Chapter 236 Tailed

When Dorothy carried Belle into the car, she realized that Credence had moved to the back seat. Benjamin was the one in the driver’s seat instead. He nodded and smiled at her without saying anything.
She returned a polite smile to him as well.
It seemed like Benjamin did not receive too harsh of a punishment for bringing her to Mandalay Town. This made her feel more at ease.
What she didn’t expect was that as soon as she got in the car, the man beside her took Belle away from her arms in one fell swoop. Then, he firmly held her hand, giving her absolutely no chance to refuse.
She could hear his deep and gentle voice in her ear. “She doesn’t look like me.”
She had a fair face, a tall nose, and thin and soft golden hair. He thought that this child was just a product of her and a random man’s pleasure in Monticello. Little did he expect her to be her biological daughter.
Then, Credence lowered his eyes to stare at Belle, who had not woken up yet. He gulped, and for the first time in his life, his iron heart softened into a puddle.
Hearing the man’s faint and incredulous voice, Dorothy smiled. “No one said that a daughter should look like the father. Actually, Belle doesn’t look too much like me either.
The moment she was born, she opened her big blue eyes. I thought that the nurse had brought me the wrong child, but they told me I was the only one who gave birth that night. Hence, it was impossible for them to bring the wrong child. After that, I naturally accepted Belle as a mixed-race child.”
Credence, the two of us are of the same ethnicity, yet we have a beautiful mixed-race child. It’s amazing, isn’t it?”
Credence held his daughter’s soft little body tightly. The corners of his eyes were slightly red, and his heart was beating fast too.
It was so fast that it almost jumped out of his chest, and he found it difficult to breathe.
He sighed lightly and raised Dorothy’s little hand to the corners of his thin lips. He kissed her and looked at her tenderly. “Thank you, Dorothy. Thank you, Baby!”
He felt so lucky to have found a woman who was willing to give up everything and still give birth to his child despite enduring his violence and indifference for so many years.
Also lucky to have a beautiful daughter like Belle too.
Dorothy was shocked by that man’s sudden tenderness. She stared blankly for a moment before noticing Benjamin’s smiling face from the rear-view mirror. “I gave birth to Belle for my own sake, not yours. Don’t flatter yourself.” She said as she blushed.
Credence could not help but laugh when he saw her shy yet stubborn look. He squinted his cold eyes and smiled. “You are right. I only flatter myself because of you.”
Dorothy was at a loss for words, and she really didn’t know how to go on with this topic.
As soon as the car drove out of the hospital, they met Marvin, who got out of his car. Seeing Credence leaning against the spacious back seat holding the rosy sleepy child in his arms. He took a good look at the child and was surprised as well. He was reluctant to accept the fact. “Credence, this…”
Two people from Horsburg gave birth to a foreign girl. Was this f*cking normal?
This man had been his friend for many years, thus with just a glance, Credence naturally understood what was on his mind. He frowned and said coldly, “Let’s go back to Talco City first.”
No matter what other people thought, he believed Dorothy’s words to be true. He believed that she did not lie to him, and was determined to believe everything she said from now on.
“Alright, lend me a lighter!” Marvin asked.
“It’s in my pocket, take it yourself.”
He said simply as he raised his brows. Credence’s two strong arms were hugging Belle, thus he could not free himself from her.
Therefore, Marvin bent down and reached out through the windows. He took out the lighter from Credence’s suit pockets as well as two strands of golden hair. He held it tightly in his arms and quickly took it out.
The sound of the lighter being used could be heard.
Marvin put the cigarette between his lips, lit it, then tossed the lighter back to Credence and walked back to his car. He solemnly deposited the two pieces of her soft blond hair into his chest pocket properly.
He trusted Dorothy’s character deep down. But people change. It had been six years, who knew what kind of person she had become?
It was better to be more cautious about these unimaginable things.
If Credence was not willing to do a paternity test, then he would!

A group of four cars drove out of the small town, rushing towards Talco City.
For Belle’s sake, they took turns driving. Apart from some necessary activities, they did everything else in the car, including eating, drinking, and resting too.
That morning, when they were less than an hour away from Talco City, Credence suddenly stared at the rear-view mirror with a cold and scary gaze.
Dorothy felt a chill, but she did not understand what he had seen. She could not help but ask, “What’s wrong?”
He stretched his slender finger over and gently scraped the center of her palm, but his eyes were as sharp as a blade. “Someone is tailing us. They have changed cars, but it is still the same group of people.”
Had someone been following them the whole journey?
Why hadn’t she realized it?
Dorothy was shocked and wanted to turn back to see what was going on, but she was quickly stopped by the man. “It’s just a few scoundrels, they are not worth your time or gaze.”
He did not want her to see, thus Dorothy listened to him and sat straight. Then, she lowered her face and looked down at Belle’s face, which was getting paler and paler. She frowned and asked, “Then, are we in danger?”
“Don’t worry. I am here.”
After that, Credence took out his phone and called Marvin, who was driving at the back of the motorcade. He sneered and said, “How many people have been following us these past few days?”
“At least two batches. They’ve almost fought each other in the middle of the chase.”
Marvin replied, as his long fingers adjusted his sunglasses, which had a remote observation function. His fierce gaze was filled with hits of killing intent. “They have kept an even pace with us throughout our journey. It doesn’t seem like they are here to cause trouble, more like they wanted to see where we are going.”
Credence held his phone tightly, and his handsome gaze suddenly became colder. “Two groups of people. It’s not surprising. Apart from Rosalie’s people, the other would be Jeremy’s.”
He could understand why Rosalie had sent someone to go after him, since she held a deep grudge against him. She wanted nothing more than to have Credence and his entire family murdered.
But what did Jeremy want?
“Credence, have you offended him before, or did you rob his ancestor’s grave?” Marvin asked in confusion.
“I too want to know why he has such malicious intent towards me.” Credence replied, confused as well.
“Should we go directly to the government hospital now, or should we try to lose the tail?”
Credence narrowed his eyes and coldness spilled out from it. “We’ll go to the government hospital first, then leave through the special passageway to the secret hospital. Arrange three layers of security each inside and out of Belle’s ward. I want to see who is fearless as to feel my bullets!”
After getting out of the car, the man held his daughter with one hand and took Dorothy in the other to Jonathan’s hospital. His tensed facial features looked even more ferocious under the afternoon sun.
He noticed that someone in the black car reported in a low voice, but Credence turned a cold face and pretended to not have seen it.
Dorothy did not know the whole process. He followed Credence’s footsteps and stepped into the hospital lobby, which was full of people.
