Credence stared at Dorothy’s bright yet cold face. The guilt and affection in his heart collapsed in an instant as if the thousands of degrees of hot lava from a volcano had melted him away.
He did not know the mood in which he had when he witnessed Juelz and her being intimate and kissing each other.
Those 25 days of her disappearance were the most painful blow he had ever experienced. Now, she was kissing Juelz intimately. To him, this was merciless and cruel ridicule.
This man’s heart, which had turned tender and brittle because of her, was starting to break down little by little.
Her kiss with Juelz, the man who was greatly inferior to him, had placed him at the edge of an erupting volcano and was sent down an endless abyss. His blood and bones broke inch by inch, and he was numb from the pain.
He took the cigarette out of his mouth with his fingers and slowly threw it into an ashtray. His icy-cold gaze fell on Dorothy’s face once again. After ten minutes, he finally smiled and laughed in a low and cold voice.
“An eye for an eye? Fine, do you want me to jump down from Talco City’s Bridge as well, or do you want to stab me?”
There was an endless amount of irony in his smile and Dorothy felt a little bit frightened.
Credence walked over and looked at the woman who could barely stand. Out of nowhere, he took out a sharp dagger and forcefully shoved it into Dorothy’s hand, never letting go. Suddenly, he moved to stab himself in between his second and third rib…
That was where his heart was located.
Dorothy watched as the hilt of the knife in her hands pierced into his chest and a dull sound of flesh and blood being cut open could be heard.
In the blink of an eye, a fountain of blood gushed out from Credence’s body. It soaked Dorothy’s fingers, then trickled down her fingertips.
That man’s eyes shone with faint and shattered light. He held her chin as he looked at her with eyes calmer than water. “Everything I’ve ever owed you, I can repay them one stab at a time, until you are no longer angry at me. How’s that?”
A moment later, a cold breath that only belonged to him surrounded Dorothy’s. He held her arm tightly and stabbed himself an inch deeper until his face got pale from excessive blood loss. Then, he stopped his action and looked down at her. He said with a chuckle, “Are you satisfied now?”
“Credence… Have you gone insane?”
Dorothy screamed. She had long forgotten about Juelz, and her focus was now on the bloody wound on the man in front of her. Her eyes were blood red due to the dark red blood oozing out of his chest. She suddenly released her right hand that had been holding the knife and shouted at him with tears in the corner of her eyes, “Credence, don’t think that I’ll easily forgive you just because you hurt yourself like this. These tricks are useless against me. I’m telling you, I won’t forgive you, I won’t, I will never forgive you!”
She had experienced four whole years of an emotionally abusive marriage, and her life was worse than hell. He did not trust her even the slightest. He had even mercilessly taken away the child in her womb. He cooperated with Rosalie time and time again to harm her.
Did he think he could make things even just by stabbing himself?
When he knew Dorothy wasn’t going to forgive him, Credence looked down at her expressionlessly. He would sneer coldly from time to time, causing the wound in his chest to continue to bleed. However, he did not care about it at all. Even his smile was pale and cold.
“Then, what should I do? Dorothy, do I have to kill myself to make you forgive me?”
“Why would I want your life?”
Dorothy’s eyes were filled with tears of sorrow. She closed her eyes anxiously and then opened them again. She raised her head and said, “Credence, you are doing this right in front of me only because you knew I loved you!
Too bad you are wrong. I am no longer that Dorothy from four years ago, who loved you so much despite being hurt all over. That Dorothy had fallen into the icy cold Talco River and died.
So, don’t you dare pressure me. Don’t use your life to threaten me!”
“That’s not what I meant. I really want to atone for all my sins!”
He looked up and smiled gently at Dorothy. Suddenly, he closed his complex eyes and his vision went dark.
Everything between Dorothy and Credence happened so fast that not even Jonathan and Juelz had time to respond to it at all.
It was not until the man’s body fell heavily on the floor and made an earthshaking loud noise that Jonathan came back to his senses. In a trance, he called Marvin, who was still drinking in the private room. He trembled and screamed, “Marv, where are you? Come out and help send Credence to the hospital!
What the f*ck, I think I’ve just seen a ghost. Credence met Dorothy, who has come back from the dead, and he was mesmerized by this ghost. He stabbed himself in his heart with a knife.”
“D*mn it, Credence is probably going to die. Love really kills!”
The scene was in utter chaos as Jonathan complained bitterly.
In less than five seconds, Marvin rushed over. When he saw Dorothy, he squinted and stared at her for a while. He raised his eyebrows coldly and kept silent. He and Jonathan quickly picked up the soulless man painfully lying on the ground and hurriedly left.
“Are you f*cking dead? Why did you let Credence act on his own?”
Marvin walked so fast that it seemed like he was flying. He scolded Jonathan and even had an urge to kill him.
Jonathan’s legs went weak and he complained, “I’m helpless too, Marv. I didn’t provoke anyone and yet I had to witness a bloody disaster.
You weren’t there. You didn’t see Credence’s expression when he saw Dorothy. He was like a hungry wolf finally seeing prey. His eyes were shining. Would I dare go up and stop him from reuniting with Dorothy?
Who knew that Dorothy would hate Credence and everything he has done to her in the past few years. Not only did she flirt with that b*stard Juelz in front of him, she even said that she would never forgive him and something about an eye for an eye.”
“After that, Credence pulled out a knife out of nowhere and stabbed his own heart. He asked if it was enough if he gave his life to Dorothy.”
Hearing this, Marvin understood the ins and outs of the matter and knew that it was not Jonathan’s fault. He lowered his head and glanced at the wound on Credence’s chest. There was an obscure expression on his face.
“Alright, you can shut up now! Let’s take Credence to the hospital as soon as possible.”
…
There was such a big commotion in the corridor, the head of the club came very soon. He looked upset and was about to scold Dorothy who was in a trance. However, Juelz pulled him to the side and used a large sum of money to keep his mouth shut, and agreed to clear the surveillance footage of everything that had just happened.
Not long after, several middle-aged cleaners, who were under the order of the head of the club, brought a bucket and a mop. They wiped away the stains in the corridor together.
Only a faint smell of blood lingered in the air. Everything else was erased, and nothing could be found.
It was as if nothing had happened at all.
Dorothy’s eyes were still fixed on the white tile with cyan patterns where Credence had left his bloodstain. Her eyes were a little distracted. “Juelz, do you think I’ve gone too far?”
Ever since Credence appeared, Juelz had been overlooked by Dorothy for such a long time. She finally remembered his existence. Juelz lowered his head and followed her gaze. His eyes were dark and dead. He slowly raised his head and laughed at himself tiredly. “Dory, if I were you, I wouldn’t care how I treated him, because I don’t love him!”
After a pause, he noticed the nervousness in her eyes. Credence had long been in her heart and soul. He licked his pale and dry lips and sighed as he asked, “Dory, you should ask yourself, do you still love that man or not? Will you be able to ignore all of him even if he hates you and hurts you in the future?”
