At the same, Credence leaned against the bed in the luxurious VIP ward. He looked at Benjamin, who stood before him respectfully, the happiness in his face unconcealed. Credence raised an eyebrow in surprise. “You’re saying that aside from Juelz’s portion, two other portions of the company’s shares have just been transferred in?”
“Yes, Mr. Scott.”
This was the first time Benjamin had felt so happy over the past few days. “From the amount, it looks like it should be Jeremy and Rosalie’s shares. Now, most of them are back in your hands.”
Credence didn’t share in Benjamin’s joy. He was more forward-thinking, and he frowned while saying, “Jeremy and Rosalie planned on bringing Scott Group down. Why have they suddenly just dropped everything? Don’t you think something’s wrong with that?”
Benjamin was surprised, but he quickly realised something was afoot. “That’s right. Why would Jeremy and Rosalie suddenly just give everything up?”
Credence immediately recalled what Dorothy had told him just a while ago. Jeremy had cruelly whipped Germaine with a barbed whip, causing Germaine to be greatly injured both physically and psychologically.
In other words, Jeremy had returned his portion of Scott Group shares, and also ordered Rosalie to give hers up out of guilt.
However, Rosalie wouldn’t do that even if she was forced.
With his sharp premonition, Credence narrowed his eyes and signaled for Benjamin to help him get his phone. He then quickly dialled Dorothy’s number.
The call went through, but no one answered.
There was no sign of anyone answering the phone despite waiting for over a dozen seconds, and Credence frowned.
With how much Dorothy cared for him, especially while he was still injured, she would definitely take good care of him. This meant that it would be impossible for her to not answer the call.
Something definitely must have happened.
A cold glint flashed in Credence’s eyes. He abruptly lifted the white sheets covering him and removed the IV needle from his hand as well as all the instruments that were stuck onto his body. He quickly got out of bed and put on his shoes before striding out.
Credence moved too quickly, and he could feel the pain coming from his body as he pulled on his injuries. His head pounded and he spun dizzily. He could barely tell up from down.
Benjamin followed Credence hurriedly. When he saw Credence almost falling over, he frantically held Credence up and said worriedly, “Mr. Scott, the doctor said that you can’t get out of bed so soon after the surgery. You might have some side effects.”
“My woman is in trouble. Shouldn’t I get out of bed?” His body throbbed painfully everywhere, and he said coldly, “You come with me. Drive me over there.”
Benjamin didn’t dare to say anything else to stop Credence at his frosty aura. “Mr. Scott, I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have interfered. I’ll drive you over immediately.”
….
At the same time, Jeremy received Wilson’s phone call. When he heard that Rosalie was holding Germaine hostage, the menacing ruthlessness in him surged.
“Wilson, you’re getting worse and worse at your job. You can’t even catch a woman? And you even allowed her to get to Germaine? How stupid can you be!”
Wilson’s fear and trepidation could be heard even over the phone. “Boss, the important thing is to get Miss Germaine out of Rosalie’s hands. You can do anything you want with me after that!”
“Miss Germaine looks like she’s completely lost the will to live! She’s not struggling nor is she making noise. She’s just allowing that b*tch to hold her hostage!”
“They’ve entered the elevator now, and they’re going down to the first floor.”
“Boss, I’m planning on shooting Rosalie dead, but I’m worried that I’ll accidentally hurt Miss Germaine. What… what should I do, boss?”
When Wilson mentioned that Germaine looked like she didn’t want to continue living, Jeremy’s heart sank.
He’d never thought that his atrocities would bring Germaine so much pain and suffering.
However, it was too late to regret it now.
His eyes turned vicious, and his voice was like ice. “Shut the hospital entrance and keep Rosalie steady. Buy me as much time as you can. I’m coming over right now.”
Jeremy had lived a dark, dirty life, and Germaine was the only one who’d brought him warmth and happiness. She was the only light in his life.
If it weren’t for this light guiding him, he would’ve sank right to the bottom of the dark pit of his life.
Hence, how could he allow the light in his life to disappear?
He would definitely destroy anyone who decided to kill his only light.
…
In the corridor of the hospital, Wilson led Blade from the eighth floor down to the first floor using the stairwell.
Meanwhile, Dorothy waited for the other elevator, then walked in with Locus. They headed to the first floor as well.
As she watched the changing numbers, Dorothy’s heart raced. She prayed for the elevator to move faster.
She felt the same as Wilson. She could see that Germaine had lost the will to live from the way she just succumbed to Rosalie’s threats.
She knew that Germaine, the fiery woman who was as energetic as the scorching heat, was now completely lifeless, and it had everything to do with Jeremy.
Hence, Dorothy cursed Jeremy in her heart and turned to glare at Locus. “How useless can you be? You didn’t manage to catch Rosalie, and you even allowed her to get ahold of Germaine!”
“Do you even know that Germaine is gravely injured now? She’s already half dead, and who knows how she’ll end up after this? Will your boss only be happy once she’s actually dead?”
Locus had never been scolded so badly by a woman. He was taken aback by Dorothy’s roaring, then his face darkened. However, he recalled that Wilson had warned him that this woman was Miss Germaine’s best friend, and they couldn’t harm her, lest it caused Miss Germaine and their boss’ relationship to deteriorate further. Then, their boss would end up completely alone…
At the thought of that, Locus quickly calmed himself down and smiled apprehensively. “We’re just flunkies, we don’t have the power to make decisions. Miss Fisher, please don’t worry with Mr. Wilson around. He called boss to let him know, and once our boss acts, Miss Germaine will definitely be safe.”
Dorothy was expressionless. Suddenly, her phone rang, and it was probably Credence calling. She’d just reached into her bag to dig her phone out when the elevator doors opened. Chaos met her eye.
Out of the corner of her eye, Dorothy saw Rosalie maintaining her grip on Germaine’s neck as she disappeared to the left. Dorothy’s eyes flashed, and she quickly chased after them.
As she chased after them, a single thought kept repeating in her mind.
She couldn’t let Rosalie take Germaine away no matter what!
