Chapter 234 Dense Fog

When they arrived at the destination, Dorothy got out of the car immediately. She picked up her bag and rushed into the gates of the hospital.
Her heart was in a panic for no reason. She was worried about Belle and Germaine.
She felt that she could only be at ease after she met up with Germaine.
Credence, who was sitting in the driver’s seat of the black Maybach, looked at Dorothy’s slender back with a deep gaze. He watched her rush towards the glass door with a cold look on his face.
The young man, who seemed to be Jeremy’s assistant, slowly stretched out half of his face from the back seat of a black car. When he saw Dorothy getting into the car, he lowered his head and spoke to someone on his phone.
Credence’s pitch-black pupils contracted by a bit. There was a faint and cold expression on his handsome face.
What on earth was Jeremy up to?
He recalled all of his memories, but he could not think of ever offending someone like Jeremy.
The Scott Group and the old master of the Sherman family used to have business dealings with each other. They weren’t exactly close, but there were no hard feelings either.
After the old master of the Sherman family had a stroke after falling ill. Half of his body was disabled and he could only lie in the hospital bed where he needed the nurse’s help in doing everything. Yet, the Sherman family’s wealth and businesses did not fall into Juelz’s hand, the only grandson of the old master. Instead, it fell into the hands of an outsider, Jeremy.
Back then, Credence only thought that Juelz was defeated by the power-hungry Jeremy because he was not capable enough. Now, it seemed that Jeremy was not a good man himself. His ambitions were so big that annexing the Sherman family was not enough, he wanted to take down the Scott Group and make it his own as well.
But after giving it another thought, something still felt amiss.
The greed of power and wealth alone were not enough for Jeremy to perversely do something to Belle, a barely six years old girl.
There must be some deeper meaning behind this that he did not know of.
Because Jeremy’s attitude towards him was filled with deep hatred and nothing else.
After pondering for a few seconds, Credence took out his phone from his trouser pocket and gave Victor a call. “It’s me. Help me investigate a person. Starting from before he was seven!”
If his memories served him right, Jeremy entered the Sherman family with his mother when he was seven and changed his surname to Sherman.
Because Jeremy’s mother married Juelz’s uncle that year.

The hospital in the town was relatively simple and could not be compared to Talco City’s hospitals. However, Jeremy still spent a lot of money to arrange the best doctors and nurses to Germaine’s ward.
Therefore, she recovered quickly although her body had suffered serious injuries and was covered with scars, she was still provided extremely great care that was comparable to a five-star hotel.
After receiving Wilson’s call and learning that Dorothy was about to come in, Germaine went into the bathroom with a nurse’s help. She changed into a fiery red dress and put on charming and thick makeup. She carefully looked at the mirror embedded in the wall and made sure that there were no signs of any haggardness, only then did she nod in satisfaction.
After that, with the nurse’s help, she went out of the bathroom and sat on the only sofa in the ward. She slowly drank some tea, ate some snacks, and crossed her legs as she waited.
She did not want Dorothy to realize that something was wrong nor did she want Dorothy to feel upset and guilty.
She thought that it would be best for her to bear this humiliation and pain alone.

As soon as Dorothy opened the door, she saw Germaine sitting carefreely on the sofa with her legs crossed while eating snacks.
She took a closer look at her condition and heaved a sigh of relief after seeing her delicate, tender face as well as her bright, red lips. It seemed like she had not suffered too much.
It seemed like there was a lot that she wanted to tell her, but when she was about to speak, it only turned into a greeting, “I’m sorry for only coming now, Germaine. Are you all right? Did… did Jeremy do anything to you?”
“I’m fine.”
She could tell that Dorothy felt a little uncomfortable. Hence, Germaine stood up from the sofa and made Dorothy sat where she did, only then she sat next to her. She closed her gloomy eyes for a split second, opened her eyes, and showed her signature pure and straightforward smile. “Dory, don’t worry. Nothing bad happened to me apart from being scolded by that b*tch Rosalie. After all, I am still a noble lady of the Sherman family. That shameless b*tch would still think twice before doing anything to me.”
She was still smiling, and it was the same warm and cheerful smile she always had.
Dorothy believed Germaine’s words and finally gave a relaxed smile. “It’s good that you are fine, Germaine!”
The two chatted eagerly for over ten minutes. Germaine drove the doctors and nurses around her away. After that, she got close to Dorothy and whispered, “Dory, I secretly asked Wilson. Belle fell into a coma not long after Jeremy found her. She is in the ICU on the third floor and hasn’t woken up yet. Do you think we should take Belle away now? Or should we wait until she wakes up?”
“We’ll do it now! Belle is fine, she has just fainted. Nothing too bad would happen to her as long as she puts on an oxygen mask.”
Dorothy was worried about a lot of things, especially after the very few times she had contact with Jeremy. She still could not understand him at all. She could not see his true colors clearly, nor could she figure out his true intentions and it frightened her.
She was worried that if she didn’t take Belle away sooner, she might not be able to do it anymore.
Germaine also could not figure out why Jeremy was holding on to Belle; why didn’t he inform Dorothy and Credence as soon as he found her.
However, she had a boorish personality. If she could not figure it out, she would just put these thoughts aside and not think about it for the time being.
To avoid further complications, Germaine immediately nodded and said, “Alright, I will arrange it now.”
After that, she lowered her head and sent a message to Wilson, asking if Jeremy was in the hospital at the moment.
If Jeremy was there, she would try her best to hold him back for as long as she could.
For some inexplicable reason, Germaine felt that Jeremy wouldn’t allow Dorothy to take Belle away so easily.
Wilson received the news and thought that Germaine had inquired about Jeremy’s movements because she had changed her mind and realized that Jeremy did not have ill intentions towards her. He was happy and directly called her, “Miss Germaine, Boss is still in the hospital. He is dealing with the company’s emergency documents in the lounge on the top floor. If you go to him, he will be overjoyed.”
For the past few days, since Germaine was humiliated by a few hooligans, she did not pounce on Jeremy like she used to. Instead, she hid far away, unwilling to speak to him, thus Jeremy’s cold face got colder and more frightening. Whoever met him would not be treated well.
Wilson tried to avoid his boss as much as he could, but at the same time, he worried about his boss’s trouble-filled love life.
But now, Germaine was actually taking the initiative to flirt with his boss. This was really good news.
Wilson bent down in the back seat of the car and thought about the intense acts Germaine and Jeremy would have in the lounge. In ten months time, he would be able to meet the new baby boss.
He was so happy that he did not even notice Germaine hanging up the phone.
In the ward, Germaine simply threw her phone onto the sofa, gently tugged at Dorothy, who had stood up as well, and walked out.
“Dory, come with me!”
