Chapter 129 The Huge Change

Leaning languidly in the passenger’s seat, Dorothy felt her child’s naughty movements in her belly as she talked to Juelz about leaving the city.
She rolled down the car windows and enjoyed the cool breeze of the autumn wind blowing on her face. The animated Juelz was also making gestures on the map to figure out where they were going to relocate.
While they were talking and joking around, none of them noticed a black car following them from behind. Ivana, geared up in full uniform, sat in the co-pilot’s seat, donning a pair of sunglasses that covered half of her face while listening to Dorothy and Juelz’s conversation. She gently tapped on the steering wheel and fell into deep thought.
Juelz finally helped Dorothy determine her final destination. He took an object out and handed it to Dorothy with a smile, “Dory, take this. It’s a rosary I got from a church for you. It’s a prayer so that your child can live a good life in the future, and we won’t ever have to come to such a gloomy place like prison ever again.”
“Ah, thank you, Juelz.”
Dorothy nodded with a smile, looking straight ahead with a gentle look in her eyes. Although her future was still unclear at that moment, she was still teeming with expectations about it.
Even if the whole world had abandoned her, she would still have her child. She would also still have Juelz and Germaine to take care of her. They were the people who could give her confidence and courage to brave those difficulties in the future.
“Dory, none of those pleasantries, please. I’m willing to do everything for you.”
Juelz drove the car excitedly. They did not drive to Talco City. Instead, he sped towards the airport in the suburbs.
Elation got the better of him, and he lost all his vigilance, not even noticing a pair of quiet eyes watching him from behind.

In Scott Group’s headquarters.
After Benjamin received Ivana’s call, he immediately rushed to the president’s office on the top floor, ignoring all the important clients and contracts that they were about to receive from their negotiations.
Over four months had passed. Although Credence had never talked about Dorothy or even visited her in prison ever again, Benjamin was aware of how deep his feelings for her ran. He would not show any of his feelings on his face, but Dorothy must have become the first priority in Credence’s heart.
His armor of overly steely determination was too hard to crack, for he had been tough for too long, and he had no idea how to be humble and gentle any longer.
Apart from that, his ego also played a part.
Dorothy was pregnant with Juelz’s child. Anyone would feel uncomfortable whenever they were faced with that.
However, if Credence really loved her, there was nothing he could mind.
Benjamin stood in front of the door and gently rapped on it.
Inside, Credence, Jonathan, and Marvin were discussing the matters of transferring Sheldon to Monticello.
Credence’s handsome facial features were shone on by a strong incandescent light, making his facial expression hard to decipher. Wisps of expectations could vaguely be seen in the depths of his eyes.
“What’s going on with my father? Are his fingers really moving? Does it mean that he will wake up soon?”
Jonathan shook his head and brought up Sheldon’s current condition. At that moment, gone was his otherwise usual joyful self as he was a lot more serious. He relayed, “I don’t know about the details. That hospital of mine is not the best in terms of helping comatose patients. The attending doctor told me about Sheldon’s condition. We can consider sending him to this hospital in Monticello where there are top experts who specialize in studying acute coma patients. With their excellent medical skills, perhaps your father can finally wake up.”
He wanted to take advantage of Sheldon’s increasingly better condition to send him to Monticello for treatment. There was a glimmer of hope there for him to wake up.
Marvin handed Credence a cup of coffee. He was a trained special forces man who was strong, yet when they were talking about Sheldon, who had laid on a hospital bed for two years because of his coma, he still frowned and sighed, “He has been in a coma for two years. Now that his fingers have suddenly moved, it means that his will to live is really strong. He has never thought about giving up, so we must not slack off. Instead, we need to have higher hopes about him waking up.”
“That’s right, there’s still hope. What if he just suddenly wakes up one day?” Jonathan nodded in agreement.
“Alright then, let’s make the preparations and send my father to Monticello for treatment.”
Credence raised his head and gulped down a mouthful of bitter coffee, taking with it the sobs threatening to escape from his throat.
Her mother had passed away when he was little. His father was the one who had raised him up and taught him how to fight and survive in the business world, how to perform business negotiations, and how to silently make profits.
When he was little, he had occasionally heard that Sheldon had a soulmate who had even been pregnant with his child. However, he had never seen her, nor had he heard about her from his father before.
Ever since his mother had passed away, Sheldon had always been alone. He had invested all his energy and intelligence in expanding the Scott Group, exhausting his life force. The rumored partner was like dewdrops on leaves in the summer morning. As soon as the sun rose, she disappeared without a trace.
Sheldon had always been a clean man, and there had never been a woman around him. Credence could not even find a suitable woman to take care of him.
There was a moment where Credence got immersed in his memories. It was only when Benjamin knocked on the door that he was slowly pulled back from his daze. He looked at Benjamin entering in a hurry and asked in a low voice, “What’s the matter?”
Benjamin took a deep breath before he said, “Mr. Scott, I’ve just received a call from Ivana. She said that Mrs. Scott has been released from prison today, but Mr. Juelz had picked her up. She’s not coming back to the city, but straight to Talco City airport.”
“Bloody hell, they’re going to leave Talco City!”
Credence and Marvin had not spoken yet, but Jonathan had beaten them to the chase. He said, “Credence, that Juelz is really quite the dumba*s. This has to be Dorothy’s idea. She wants to leave this place immediately, a place that makes her sad, and go to somewhere where no one can find her.”
“Well, do you have any idea where she’s going? You don’t know, don’t you? Since you don’t, then you should stop her immediately! If she really escapes this time, there’s a high possibility that you won’t ever be able to find her again in the future. Are you really willing to not see her for the rest of your life?”
Marvin said, “Credence, Jonathan is right.”
Marvin nodded too. It was rare for him to agree with Jonathan’s nonsense.
Credence sat still on the executive chair, his eyes boring into them as they talked. It seemed like there was something wrong with his hearing, and there was only a buzzing noise in his brain. He could not hear them talking clearly at all.
After a long while, his hearing slowly returned to normal. Credence remained morbidly silent.
He lifted his head and stared rigidly at the moving white clouds through the window. Suddenly, he laughed in a low voice, a voice so cold that people could feel the chill down to their bones.
He mocked himself, “She really doesn’t want me anymore!”
Benjamin looked down at the tip of his black leather shoes, discomfort enveloping him.
Jonathan shouted, “Hey, Credence, now isn’t the time for you to be sentimental! Get into your car and chase after her. If we continue to delay, Dorothy and Juelz will really end up leaving together.”
Upon hearing that, Credence felt a stab of pain in his heart.
Suddenly, a terrible feeling swelled up in his heart. If he let Dorothy go this time, he might not be able to see her for a long time, perhaps even for the rest of his life ever again.
He suddenly stood up and rushed out of the office like a madman. He charged to the parking lot, started his car as quickly as possible, and drove to Talco City Airport. He wanted to stop Dorothy in what little time he had.
On the way to the airport, Credence gripped the steering wheel with both hands and stared at the streets in front with a sullen face. He was driving at a whopping two hundred kilometers per hour.
At that moment, a large truck dashed forwards in front of him and hit Credence’s car head on, giving rise to a deafening noise.
Crash!
With his blurry vision, Credence saw a handsome man who bore a dark and sinister face. He was younger than Credence, around 26 or 27 years of age. He wore a suit and leather shoes with a high-end watch on his wrist. With his outstanding and extraordinary temperament, no one would confuse him for an ordinary truck driver.
The man seemed to recognize Credence as he turned back and flashed him a vicious smile!
