When Dorothy came to her senses, she recalled the path she took, and started walking her way back to the private room that Germaine had booked.
As she was walking, she heard Juelz’s worried voice, “Dory, I’ve been looking for you for so long, but I couldn’t find you. Where were you?”
When he got close to her, he noticed how drenched Dorothy was, and his eyes were filled with anger. He said angrily, “Tell me, who the f*ck bullied you?”
“No, no one bullied me.”
Seeing the furious look on his face, Dorothy quickly grabbed his arm and smiled helplessly, “I just happened to meet Credence.”
Upon meeting him, he had completely forgotten about her. He only saw her as a girl who had bad intentions. He had mercilessly thrown her into the bathtub, and had splashed cold water on her to wake her up.
She had been humiliated so badly, so of course she was angry.
However, for the sake of her daughter’s recovery, what else could she do?
Even if Credence was angry at her, even if he despised her, and even humiliated her, the only thing she could do was suppress all those negative emotions, and shamelessly try to get closer and closer to him over and over again.

Juelz felt his heart clench, bittnerness spreading across his every fibre.
He wasn’t able to process his emotions just yet, so he quickly took off his jacket and gently put it over Dorothy’s shoulders. He then gently asked her in a hoarse voice, “Dory, if you still like Credence and can’t forget him, then go find him, help him retrieve all of his lost memories. Do it for Belle, do it for yourself. Give yourself a complete home, I…”
“I’m fine.”
That’s right, as long as she was happy, he would be fine. Nothing else mattered at all!
In the first half of his life, he had lived in the Sherman family who favored business over everything else. He saw how every single one of his family members had conspired against each other for money and interests; he had witnessed the ugliest and dirtiest parts of the human heart. He had long since lost all sense of conscience and kindness. He did not want to hurt others, nor did he want to be hurt; he just wanted to indulge himself in happiness for the rest of his life.
When he had encountered his loved ones’ plot against him when he had laid in his own pool of blood, he had been sent to the hospital by Dorothy, who had just happened to pass by. Dorothy was still a scared young girl back then, yet she still stubbornly tried to save his life. At that moment, he knew that she was his only salvation; she was the beam of light that had dragged him out of the dark.
As long as she was happy, he was willing to do anything for her. He wouldn’t even hesitate to throw away his empire of wealth, or his life.
“Juelz, are you drunk as well?”
Dorothy pushed him a few times, and wrapped the jacket around her body tightly. She felt that there must be something wrong with Juelz. She raised her head and looked at him, “Don’t you know the reason behind why I went to Credence? Or do you think I’m someone who will forget about the pain after my scars have healed?”
“I love him, and even now, I still can’t forget about him, but it doesn’t mean that I will go back to him. He has hurt me over and over again. Although my wounds have healed, there are still scars that remind me of the pain that he has inflicted upon me. Do you think that I can continue to be with him as if nothing has happened?”

Upon hearing her words, Juelz’s smile returned to his face. He said, “Yes, you’re right. You can’t go back to your past. Dory, I really like you and your tough attitude.”
“Screw you. What do you mean by ‘tough attitude’?”
Dorothy pretended to be displeased, and nudged her elbow against his abdomen.
Juelz hurriedly held his stomach and begged for mercy. “Dory, please spare my life. I wasn’t talking about you. I was talking about Germaine. Yes, she is the one with a tough attitude.”
The two of them argued as they returned to the private room where the party was. Everyone who had come here to drink had almost left, and only Germaine was left. There was a bottle of alcohol in her hands as she gulped it down.
A tall and handsome man stood before her with a calm and indifferent face. He stood in the shadows, like an emperor who dominated the dark night. He was staring at Germaine coldly as she continued to down the alcohol with his eyes cold and emotionless.
Dorothy was surprised. “W-who is he?” she wondered to herself.
He was indeed handsome, but he was too cold, as if he had walked out from the depths of hell.
When Juelz saw the man, he immediately pulled both Germaine and Dorothy behind him. He shouted, “Jeremy, why don’t you f*cking stay in your territory? What are you doing here?”
He would never forget that rainy day from seventeen years ago. Had he not escaped from the dark sewer, he would have been killed by this ruthless cousin of his, and he would not even have emerged out of the situation with his body intact.
Germaine was already drunk out of her mind, and she was immersed in her own world. Apart from mechanically filling the wine, she could not hear or see anything.
“I’m just here to see how both you and her are doing.”
Jeremy nodded lightly, and his voice was cold and ruthless. He said, “The Sherman family is the same as Gordan. On the surface, he may look glorious, but in fact, its roots have long gone rotten. Don’t think that a mere J&D Group and a mere doctor can keep the Sherman family alive. If both of you can’t support it, why don’t you let me destroy it now? Once everything is over, everyone will be set free.”
Although he looked elegant and handsome, Dorothy could smell the strong scent of blood from him.
He must have killed many people before. His hands were stained with many lives, and he seemed like a man who drank the blood of his enemies. Although he held no weapons in his hands, he was still scary and frightening.

The only reply that Juelz received after his angry roaring was Jeremy’s sneer, “Winner takes all. That has always been the case. If you anger me, then I will make it impossible for you to leave this room tonight, and my threat includes her!”
The way he looked at Dorothy was way different from when he looked at Juelz.
It was filled with disgust, resentfulness, yet mixed with hesitation.
As she met Jeremy’s complicated gaze, Dorothy paused. She stood still and tried her best to keep herself calm.
She was sure that this was her first time meeting him, despite the fact that Germaine had talked about him countless times before. The emotions in his eyes were extremely odd, and it seemed like he had known her for a long time. However, it also felt like he had malicious intent towards her.
