Chapter 176 Failure

Book:My Husband Hates Me Published:2024-5-1

Early in the morning one weekend, Dorothy noticed that they had almost finished all the food in the refrigerator and planned to take Belle to shop at a nearby supermarket. When she opened the door, she was shocked to meet Germaine.
With a bang, Germaine hurriedly closed the door.
Her actions made Dorothy even more shocked.
She raised her head and saw Germaine holding on to her fiery-red handbag. She was panting and almost out of breath as she said, “Dory, this is bad. This is really bad.”
Dorothy was so surprised that she almost threw away the phone in her hand. She quickly pulled Germaine to the sofa to sit down. She took out a bottle of chilled juice from the refrigerator and stuffed it into her mouth. Pursing her lips, she asked anxiously, “What happened? Tell me everything slowly.”
Germaine unscrewed the lid and gulped down most of the drink. Finally, she felt much cooler. She sat Belle on her lap and played with her for a while. After that, she pursed her lips and began to talk furiously.
After that, she pursed her lips and began to talk furiously, “Dory, you don’t know how cruel Credence, that son of a b*tch, really is!”
“What did he do this time?”
Dorothy’s heart skipped a beat, and her clear and complicated gaze was firmly fixed on Germaine’s face, waiting for her to go on.
Not letting her wait too long, Germaine took a deep breath, her beautiful face flushed filled with anger. Her voice was crisp and cold as she said, “Juelz is about to be ruined by Credence! Scott Group has been pressuring J&D Group with great efforts, and their stock price is declining every single day. Everyone in the company is panicking. All the other companies who had signed a contract with us want to terminate them. They would rather pay the fines than continue the cooperation… F*ck, if this goes on, Juelz might have to close the company and let the Sherman family go bankrupt!”
“Is it really that serious?”
Dorothy was struck stunned for a long time, as it was difficult for her to accept the reality that such a terrible thing had happened.
Juelz had founded J&D Group six years ago. She had watched it grow from a small studio with only Juelz in it to a huge company with thousands of staff. It had grown rapidly and had become a listed company in such a short amount of time.
Juelz had spent so much time and energy on the company. If it really collapsed, then that would really be a fatal blow to him.
As she thought of that, Dorothy could not help but feel worried.
What on earth had happened during the time when she left Talco City? Why did Credence want to eradicate Juelz like that?
Dorothy frowned, and could not help but voice her questions out loud. Germaine looked up at the ceiling and rolled her eyes. She pouted and snorted coldly, “What other reason could there be? It’s because you slept with Credence that night. You hurt his dignity and embarrassed him!”
“He couldn’t find another way to vent his anger, so he vented it all on Juelz. F*ck, he is not a gentleman at all.”
“It’s been six years. I really didn’t expect his temper to stay the same.”
Upon hearing her words, Dorothy was so livid that her face flushed red, her watery eyes almost bursting into flames. Even her breathing was filled with small wisps of anger.
“What the hell was wrong with him?! If he had any grudges, he should have just come at her. What rights did he have to destroy Juelz’s company like that?” she thought to herself.
Was he trying to show off his capabilities?
Dorothy felt so annoyed that she felt a huge urge to rush up to Credence and slap him in the face twice.
In the end, she still held a grudge against him!
Why did she have to be responsible for Belle and raise her up so tirelessly, all alone for the past six years, just because he had lost his memories? Did he not have to bear any responsibilities just because of that?
In order to not disrupt Credence’s relationship with Rosalie and cause unnecessary troubles, she had secretly tried to conceive another child with Credence to save Belle’s life. Why did he have to go so far?
She was the one who had insisted on giving birth to Belle and the one who had wanted to raise Belle alone willingly. Those were all choices that she made herself, so she reaped what she sowed. She could not blame anyone else, not even Credence.
However, in the end, she was just an ordinary girl. She had the capacity to get jealous and sad too, even break down whenever Belle got sent to the emergency room due to her illness.
Why did she have to be the one who was suffering through everything, yet he could still live peacefully and even plan on marrying Rosalie?
He could have married anyone, but he had chosen to marry that f*cking b*tch Rosalie. Why on earth would he do that?
There was a split second where Dorothy had the urge to reveal Belle’s identity to Credence. She wanted to see if he could still continue to live so freely and comfortably.
“Mommy, why are you crying? Is it because your eyes hurt? Don’t cry, don’t cry. I’ll blow on them for you so that it won’t hurt anymore.”
Hearing Belle’s soft and caring voice, Dorothy came back to her senses and turned around. She saw how anxious her daughter was till her face was covered with sweat. Belle was puffing up her cheeks as she blew on Dorothy’s face.
“Belle, I’m not crying. Something just flew into my eyes. That’s why they’re red.”
Dorothy shook her head in self-mockery and shook off all the irrational thoughts she just had. She took Belle from Germaine’s arms and held her in her own. Her eyes were full of tenderness as she spoke to Belle, “Mommy’s decided that I’ll bring you home to see Juelz. Are you happy?”
“Really? That’s great! Mommy, I haven’t seen Juelz for so long. I miss him so much!”
Belle was so overjoyed that she stretched her two small hands out, hugged Dorothy’s neck tightly, and kissed her face. Dorothy was so happy that she kissed her twice, too.
Every time she landed in a bad mood or felt any pressure, she would be motivated to stand up and continue to fight one whenever she saw her precious Belle’s affections.
Before she left, Dorothy settled the rent with the landlord and took Belle and Germaine to the hospital nearby.
It had been almost a full month since she had slept with Credence. She wanted to undergo an examination to see if she had gotten pregnant or not.
The doctor advised her to do an ultrasound to get a more precise result.
Dorothy complied with the doctor’s suggestion.
She sat on a chair in the corridor and drank two or three bottles of mineral water in a row before slowly walking into the examination room. By that time, her bladder had grown unbearable and her stomach was bloated.
Germaine waited outside as she looked after Belle and their luggage.
Half an hour later, Dorothy sat opposite the doctor, holding a thin piece of paper. Her face was even paler than the snow-white paper in her hand.
“Doctor, I’m sorry. I don’t quite understand what you’re saying. Could you please repeat your words?”
The doctor frowned and looked a little impatient. Just as he was about to say something, he looked up and saw Dorothy’s exceptionally miserable appearance, as if she was going to burst into tears in the next second. The impatience in his heart disappeared in an instant.
He calmly looked at her and said, “The conclusion of the report is in the last section. You can look at it first. If you still don’t understand anything, you can consult me later.”
Upon hearing the doctor’s words, Dorothy lowered her head and flattened the medical report in her hand. Her eyes swept over the line of words, her whole body beginning to tremble violently. Her face suddenly went deathly pale, devoid of any color.
She had not gotten pregnant.
Failure had arrived when they least expected it!
