Chapter 169 Unscrupulous Means

Book:My Husband Hates Me Published:2024-5-1

Marvin had to admit that although his father was old and his mind was not that sharp, his taste for women was still as sharp as the one he had had in his younger days.
With just one glance, he had taken a fancy to Credence’s ex-wife, Dorothy. That alone was enough to make her his daughter-in-law. What great taste he had!
He could not help but send a reply to George.
[Dad, can you stop messing around? The woman you have your eyes on is Credence’s ex-wife.]
George had probably been startled by the stark revelations of Dorothy’s identity as he stopped sending any messages laced with harassing intent.
Marvin laughed a few times and showed the photo on his phone in Credence’s face. “Credence, my dad’s so muddle-headed. He set his eyes on Dorothy and wanted the two of us to get into a relationship. If she wasn’t your ex-wife, my dad would have dragged her into the presidential suite long ago and tricked me into sleeping with her.”
Jonathan came up and said, “Marv, if you dare to touch brother Credence’s woman, you’re as good as dead.”
Credence pressed his thin lips tightly. Gently, he lifted his eyes and looked at Dorothy’s photo. Suddenly, he felt a brief sense of confusion flash across his eyes. However, he soon recovered and returned to his senses, assuming the coldness and indifference once more as he stared at Dorothy’s face.
After a long, long time, he showed a slight smile, “Oh, hooking up with Juelz is not enough for her, so now she wants to hook up with other men too?”
To put it bluntly, this so-called business event was actually a disguised blind dating spot.
All the guests were all single men and women. As soon as two of them hit it off, arms would be wrapped around each other, and doors to the hotel room would be opened.
Dorothy had appeared in front of him time and time again. Did she think she could prey on another powerful and successful man without his approval?
Jonathan shook his head and mysteriously brought up his theory, “That’s quite impossible. Dorothy isn’t such a woman. I don’t think her purpose here this time is to find an old fellow to hook up with.”
He always had a feeling that everything Dorothy did revolved around Credence.
However, considering the fact that Credence was treating Dorothy as an eyesore, Jonathan swallowed down his words and realized that he must not anger Credence, or he might be sent flying out the window. By then, if he was not dead, he would at least lose a limb or two.
However, as soon as his chatterbox’s switch was turned on, Jonathan’s words were like a train hurtling at max speed, passing through a landmine that was Credence, “Credence, what kind of illness are you talking about? Are you saying that you can’t get a boner around Rosalie? Jesus Christ, then how did you handle your desires for the past six years?”
“Holy sh*t, Credence, don’t hit me, not on the face. I’m just curious, and I’m not the only one, Marv is also curious…”
Tilting his head, Credence gulped the wine down his throat. Not so much as moving his brows, he scoffed, “Pervert! Your brain is full of those NSFW scenes, don’t you? Can’t you fill them with more wholesome things?”
Did Credence mean that he was good-for-nothing?
He could even scold people without uttering a single bad word at all, maintaining his elegance. Credence really was awesome. No wonder he was on the top of the list of bachelors that women wanted to bag in Talco City.

Germaine’s reputation in the past had been tarnished, so she constantly felt awkward whenever she ran into people she knew. She deliberately pulled Dorothy to a remote corner, took some drinks, fruits and pastries, stuffing them into her mouth. Keeping her vigilance on other men present, she mainly kept an eye out for Credence’s whereabouts.
However, her gaze had swept across all the men present, either old or young or middle-aged, but there was no sign of Credence at all.
She grew a little annoyed, “Darn it, I had a reliable source. Credence was here and he had even greeted everyone present. Where the hell has he gone now?”
Dorothy was equally anxious, but Germaine was not to blame for Credence’s disappearance. She suppressed her anxiety and smiled at her, “If we can’t find him tonight, we’ll try again next time. As long as we don’t get discouraged, our third time will be the charm.”
“No! I promised you that you would solve your problem today, so you must! Watch me. Just sit here and wait. I’ll go and find someone to ask about the situation.”
Even with her short fuse, Germaine was someone who kept her word at all cost. She immediately threw away the food in her hands, grabbed a piece of tissue and wiped her lips clean. Charmingly, she waltzed across the magnificent hall in her ten-centimeter high heels, and then went into the server’s resting area.
A man as rich and as powerful as Credence, who rivaled even countries in wealth, must have had unparalleled service no matter where he was.
Everything from wine to other delicacies were being sent into the room by the servers.
Therefore, the surefire way to know his whereabouts was to ask the servers.
Sure enough, after Germaine produced a large stack of cash notes as a reward, she soon got the information she wanted from a server.
Germaine returned to Dorothy with a triumphant smile on her face and handed over the things in her hand, “Dory, I heard that Credence is in Room 1606 on the top floor. Here’s the room card.”
“Can I succeed just by going in like that?”
Dorothy nodded, then shook her head again. She calmly analyzed, “He has completely forgotten about me now. I am nothing but a stranger to him. If he’s sober, he’ll definitely treat me as a lunatic and throw me out. It doesn’t matter if I fail this time, but it would be even more difficult for me to successfully bear his child next time.”
“Germaine, you don’t know how important Belle is to me. She is my light, she is everything to me. I am willing to sacrifice myself to save Belle.”
“So, it’s either go big or go home for me!”
“Alright, I know what to do next. Dory, relax, I will make sure that you succeed in one try.”
Germaine left her seat and found the same server who had just given her the information. She procured another large sum of money, pushing the server to do something unlawful for her.
All she wanted was to reach her goals, and she did not mind doing unscrupulous things to achieve them!
The waiter brought three or four bottles of excellent wine into Room 1606. Germaine secretly hid in the corridor and pricked up her ears, and through the unlatched door, she listened to the sounds coming from inside.
She heard Jonathan laughing and joking, “Credence, to be honest, women are like clothes, and our buddies are like limbs. Women can be thrown away instantly, but buddies are indispensable. Bro’s before ho’s. So, I’ll tell you this right now. Even if I marry a wife in the future, you and Marv will still be the most important people in my heart…”
“Credence, come on, bottoms up. I’ve seen countless women in the past years. I can tell at a glance if they’re sincere towards me. So, I always think Dorothy is a good woman, dyed-in-the-wool with her feelings and loyalty. Credence, it’s true that you went too far, causing that much sh*t to happen that year!”
Marvin shouted, “Jonathan, just drink your wine in silence, would ya? Why must you spill so much bullsh*t out of your mouth? I’ll beat you up if you continue to talk like that!”
That other man in the room remained silent. Credence stayed quiet and only looked up, sipping his wine.
Judging from the color of the wine, Germaine could tell that it was the one she had instructed the waiter to bring in.
Her eyes narrowed as she vaguely watched the scene unfold and felt a secret burst of joy in her heart. She quietly pulled her head back and walked to a different exit, waiting for the waiter to come out and give her his reply.
