“I’m her godfather. Is there anything wrong with that?”
After Juelz finished his meeting, he realized that he had over two dozen missed calls from Dorothy. He thought that something urgent had happened, so he pushed away a lot of important contracts that needed to be signed. Upon rushing to the ward, he happened to hear Jonathan’s questioning. He was worried that Germaine, who had a direct personality, would blurt out the truth in the spur of the moment, so he quickly gave an answer.
Jonathan pinched his cigarette, and smiled as if he was watching a good show. “So, you’re just a godfather. We don’t have a problem with that, absolutely no problem at all.”
At first glance, it sounded like there really wasn’t anything wrong with the matter. However, after giving it a second thought, it seemed like there was a hidden meaning in his words.
However, Jonathan was not the star of the show, and Juelz’s focus was not on him at all. He only glared at him for a few seconds before he turned around and looked at Germaine, signaling for her to carry Belle into the room. He then closed the door of the ward.
After Germaine took Belle into the ward, Juelz’s worries lessened. He raised his head and puffed out his chest, looking at Credence bravely. He raised his eyebrows evilly and changed the topic, seeming a little sad.
“Six years ago, all of you knew Dory got pregnant with my child. However, the child had been in poor health, so we could only get rid of it. Due to that fact, Dory cried every single day until her eyes almost fell out.”
“Later, in order to make up for the regrets we had, the two of us discussed artificial insemination to allow Dory to have another cute child. With that, her child, Belle, was born, and she is our lovely daughter.”
Juelz looked like he was having a perfect life, but Jonathan did not take too much offense. At most, he only felt a little jealous.
However, in Credence’s eyes, for some reason, he was a little taken aback, and it was difficult for him to quell his inner emotions.
This ex-wife of his had cheated on him during their marriage, yet she was able to live peacefully until now. He had not even taken a cruel revenge on her, so it was highly likely that he was the one at fault, not her.
With his vengeful character, if Dorothy had really betrayed him, he would never have let her live peacefully until now.
So, what had gone wrong?
Jonathan quickly caught the most crucial part of his speech, “Since the child is gone, you could have had another baby with Dorothy. Why did you need to undergo artificial insemination?”
“The answer’s very simple. My sperm count is low!”
Juelz did not think that this was embarrassing. Instead, he felt that he had the upper hand. Out of the corner of his eye, he gave Credence a look of disdain. He turned around, opened the door and walked in. With a bang, he slammed the door shut.
Dory was destined to be his woman for the rest of her life. No one could take her from him. He would kill anyone that got in his way!

“Credence, Credence, what’s wrong with you?”
Jonathon’s snarky voice rang in his ears. Credence snapped out of his deep contemplation. He lowered his eyes and stared at him as he asked, “Are you hiding anything from me?”
“I’m so honest with you, Credence, I don’t even have to wear my underwear in front of you. What can I hide from you? I’m so timid that I wouldn’t dare hide anything from you!”
Facing this indifferent man who was suddenly scolding him, Jonathan almost wanted to cry and express his loyalty.
He frowned and suddenly asked, “What do you think of Rosalie?”
“Sh-she’s very good, she’s great! She’s gentle, beautiful, virtuous and generous. She treats you well with all her heart. She would arrive the moment you summon her. Even I would want a good wife like that!”
Back then, he had been beaten up by Credence for talking bad things about Rosalie in front of Credence. He learned from that experience to always sing insincere praises about Rosalie enthusiastically.
He had no idea what was wrong with Credence after the car accident. He was disgusted with Dorothy, but became protective of Rosalie.
However, when Rosalie wanted to sleep with Credence, he would not budge no matter how hard she tried. He was not inclined to sleep with that woman at all. How strange.
With Jonathan’s poor thinking capacity, it was impossible for him to figure out what had happened as it was beyond his imagination. He could only conclude it as the heavens wanting to punish Credence for climbing to the peak of wealth and power so effortlessly.
Credence fell deep in thought. He glanced at Jonathan, and knew that he was lying. He turned around and left without saying anything.
At the same time, inside the large ward.
Juelz saw Dorothy’s pale and haggard face and asked Germaine about the details. When he learned that Dorothy had suddenly fainted because of severe depression, he grew quite distressed.
He tried his best to make himself stronger in order to protect her as he did not want her to get hurt anymore.
However, no matter how strong he became, he wasn’t fast enough to stop her from getting hurt.
“D*mned Credence, that b*stard. I’m going to give him a good slap sooner or later!”
Belle raised her head and stared at him seriously with her big blue eyes, “Juelz, you’re cursing. When Mommy wakes up, I’ll tell her.”
Juelz was not afraid of anything. What he feared most was Belle’s complaining to Dorothy. He quickly squatted down and begged for mercy in a low voice, “Good little Belle, my good baby, it’s my fault. Don’t tell mommy. I promise, it won’t happen again.”
Germaine almost bent down with a smile too, “Tsk, tsk. Look at how cowardly you are. Don’t tell anyone that you know me when you’re outside. You’ll embarrass me.”
Belle giggled and scratched her tender face with her little finger. She giggled and said, “Shame on you, Juelz.”
They joked and teased, and Dorothy was awakened from the noise.
She opened her eyes in a daze. She had fainted, so she had no idea what happened in the ward at all.
After being stunned for quite a while, Dorothy finally saw the three of them playing together. Moving her pale lips, she asked softly, “I was fine when I came to visit Belle. Why am I on the bed right now?”
Germaine was just about to speak when Juelz quickly said, “It’s not a big deal. It’s just that I put too much pressure on you in the company during this period of time, and you got too tired. I’m sorry, my dear Dory. In the future, I will treat you like a god in the company from now on. You can eat and drink well, and I guarantee that you will gain ten pounds by the next month.”
He glanced at her maliciously, and winked at her, constantly teasing Dorothy.
Did he still have any conscience at all? How could he tease a patient on her sickbed?!
Dorothy quickly turned her head to the other side, looking at the snow-white wall, and refusing to look at Juelz in the eye.
A few days later, Dorothy and Belle were discharged from the hospital together. For the sake of her daughter’s safety, they did not send her to kindergarten again. Instead, they left her at home, and let Germaine take care of her first. They would free Germaine from her current job after they found a suitable nanny.
She remembered that the doctor had mentioned that Belle would only be alive for at most a year and a half if she did not receive the right bone marrow.
Dorothy pulled herself together, abandoned all the distracting thoughts in the mind, and focused her efforts to try to extract a small jar of blood from Credence’s body to do a bone marrow compatibility test.
The most difficult part of her plan was getting blood from Credence’s body.
One faithful day, Dorothy’s dream opportunity finally came!
