changed into was soaked in sweat again. She felt uncomfortable when her gown clung to her skin from the sweat.
Juelz did not return to the company, instead, he stayed by Dorothy’s bedside. Seeing how badly she was soaked in sweat, he knew that she was in pain again. He angrily clenched his teeth. He wanted to rip Credence apart, the damned b*stard.
“Dory, try to bear with the pain. I’ll get the doctor right away.”
As soon as he rushed out of the ward, a nurse happened to be passing by. He quickly called the nurse in and asked her to change Dorothy’s gown.
After Dorothy was changed into a fresh gown by the nurse, Juelz returned with the female doctor.
This time, the female doctor massaged Dorothy in the abdomen. She massaged very gently, but Dorothy still grimaced in pain.
“Mr. Sherman, Miss Fisher’s condition doesn’t look very good. It seems much more serious than before. We need to arrange for an amniotic fluid puncture.”
This procedure would be a very dangerous one. The doctor did not dare mention it to Juelz at this moment.
If Dorothy’s stomach pain continued this frequently, it was very likely that there was a big problem with the child in her womb.
Either the child wouldn’t survive, or it would end up disabled.
Regardless, the end result would not be good.
When Dorothy heard that she had to do an amniotic fluid puncture, she spoke up after another wave of pain had subsided. “Doctor, will this hurt my baby?”
“Yes, probably.”
The female doctor paused and saw that Dorothy’s face grew paler. She quickly went to comfort her, “Miss Fisher, you can be assured that this procedure is carried out through a B-mode ultrasound. It is very safe under normal circumstances.”
Juelz was very concerned when he heard her say “piercing”. The female doctor’s ambiguous explanation only made him more anxious. Standing up, he glared at the female doctor with his steely eyes and raised his voice. “Be clear, will it harm the baby or not?!”
The female doctor was shocked by his sudden shouting. During her many visits to examine Dorothy, she had always seen Juelz as gentle and well-mannered. She never expected him to be so terrifying when he was angry.
She dared not hide anything anymore and told him the truth. “Mr. Sherman, if Miss Fisher does the procedure, it will be safe and she won’t suffer any major issues. However, if we don’t do the procedure and allow Miss Fisher to continue experiencing pain, sooner or later, there will be terrible consequences for the child.”
“What kind of consequences? Will it end up as a miscarriage?”
Dorothy’s face turned deathly pale, she looked as though her very soul was drained out of her.
The more pessimistic she was, the more pain she had to endure. This spiral of pain and worry had caused her to have severe depression.
The female doctor decided to tell her about the long-term effects of her injuries. Juelz then raised his hand and interrupted her. “Shut up, that’s enough. Send Dory to the ultrasound room for an inspection.”
“I… I’ll call the chief doctor right away. I assure Miss Fisher there won’t be any issues.”
The female doctor was so scared from Juelz’s threatening glare, she turned around and ran.
Not long after that, she bumped into Boden, who was carrying a basket of fruits and flowers. The man smiled at her brightly and asked, “Hello, beautiful doctor, is Miss Fisher feeling better?”
“I’m afraid not, her pain is worsening.”
The female doctor shook her head in distress. “Miss Fisher’s stomach is still hurting. If this goes on, not only will it badly affect her, but the baby in her womb will suffer as well. If this goes on, we might lose the child, there is also a possibility of the child turning into a deformed fetus.”
“Is it, is it really that serious?”
Boden was so scared that his face turned pale. He almost dropped the fruit basket and flowers. As he came to his senses, he turned around and rushed to the elevator without looking back.
As the elevator doors swung open, Boden saw a tall, upright figure standing inside. He lowered his voice and anxiously reported. “Mr. Scott, I just spoke with the doctor. She said that Mrs. Scott’s stomach pains occur very frequently. If this continues, Mrs. Scott and the baby will have complications.”
“What kind of complications?”
Credence frowned as he asked. He strode towards the ward that Dorothy was situated at. He was walking so fast, it looked like he was flying.
Along the way, his left eyelid began to twitch, it made him feel extremely depressed.
Was something going to happen to Dorothy?
