After Dorothy finished eating, she turned around and was about to wash her hands by the sink when she suddenly felt Credence’s hand on her waist.
The searing heat radiated through her thin shirt and on to her skin. It was as if she was electrocuted, and her entire body trembled.
She paused for a moment. After that, she looked up at him with a pair of calm eyes. A complicated and sharp pain flashed in her eyes. “Credence, what am I to you?”
Credence gently pressed her against the wall, his warm palm stroking her cold face. He spoke lowly and slowly, “You’re my wife, the only woman I want to be with for the rest of my life.”
“Then, why won’t you tell me anything? Do you really treat me as your woman?”
Dorothy closed her clear eyes tightly and then opened them again. She grasped Credence’s big palm which was holding her face tightly. The force was so strong that Credence almost felt a little bit of pain.
Her fair face was filled with determination. “Credence, if you’re still unable to love me, like our previous marriage, just tell me and I won’t bother you. If I could leave you without hesitation six years ago, I can do it again now.”
“However, if it is really as you said, that you do have me in your heart, that you treat me as your only woman, then don’t try to hide everything from me. Do you know that I’ll overthink and guess if you don’t tell me anything? The feeling of being kept in the dark is something I really hate.”
“I would think that maybe you never really treated me as your wife at all, that’s why you have never cared about my feelings at all.”
“Credence, the most important thing between husband and wife is to be honest and open with each other.”
“I can honestly say that I’ve never hidden anything from you, so I hope that you can do the same. Do you understand me?”
Her words were gentle, but also real and firm. Every word hit the deepest part of Credence’s heart.
His eyes flashed, and he leaned down to plant a kiss on her forehead, his hoarse voice inflected with emotion. “Dorothy, what do I need to do to make you believe that I truly love you? I never wanted to conceal anything from you, but I don’t want you to be bothered by these small matters. I’ll tell you everything you want to know after this matter is over, okay?”
Dorothy raised her head angrily and tilted her head to avoid his kiss. “Why do I need to wait? Can’t you tell me now?”
“Because I don’t have much time left. You and Belle must leave immediately.”
A ruthless, cruel light flashed in his eyes, but he immediately hid it when Dorothy looked up at him. He abruptly pulled her into his arms, which tightened around her.
His sexy lips trailed from her earlobe down to her collarbone, setting her on fire.
Under his attacks, the anger in Dorothy’s heart dissipated and she was successfully distracted by him. She trembled from her attraction to him, and she tried hard to hold on to her remaining rationality. She asked in a trembling voice, “Why should Belle and I leave? Credence, I feel that something is wrong with you tonight. Tell me, what on earth happened?”
Suddenly, Dorothy seemed to have thought of something. After four or five seconds of silence, she suddenly broke free from Credence’s burning embrace. She raised her head and slowly looked up looked into his dark eyes. “Do I have to leave because Melanie came to look for you?”
Credence’s eyes were as deep as the abyss. He did not give her a definite answer.
He only stared at her and said in a firm tone, “I need to be completely focused during this period of time.”
“I won’t go! There are so many bodyguards inside and outside the hospital. What could possibly happen to Belle and me?” Dorothy’s face turned pale, and her heart kept sinking. “Credence, tell me, did something really terrible happen? Is that why you are sending Belle and me away?”
“Babe, believe me. I’m not sending you away because I don’t want you or that I am abandoning you. It’s just that I am not willing to put you and Belle in danger. You two are the people I value the most, thus I must make sure that you are safe, understand?”
His words sounded were tactful, but his attitude was firm.
Dorothy knew how he was. He was overbearing and decisive. Once he made a decision, nothing she said would matter.
However, if he forced her to go far away without saying anything, she really could not bear this grievance in her heart. She was in a mess, which made her brain overthink wildly.
In the end, she moved her lips, but she did not say anything.
Seeing her standing there in a daze and not saying a word, Credence felt somewhat guilty. He quickly called Benjamin and said, “Bring a few men here and pack Mrs. Scott’s things up. Bring her and Belle to the rooftop. A helicopter is already waiting there, and Marvin’s there as well.”
Benjamin had already been waiting in the corridor. When he received Credence’s call, he immediately got to work. With a wave of his hand, he led several nurses who had long been on standby to open the door and walk into the ward one by one.
Some sleeping pills were placed inside Belle’s food. They wouldn’t harm her and would ensure that she stayed deeply asleep.
At this moment, there was a commotion as the people packed up, but Belle wasn’t disturbed at all. She didn’t wake up when Benjamin gently picked her up.
Dorothy, who was in the lounge, heard the noise outside and knew that something was wrong. She glared at Credence, then turned and hurried out.
When she saw several nurses stuffing her and Belle’s clothes into the luggage, she was so angry that she could not breathe smoothly. She rushed up to grab her clothes back and gasped, “Stop, what are you doing? Who allowed you to touch my things?”
The nurses who were packing up were shocked. They did not expect this beautiful and gentle-looking woman to be so terrible when she was fierce. They all stopped what they were doing and turned to look at Benjamin, who was holding Belle, for help.
Benjamin did not know what Credence told Dorothy. However, from Dorothy’s anxiousness and refusal to cooperate, he was sure that she was not convinced.
The gears in his mind worked, and he smiled at Dorothy politely. “Mrs. Scott, just listen to Mr. Scott. He is doing it for your’s and Miss Belle’s sake.”
“So you think that not telling me anything and hiding everything from me is good for me?”
When Dorothy saw how Belle laid in Benjamin’s eyes motionlessly despite all the noise, she started feeling anxious and rushed over. “Benjamin, what did you do the Belle? Give her back to me!”
“Mrs. Scott, I didn’t do anything to Miss Belle.”
She was Mrs. Scott, and she had a noble status. Benjamin dared not confront her face-to-face, thus he held Belle tightly and retreated.
Seeing this, Dorothy got even more anxious. She ran forward as fast as she could with all her strength.
“Ah!”
In her hurry, she didn’t notice the suitcase and tripped over it, falling to the floor.
The moment her abdomen slammed into the floor, Dorothy was in so much pain she couldn’t breathe. She felt like a sharp axe was chopping her stomach open.
“Credence, it hurts. Save me, save our baby!”
Dorothy passed out right after saying that.
Bright red blood trailed down from underneath her skirt, down her calf and dripped onto the floor.
All at once, a faint scent of blood could be smelled in the air!
