Chapter 233 She Was His Weakness

Either he had finally thought it through, or perhaps, it was Marvin’s irritating words that provoked him. Credence’s pale face gradually turned colder and sharper under the dazzling sun.
He pressed his throbbing temples and parted his thin lips insidiously. “Impossible! There is no way I would hand my woman over to Juelz.”
“Then, you know what you should do.”
Marvin felt that because of Belle and Germaine’s kidnapping, his heart had aged a lot in these few days. He sighed as he looked at the statue of a man standing in front of him.
“Credence, I stay in the army with a bunch of stinking men all year round, so I don’t know this love you guys talk about. But I have watched your entanglement with Dorothy for a decade. Life is short, how many years can we still waste?
Since you have already fallen in love with Dorothy, then go back and tell her that you couldn’t find Belle. Tell her the truth. If she loves you, she naturally wouldn’t blame you.
After all, you are just a man, not an omnipotent God. There is really no need to give yourself too much pressure.
Moreover, Belle is your biological daughter. You must be hoping to find her more than anyone else as well.”
The words “Belle is your biological daughter” shook Credence deeply. He fell silent for about three or four seconds before taking a cigarette from Marvin, lit it up, and took a few big huffs. He got rid of the irritating feeling through the smoke, and his narrow eyes became sharp and clear.
Apart from the locals, there were only some road-tripping tourists in this remote town. The only person who would drive a white Maserati with a few other luxurious cars following in this town would be Jeremy.
He suddenly figured out this key point. He smirked dangerously, then turned to face Marvin blankly and said, “You’ve been talking a lot lately. Since you are dissatisfied, you should go back to your troop and find your woman to vent your frustrations. I am almost done with the things here, we can go back to Talco City anytime.”
“Credence, there’s nothing more than military camaraderie between the two of us. Can you stop with these thoughts of yours?”
When the matured man spoke obscenely, Marvin, who still had his virginity, became embarrassed and his face turned crimson.
Fortunately, his wheat-colored dark skin helped hide most of it.
Credence kept silent, instead, he slowly stepped into the car, started the engine, and headed towards the temporary base Dorothy was staying in.
At the same time, Dorothy held a box in her hand dazedly.
Wilson’s men had sent it not long ago. He said that she would understand as soon as she saw the content.
She stared at the thing that looked like a little finger for a long time, yet she couldn’t understand Jeremy’s intentions.
“Jeremy’s assistant sent this. Do you know what this means?”
When Credence heard this, he slowly walked towards Dorothy and noticed what she was looking at quietly. He took out the content and narrowed his eyes to take a closer look. It looked like a child’s finger made of flour. The work was delicate and lifelike.
He thought of what Jeremy said before he took Germaine away, and his expressions immediately changed. His tall body got stiff, and a bloodthirsty expression flashed across his cold face. “I think he is going to do something to Belle.”
“Are you saying that Belle is in his hands?”
Dorothy’s body shook as she stared at the finger made of flour for a long while. She suddenly pounced on Credence and shouted panickily, “Why? Belle is just a child who is barely six. She is even suffering from an illness. Why would Jeremy cut off Belle’s finger so heartlessly?”
Credence lowered his gaze, and his eyes were filled with cold mockery. “He aims to deal with me!”
“What does he want from you? Credence, what have you done? Why does Jeremy want to vent his anger on Belle?”
Dorothy gritted her teeth and her face was full of complaints and anxiety.
She looked at him, and her voice was empty with no trace of emotions. “I don’t care what happened between you men. Credence, I only want Belle and Germaine to be safe. If… if anything happens to them, I won’t forgive you, never!”
If Credence hadn’t gotten himself involved with that stubborn lunatic, Rosalie, then Belle would still be playing happily in the amusement park. She wouldn’t need to endure the hardships of a wanderer.
It didn’t matter how he had hurt her in the past. Dorothy could always stay calm and let go no matter how painful it was.
However, this time, it was about the safety of her precious daughter. She had always thought of Belle’s life as one that was more important than her own. Ever since she was born, she had taken care of Belle with all her heart. She had never let Belle get hurt. How could she calm down when death was very likely to be involved in this?
Dorothy slowly raised her crystal-like eyes and chuckled. “Credence, you know what, if it wasn’t for Belle’s leukemia, and that your bone marrow didn’t match with hers, I would never have slept with you that night!”
“I did it because I hoped that I could have another child and treat Belle with the cord blood. The doctor said that this is the last resort. Had there been any other choices, I would never have returned to Talco City and have anything to do with you.”
There was a sad smile on her pale face, and her words were as cruel as a blade. Credence felt as if his whole body was immersed in the freezing ocean and his heart felt as if it had been shot by tens of millions of bullets. The heart-wrenching pain was bloody painful.
He realized that ever since he cared about her, she had become his weakness. Everything she said could turn into a sharp blade, piercing through him and making him bleed.
He hid the pain, looked up at her, and smiled calmingly. “It’s alright. I am willing to sleep with you even if it was a scheme.”
Dorothy frowned. Just when she was about to say something, her cell phone on the bed rang.
She frowned and ignored Credence. She turned around, grabbed the cell phone, and glanced at the screen. It was Germaine. She sorted out her gloom and chuckled. After that, she answered the phone, “Germaine, are you all right?”
“I… I’m fine. Dory. When I woke up, I was here at Jeremy’s. I don’t know what happened. Tell me quickly, have you found Belle?”
The last thing Germaine remembered was when she tore off her own clothes and pounced on those filthy men to buy time for Belle to escape.
When she woke up, no one told her anything about Belle. Hence, when she had somewhat regained her sanity, she immediately gave Dorothy a call.
Dorothy stood where she was, as she listened to Germaine’s trembling and hoarse voice. Her heart suddenly sank, and the forced smile on her face disappeared, replaced with trance and hesitation in her eyes. “Belle is now in Jeremy’s hands.”
“What?”
Germaine was shocked and flustered for a moment. She could not help but hold the cell phone in her hand tightly, and her expression was a little cold. “Dory, I’m in a hospital in the south of the town. Come over. I will hand Belle over, and you’ll take her back.”
The breath lingering in her words was sad and cold. Dorothy was confused and asked, “What about you?”
“Forget about me first. We’ll talk about it after I bring Belle out. Bye.”
It was obvious that Germaine did not want to say anything else. She quickly hung up the phone.
Dorothy thought about it for a long time, but she could not understand. Therefore, she stopped thinking about it. She walked to Credence and repeated Germaine’s words. After that, she asked him, “Since you saved Germaine, do you know what happened to her?”
Credence’s eyebrows knitted together. Knowing Dorothy’s temper, she would definitely blame herself if he told her the truth. It took a while before he spoke, “When we found Germaine, she was knocked unconscious. As for what happened, she should be more clear about it.”
Dorothy suddenly fell silent, and her breathing got heavy. After a long time, she said, “She is waiting for me in the hospital. Please take me there.”
Her attitude suddenly became cold and polite again. Credence did not say anything, but the sense of powerlessness at the bottom of his heart was about to drown him.
He was the one who messed up in the past decade, wasn’t he?
He looked at the angry woman, smiled, and said, “Okay, I’ll be your knight in shining armor this time. I’ll send you over to meet her.”
When Dorothy heard this, she felt soreness and sadness in her chest that were indescribable. She ignored him and walked straight out of the door!
