Chapter 262 A Good Act

Book:My Husband Hates Me Published:2024-5-1

Ysabelle saw Leilani coming from a distance and was slightly shocked to find that she was not dressed up at all. Instead, the woman was only wearing a simple grey sleeveless dress. It made her look like an ordinary and innocent woman rather than a celebrity.
Ysabelle thought it was ridiculous.
Nowadays, nobodies would dress like celebrities, while celebrities would dress like a nobody.
When the two women finally made eye contact with each other, they understood each other at a single glance.
Leilani walked over, sat opposite Ysabelle, and greeted her sister with a smile. When Ysabelle looked up, she immediately saw a hickey on her neck. It looked recent, so she could not help but smile contemptuously as she taunted, “Leilani, did you just climb out of another man’s bed? After so many years, you are still the same. You can’t live without a man as your ATM, can you?”
“Oh, Ysabelle, we’re one and the same, alright? Let’s not call each other out here.”
Leilani was disgusted by her sister’s remark, so she took a sip of her sweet milk tea before retorting, “You were just like me back then. You went through rows upon rows of men all day, hoping to find someone to change your life. You wanted to hit the jackpot as well.”
She taunted, “Oh, I remember now. Your first target wasn’t that nerd, Yezoo, was it? It was that other guy. What was his name again? Anyway, in the end, you found out that he had a beautiful wife and a cute son too. He completely disregarded your existence, didn’t he? I still remember how demented you looked! You looked as if you were on the verge of going crazy.”
She continued, “You’re so lucky. I don’t know how many people you’ve slept with, but you managed to bring that burden Jeremy with you to the Sherman family under Yezoo’s care in the end. You’re living quite a wealthy life now, aren’t you?”
Leilani sneered, “But, what about me? As your only biological sister in this world, the first thing you did when you entered the Sherman family was to cut off all ties with me. You were worried that I would tarnish your distinguished reputation as a lady of the Sherman family. Hahaha, what a joke! Just how much more noble are you compared to me? We’re the same! You’re just a sl*t that has slept with countless other men like me.”
“Leilani, you’d better shut up!”
Ysabelle had been living a comfortable life for many years now. As such, she had long been accustomed to being flattered by others. She had never once received these criticisms that Leilani had just used to mock her. She was trembling with anger and clear undiluted hate could be seen brimming in her eyes as she spoke coldly, “The reason I called you here today is not to talk about the past. I have something very important.”
“What is it? Let’s get to business then.”
Even though Leilani dressed plainly but elegantly, her table manners were still rather vulgar. She stretched out her hand to pick up a croissant and began to chew as she glanced at her so-called sister in front of her from time to time. She stared at the necklace that was worth no less than tens of millions of dollars on Ysabelle’s neck. She felt her heart stir in envy.
“Ysabelle, you’re really something! The Sherman family’s business is pretty big, isn’t it? I heard that your own son, Jeremy, is now in control of it. With such a large sum of wealth, you could have spared me a little something to allow me to live out the rest of my life comfortably.
But you didn’t do it! You would rather watch me sell my body to those ugly, wretched men than help me. A heartless sl*t like you deserve to be detested by the man you love, you deserved to never find true love.”
“Leilani, are you done?”
After being scolded by Leilani, Ysabelle took a deep breath and contained her anger. She lowered her head and elegantly sipped her coffee before speaking coldly, “If you want to miss your only chance in life to make some big bucks, then go on, continue scolding me.”
Upon hearing that, Leilani’s pupils contracted. She stared at the indifferent Ysabelle dubiously and asked, “What do you mean by big bucks? Why would you treat me so kindly?”
Ysabelle did not keep her in the dark for too long. She took out Dorothy’s information from her bag and threw it towards Leilani. “Of course I’m not just being kind to you for your sake. I need your help to meet someone.” She explained.
“Who is it?”
“Look at the information first.”
Leilani pulled out the thin stack of documents in her hands and looked. When she saw Dorothy’s face on the first page, she realized that the woman in the picture looked exactly like her, and she suddenly stiffened.
She widened her charming eyes that were covered with black eyeshadow and cried incredulously, “What the hell, why does this woman look so much like me?”
