Credence gave Marvin a meaningful glance. They had cooperated for many years, thus Marvin quickly understood what he meant. He turned towards the other five well-armed men behind him and ordered in a low voice, “Martox, Bedict, to the left; Coman, Reeman, to the right; Edden, follow me and Credence; we’ll attack from the front.”
Through the dim lights from the stars and helicopters in the air, they silently surrounded the stone houses. They shoot on sight anyone coming out.
Very soon, they settled the group of weak thugs.
All seven of them assembled and approached the house at the back, which obviously looked a lot better than the other stone houses.
Martox rushed to the front and kicked the door open. It was dark inside, and not a single person could be seen.
When Marvin saw what was inside, he cursed loudly, “F*ck, we’ve been fooled! Credence, it seems like only Germaine is in here. But where is Belle?”
Credence frowned, as he had a feeling that something was not right. Just as he was about to ask Marvin to save Germaine, a soft female voice traveled to their ears. “Credence, it’s me. Long time no see. I did not expect us to meet in a foreign land. How unexpecting!”
Looking at the woman walking out from the darkness, Credence’s eyes quickly turned malicious and sinister. “Rosalie, if you hand Belle over, I will give you a quick death.”
The man was expressionless. His deep black eyes were darker than black ink. It was dark, and only a cold light remained.
He flicked his slender fingers casually, and a black pistol appeared on his palm. He aimed the black muzzle between Rosalie’s eyebrows and stared at her coldly and mercilessly.
When Rosalie saw him pointing the gun at her without any hesitation, a cold, injured look flashed across her watery eyes. She showed him a bright smile. “Credence, you are really so heartless towards me. But, if you kill me, you won’t be able to live either. Do you know why?
It is because there are explosives planted three feet below this place, and there are lots of them. Enough to reduce the island to shambles.”
“Let’s make a deal. If you let me go, not only will I let you take Germaine away, I will even let all of you leave the island safely. How about that?”
As soon as she finished speaking, an earth-shattering explosion could be heard.
Thick smoke billowed from the houses less than five meters away from them. The tiles on the roof were blasted into pieces and flew across the air. It was razed to the ground within three seconds.
Rosalie’s expressions changed immediately, and the corners of her eyes showed a trace of reluctance, but soon, she laughed, “Credence, I didn’t arrange for the explosives, someone else did. I have never seen his true identity. If you still want to leave safely, please agree to my terms as soon as possible. When Marvin looked towards the direction of the flagpole in the open space in front of him, three sneaky men who were wearing diving suits and about to sneak into the water to escape came into his cold vision. He immediately pulled a long face and shot three bullets.
The three men were immediately killed. Their fat bodies floated on the surface of the water, and their blood dyed the river red.

Martox, Bedict, and the others were already searching for the time bombs. As for Rosalie, Credence had pulled out a sharp dagger and pressed it against her neck. She was so shocked that her entire body was trembling. Even her voice could barely be heard. “Cough cough… Credence, you, don’t kill me first. Keep me alive. I will give you two secrets in exchange!”
“What secret is so valuable that it can be used to exchange your life?” The man approached her inch by inch, anger, and murderous intent could be seen all over his face.
Rosalie blinked, her eyes sparkled with light, and she smiled at Credence seductively. “First, it’s about the true cause of your mother’s death. Second, who Belle’s biological father is.
What do you think, Credence? Are these two secrets enough to exchange my life?”
Credence turned his head to avoid the strong smell of perfume coming from Rosalie’s body. He looked back at her and slowly moved the dagger back a centimeter. After muttering to himself for half a second, his dark eyes grew even colder. “What else do you know?”
“Everything. What I’m supposed to know, what I’m not supposed to.”
Rosalie sensed the bone-chilling feeling on her neck was gone, and she understood that Credence had agreed to her terms. She understood that in the end, Dorothy was still the one he really cared about. Her heart hurt badly and she sighed bitterly, “Credence, if you let me go, you will get the information that you want. It’s fair, isn’t it?
You know me. As long as I don’t want to talk, I won’t even say a single word no matter how badly I’m tortured.”
Marvin frowned and interrupted. “Credence, this woman is cruel and scheming. If she is kept alive, she will only bring more troubles!”
He meant that it was best to shoot her right here and now, so as to not cause more troubles.
Upon hearing this, Credence shook his head heavily and said, “Let her go.”
There was some validity in Rosalie’s words. For the past few years, he held a grudge over the sudden death of his clearly healthy mother. That was why he had gone to join the army at the age when he was supposed to study. He wanted to weaken his longing and guilt for his mother through the pain in his body.
If only he had not gone out to attend his classmate’s birthday party, perhaps his mother would still be alive.

“What about Belle?” Marvin asked.

Credence ignored him. He lowered his head and stared at the mobile phone in his palm, as he waited for Rosalie’s message.
The woman knew his temperament, thus she did not let him wait too long.
