Dorothy raised her head and latched her eyes on Credence’s handsome face. The painful expression due to her knocked nose remained fixed.
When she saw his deep eyes and the disdain towards her, she went completely out of breath at that instant.
Trembling, she rebuked, both amused and bristling, “Why would I be stalking you? Mr. Scott, you came from the opposite direction, so why did you assume I was following you?”
She knew that for the sake of Belle’s health, she had to speak respectfully and nicely towards him. However, he was downright convinced that she was just trying to hit on him, which caused a searing pain in Dorothy’s heart.
She could not help but think of their four-year marriage. She had been willing to sacrifice so much for him, yet the only thing she got in return was endless pain and despair.
Since her kindness could not be exchanged for equal affection, why did she have to make things difficult for herself?
Credence’s cold gaze landed on her fair face for two seconds before moving away in the blink of an eye. He smiled in a mocking manner and stared at her coldly, “So, you’re Dorothy?”
Her appearance and figure were decent, but she looked frazzled. Was she really the woman Jonathan had babbled on about, his alleged ex-wife?
Dorothy felt uncomfortable under his sharp gaze, like the few times that she had been naked in front of him. She quietly took two steps back and distanced herself from him. With it came a sense of security, and she forced herself to calm down for a few seconds. She soothed, “Credence, I’ve heard about your car accident. I won’t blame you for forgetting about me. After all, we divorced six years ago, and we have had nothing to do with each other for a long, long time.”
“On the day of our divorce, I said that I would never see you again. Breaking that promise was my mistake, but I really have my own difficulties.”
“Don’t worry. After this matter is settled, I will leave Talco City, and I will never disturb you again. I won’t come between your happiness with Rosalie ever again.”
Credence lowered his eyes, boring into hers. Narrowing them, he brought the cigarette clamped between his fingers to his lips and took a few drags from it.
Fogged by the white clouds of smoke, his cold and stern facial features were hazy. Visible in an instant then obscured in the next, it was difficult to decipher the expressions on his face.
He was expressionless throughout the process.
Dorothy had no idea what was on his mind. She stood straight-backed and looked into Credence’s eyes, “Credence, I’m telling you the truth. With your abilities, as long as you send someone to conduct an investigation, you’ll be able to find out about everything soon.”
Credence asked coldly, “If you really are my ex-wife, why did you leave me?”
His question was straight to the point.
She stammered, “I… ”
Dorothy was dumbfounded by his question.
Could she say that she had been determined to leave him because he had hurt her too much?
Although that was the truth, he had lost his memories and would never believe her one-sided words so easily.
On the other hand, in order to have a quick divorce, she had put on a show with Juelz. Not only had she ‘cheated’ on him with Juelz, but she also had a close relationship with him and was pregnant with his child.
His dignity had been thoroughly trampled by that, which had led to his agreement to the divorce.
Was she supposed to tell him the truth?
However, even if she confessed the truth, would he believe her?
No matter what, Dorothy felt that she was just bumping into a dead end. Any answer would be wrong no matter how she put it.
“You can’t continue your lies?”
So what if she was his ex-wife?
Since he had forgotten her, it meant that he had not valued this woman at all. The other possibility was that she had been unfaithful and disloyal to him. She had left him for another man, and that was the reason why a cat got her tongue after a few questions.
Credence started to feel bored and did not want to argue with her anymore, “I don’t care what your purpose is, but don’t ever let me see you again!”
After pausing for a while, he frowned and took a drag on his cigarette, his face cold and impatient. He threatened, “Otherwise, I wouldn’t mind solving this problem using the law!”
He wanted to solve this problem through legal means?
Did he want to send her to prison again?
Dorothy got angry and gritted her teeth hard. The moment the man turned around to leave, she suddenly grabbed his toned arm which had been covered by his black shirt. Her smile was charming, but her face was cold as she asked, “Credence, what should I do to make you trust me?”
He turned around. His serious facial features seemed to be covered with a layer of frost, and every inch of his facial features was lined with bone-chilling iciness.
He stared at this impertinent woman in front of him with a faint smile, and replied, “I believe that we must have had a divorce because of you hooking around with men.”
“In the future, stay away from me. The further you are, the better!”
The draftiness in his eyes made a chill run through Dorothy’s bones.
Looking at his cold and loathing expression, she was choked with sobs. Every word she had wanted to say got stuck in her throat, and she could not utter a single one out.
Credence stopped looking at her, as he did not want to waste any more time. He turned around and walked away in huge strides, disappearing from Dorothy’s sight in the blink of an eye.

At the entrance of the beverage shop, a low profile black car was parked. A woman sat languidly in the driver’s seat. Through the small gap by the rolled-down window, she witnessed Dorothy and Credence’s encounter. In the end, Credence was extremely unhappy as he pushed Dorothy away, without turning back. This greatly pleased her, and her jealousy and hatred towards Dorothy were appeased.
It seemed like Dorothy, who had returned to Talco City after six years of disappearance, was still deeply detested by Credence. There was no longer a need to fear her anymore.
As long as the weapon that she had held in her hands all these years did not carelessly fall into Credence’s hands, Dorothy would never have a chance to win him back.
Strong and dominant men all had only one persistent requirement towards women, and that was for her to maintain a clean and pure body for him.
Dorothy, whose body had been sullied by her own sordid act, could never win Credence’s heart as she had done six years ago!
At the thought of that, the woman removed her luxury-branded sunglasses, took her mobile phone out, and made a phone call, “It’s me. Follow my previous arrangements and carry it out immediately.”
After hanging up the phone, she smiled, a pure smile that was full of viciousness.
At that moment, Dorothy was sitting in the beverage shop. She sat under an air-conditioner and devoured a few big cups of vanilla ice cream. She did not notice the woman in the car staring at her for a long time, until the car left.
All of her attention was concentrated on Credence’s cold and heartless sentence-‘In the future, stay away from me. The further you are, the better!’
Did he hate her so much that the impact from the car accident had allowed his mind to choose to seal away all his memories about her?
Was it because she had pretended to cheat in their marriage that he loathed her to the core?
Did he, despite losing his memories, hate her so much that he despised all contact with her?
Dorothy rested the cold drink down and quietly shook her head while chuckling.
She told herself that she had to put the past behind her, and there should be no indulging in the thoughts of her past, for it would only add to her already lost list of troubles.
She was too ashamed to approach him again, and she had only done so for the sake of Belle’s health.
It would be fine. If she stopped loving him, then she would be spared from the pain.
After staying in a trance for a long time, Dorothy suddenly heard her ringtone blare.
She took out her phone and stared at the screen. It was Juelz who had called her.
She shook her head and answered the call. After listening to Juelz’s words, her initially desolate eyes suddenly lit up.
When one door closes, another opens!
She never thought that she would have a chance to get close to Credence again, but a new opportunity had now arrived!