Apart from looking somewhat younger in the photo, that woman’s oval face and beautiful facial features were exactly a carbon copy of hers.
“It says here that her name is Dorothy. Tell me, where did you find her?”
After looking through the basic information, Leilani unconsciously clenched her fingers. Her face was filled with complex emotions and she looked shocked and nervous at the same time.
“I met her once just a few days ago. I bumped into her by accident and thought that she looked a lot like you. That’s why I called you to meet up with me,” Ysabelle paused and glanced at the anxious Leilani. The emotions in her eyes changed. “I suspect that she is your biological daughter. That year, when Jeremy was four years old, I was pregnant with Yezoo’s child. You had a child of your own too. In December, both of us gave birth to a daughter two days apart.
After that, when you realized that you had given birth to a daughter and not a son, you abandoned her in a welfare home and ignored her. My daughter, however, died less than half a month after she was born.”
At the end of that year, to stop me from crying every day, Yezoo proposed to me. He endured great pressures and difficulties from the Sherman family to marry me.”
When she finished talking, a trace of pity could be seen on Ysabelle’s well-maintained and delicate face.
Speaking of which, although her daughter’s life was not long, it was enough to help her take her first steps into the gates of the Sherman family.
Ysabelle’s shameless look made Leilani feel as if she had just swallowed a fly. She found the situation rather heartless and disgusting.
Leilani clenched her hands tightly under the table as she tried to cover up the guilt in her eyes. She did not hesitate to call her sister out and said, “You? Sad? Crying over the loss of your daughter? All of that was just an act. If you didn’t act like that, would he risk his livelihood to marry you? D*mn, you are a f*cking sl*tty b*tch, aren’t you? If you want to play mind games with me, sorry, but no thanks.”
“Leilani, you’re really stupid. We’ve already been talking for a while now. Just where has your focus strayed? Did you read the last page? It is clearly written that Dorothy is the wife of Credence, the director of the Scott Group.
Can’t you use that stupid brain of yours to think for one second? This is the Scott Group we are talking about. It is a big enterprise worth hundreds of billions of dollars. It is massively wealthy!
As Dorothy’s biological mother and Credence’s mother-in-law, it will be easy for you to extort some money from them.”
Ysabelle’s points had truly hit Leilani.
After circling the entertainment industry for such a long time, she had long been exposed to human’s true nature. She knew how important money and connections were.
If she did not have money, then there was no way she would have the confidence to do anything.
If she did not have any confidence, then she could be stepped on like an ant at any moment by people that looked down on her.
Dorothy was not someone for her to fear, however, the man on her side, Credence, was like an omnipotent being in Talco City. If they discovered the thirty-year-long secret that she had been hiding all these years…
No, that didn’t sound plausible.
After so many years, the evidence should have long been forgotten and lost as time passed. It would never be found again. Never!
At the thought of that, Leilani clenched her fists and tried to contain her disordered mind. After that, she asked Ysabelle tentatively, “Do you think Dorothy will still recognise me as her mother even though I haven’t been in her life for well over thirty years? What if she doesn’t want to take me as her mother?”
“What are you afraid of? If we have a paternity test report proving that you are, she won’t be able to deny it even if she wants to.”
Were they going to do a paternity test?!
Leilani quietly swallowed cold saliva and stared at the documents in her hands without saying a word.
“All you have to do is prepare yourself and wait for Credence and Dorothy to send someone over to ask you for a paternity test.”
“So you want Dorothy- Oh, no, wait. Who do you want my daughter to help you meet?”
“We’ll talk about that when the time comes.”
Seeing that the matter was somewhat settled, Ysabelle did not want to be seen together with Leilani, so she picked up her expensive handbag and stood up to leave.
“Hold on, I’m leaving with you.”
Just as Ysabelle was about to walk out of her sight, Leilani suddenly returned to her senses. She grabbed her bag tightly and chased after her. While Ysabelle had not been paying attention, she had taken something from her and quickly stuffed it into her bag.
The two women then came out of the cafe one after the other. A tall and ominous figure could be seen walking out from behind a screen. He had heard every bit of their conversation.
