“So, according to your investigations, you’re certain she’s here?”
Credence was speaking to Marvin as he stepped out of the car. His face had a blank expression on it.
Marvin stepped forward and nodded. “Yes, this is the clinic. No doubt about it. One of my distant cousin’s friends is a partner here. He sent me a video of her after I sent him a picture of her in our family group chat.
In the video, Melanie broke into the operating room, placed a scalpel against the doctor’s neck, and forced him to operate on her. Because it was a small clinic, there was only one operating room, and he was already operating on another patient. So, she couldn’t receive treatment right away.
“Perhaps she only did that because she wanted to be treated as soon as possible. She must have thought that this clinic was too small and remote for us to find her right away. She must have thought she could be long gone from here by the time we find her. Unfortunately, plans change.”
Marvin tossed the cigarette butt in his hand and turned to look at Credence. He noticed Credence’s agitated posture. “Credence, don’t worry. This time, you and I will work together to deal with Melanie. She won’t be able to escape even if she had wings.”
“I don’t intend on letting her leave this place alive either.”
Credence emphasized each word. The chilling stare in his eyes looked like they could freeze a person solid.
When he felt his killing intent, Marvin nodded, “Good, I know what to do.”
Credence didn’t say anything else. He took off his jacket, grabbed the bulletproof vest from Marvin, wore it outside his shirt, and wore his suit over it. He took big strides and walked into the clinic.
With Marvin’s cousin’s cooperation, apart from the doctors that were helping Melanie in the operating room, every other employee had evacuated.
The hospital turned deadly quiet.
Credence entered, he slowly moved his slender fingers towards his waist where the black pistol he had prepared, rested.
Marvin ran after him. “Credence, the operating room is on the fourth floor.”
“Okay.”
Credence nodded. His stern, handsome face was completely devoid of any emotions.
The two of them passed through a silent lobby and walked into the elevator. Marvin slowly entered the elevator. After that, he pressed a red button, which had the number 4 on it.
A few seconds later, the elevator reached the fourth floor, and the door slid open.
Credence stepped out of the elevator and went straight to the operating room. There were red indicator lights flashing.
The LED screen read: Operation in progress.
This meant that Melanie was still being treated by the doctors inside.
Credence took the gun out of his waist. It was already loaded. His slender index finger rested on the trigger.
Marvin followed him closely. “Careful, Melanie always has something up her sleeve. I’ll kick the door and go in first. I’ll see if it really is her in there.”
Without waiting for Credence’s reply, Marvin kicked the door hard. With a loud bang, the two thick doors swung open.
He carefully took in the whole scene inside the room.
However, the calm scene was completely different from what he expected.
All five doctors and nurses had their mouths stuffed with medical gauze, and their limbs were tied up with infusion tubes. They were thrown into the corner of the room, and they didn’t look good.
There was a pool of blood and a few blood-stained sheets on the operating table. It was all rolled up and thrown onto the table. Melanie, that damned woman, had disappeared.
Only the smell of her blood remained, it was the only proof that she had been here before.
Marvin cursed in annoyance. “Motherf*cker, we’ve let that crafty woman escape again. What bad luck!”
He holstered his gun, jumped to the corner, and took out the gauze from the mouths of the doctors and nurses. After that, using a sharp scalpel he cut off the transparent infusion tubing that was holding them hostage.
One of the middle-aged doctors was not as shaken as the rest. He took a few deep breaths and smiled at Marvin. “Thank you, young man. Thank you for saving us. Are you going to find that murderous woman? She escaped a few minutes ago. Before the operation, she told us not to use anesthetics. As a result, the operation was only halfway done. She probably sensed something was wrong, so she tied all of us up and escaped out of the window. She was so fast, we couldn’t respond in time.”
Even though this was a futile trip, Marvin still nodded politely at the doctor. “Okay, thank you for telling us.”
Credence placed his gun back on his holster. He walked to the operating table and recognized her cold demonic scent.
He was all too familiar with this smell, it was similar to Melanie’s fragrance.
That scent stimulated Credence so badly, he felt like he would explode.
He understood that Melanie had escaped again. With her arrogant and vengeful personality, Dorothy’s life and his own are still in danger.
And it would be impossible for that arrogant woman to simply take off without leaving something behind.
Credence took out a pair of transparent gloves from a medical kit and looked at the white sheets that were rolled up.
He reached out his hand and suddenly splayed them open.
Sure enough, there was a blank A4-sized paper inside. Dorothy’s name was written on it along with a big red ‘X’.
This was such an obvious provocation, hinting on her next course of action.
Marvin walked over and squinted his eyes. “This woman is disgustingly arrogant.”
Credence frowned and walked to the open window. He glanced around and spotted the familiar black Maybach parked outside the clinic. The windows were rolled down as if she sensed his gaze. She turned around and gave him a kiss. She retreated back into the car and quickly entered the flowing traffic.
Marvin also saw her. He was so angry that his blood vessels were about to explode. “Keeping this woman alive is a great nuisance. We have to kill her as soon as possible.”
Credence stood there and felt the sunshine from the outside. It was bright and warm, but his words were as cold as the rolling rivers of hell.
“We must lure her into our trap, she’ll walk into her own demise.”
