‘Do you still love Credence?’
After listening to Juelz’s question, Dorothy fell silent for a long time.
That man had rescued her at her most desperate times. She had fallen in love with him at first sight, and she had secretly loved him for ten years. How could she just claim that she did not love him anymore?
However, as she looked at Juelz, who was eagerly waiting for her answer, Dorothy could not help but smile, “Juelz, Credence and I are officially divorced. From now on, we have nothing to do with each other. Does it matter if I still love him or not?”
“Credence doesn’t love me, so he won’t love the child in my belly. In order to let my child grow up normally, I can’t be with him anymore.”
“You know how I feel. I have never felt any warmth from my family ever since I was a child. So, I really want to have a complete home. I don’t want my child to feel the same harshness as I did, where my life was only filled with coldness and indifference.”
When there was love, there was also hate, and even more pain.
She would not even be able to stand the pain from a thorn in her palms, much less completely remove Credence from his heart. How could she feel no pain from doing so?
However, no matter how painful it was, the days would still continue to pass, and she could only look forward.
Her child was her only hope!
Juelz looked at how hurt Dorothy looked, and yet she was still pretending to be strong. He felt a deep pain in his heart, as if he had been punched in the chest.
Dorothy was fragile and strong at the same time, which made him want to hold her tightly in his arms, comfort her and give her warmth. He did not want her to be helpless and lonely anymore.
“Dory, I know that you’ve always treated me as your brother. I’ll never be more important than Credence in your heart, but what I want to tell you is that if you really want to live a good life, you must not go back to loving Credence anymore, do you understand?”
“He has only given you pain and sadness. He even almost killed you.”
Unable to calm down, Juelz continued, “If you ever go back to find him in the future, and remain unhappy, I will let go of everything else. Whether you like it or not, I will stay with you. I will protect both you and your baby until the day I die. As long as I am alive, I will always protect you.”
When faced with Juelz’s sincere words, Dorothy did not know what to say. She could only nod her head silently.
…
At the same time, Marvin, who was still far away in a hospital in Monticello, was taking a break with his eyes closed on a resting chair. Suddenly, his eyelids twitched.
People from special forces were as sharp as wolves, and he quickly woke up from his fatigue. His dark eyes were sharp as he stared at the door of the emergency room, his eyes shining brightly.
Among the four gangsters, there was only one person left who was alive. The bullet that had been shot into his body had lodged itself two centimeters away from his heart. He was lucky enough to escape death, and he was currently undergoing surgery inside the operating room.
His sharp eyes stared at the movements going around the corridor. Marvin had a feeling that it was too peaceful, like the calm before a storm.
The night was not destined to be so peaceful.
He lowered his head, and looked at his watch. It was almost half past seven at night.
Talco City and Montticello were about 14 hours apart. In Talco City, it should be around nine thirty in the morning.
According to Credence’s usual habits, he should already have arrived at the president’s office of Scott Group to handle his official business matters.
Marvin thought of something, so he took his mobile phone out of his pocket, walked to the corridor and made a quick phone call. He said, “Credence, it’s me! The operation has been going on for almost three hours, and it’s not over yet. Is there any progress on your side?”
On the other end of the call, Credence said something, which made Marvin nod repeatedly and reply, “Okay, then we’ll carry out the plan that you’ve mentioned.”
After hanging up on the call, Marvin’s face was stiff and had no reaction whatsoever.
He had a strong physique from training for a long period of time, and he wore a serious expression on his face. He seemed very stern and strong, which made people feel safe easily.
Marvin’s eyes swept across the empty corridor. His sharp gaze seemed to be casual, but he had scanned every inch of the corridor thoroughly.
He did not know who the mastermind was. He and Credence had been working together for nearly a month, but they still could not find a clue. He was really annoyed.
However, the more mysterious the problem was, the more interested Marvin was in it.
In the game of cat and mouse, wasn’t the most interesting part guessing which hole the mouse would come out from?
He raised his hand and pressed the spot between his eyebrows tiredly. His fingers, being put under training for so many months, had begun to grow a layer of dead skin over. His hands were rough but strong.
Sensing the swelling in his abdomen, Marvin turned his head and saw a nurse pushing a cart over. He asked in a low and powerful voice, “Where’s the bathroom?”
The nurse was attracted by his deep, charming voice. She shifted her eyes from the bottles in the cart to Marvin’s face. When she saw how stern and serious he looked, she could not help but blush. She pointed behind her, “It’s not far. It’s just… at the end of the line over there.”
“Thank you.”
Marvin immediately walked away. He thought that since he was quick, he would not take more than three minutes. There had been no abnormal movements in the emergency room, so there should not be any big incidents.
After entering the washroom and finishing his business, Marvin closed his eyes and inhaled in relief. As soon as he had zipped up his black leggings, his keen ears heard two muffled gunshots.
The shots were short and soft. The gun had been equipped with a silencer.
Was someone going to start a murder?!
Marvin quickly reacted, and he ran out of the bathroom towards the emergency room.
In the end, he was still one step too late.
Two burly men in black walked out of the emergency room.
They each wore large sunglasses that covered most of their actual faces. Each of them held a pistol equipped with a silencer each. They ran into Marvin who had rushed over after hearing the noise. He immediately raised the gun in his hand and pointed it at Marvin’s chest. With a crisp click, he turned around and jumped out of the second floor window that had been opened. He fell on the soft grass and disappeared without a trace.
His athletic skills were not inferior to Marvin’s at all.
“F*ck!” Marvin cursed.
He turned around, and rushed into the emergency room without hesitation. Several doctors with blond hair and blue eyes from Monticello were so frightened that they had curled into balls.
The strong smell of blood lingered in the air. The thug lying on the operating table suddenly had two more bloody gunshots on his neck. He was coughing and struggling, and even the heavens could not save him anymore.
Marvin walked over and placed two fingers on the major artery on his neck. He felt the thug’s heartbeat getting slower and slower. He pursed his thin lips and his face was as cold as ice. He spoke in their language fluently, “He’s dying. We can’t afford to waste any more time saving him.”
D*mn it, the men had taken advantage of the window of opportunity, and had killed the last surviving ruffian in just two to three minutes. There were very few people from all walks of life who could calculate such a perfect plan!
